  1. We just got it last week! Our family really enjoys playing Mario Party and this is along the same lines as that one is. We played it the other night with an age range from 3 years old to 54 years old and we all enjoyed it. There's tons of mini games, you play hide and seek with the remotes (my kids favorite), you can play a board game, and lots of other things. I definitely recommend it!
  2. Yes. My kids are still young but we have already begun limiting pop culture. No Hanna Montana for my girls. We do PBS, old cartoons, Disney, etc. Music is also very monitored. We listen to mostly Christian, country (I'll turn the station if I think the song is inappropriate), and Disney soundtracks. I don't need all the bad pop culture influencing my kids.
  3. I've never thought of it that way. We've very conservative Christians and we do Santa. I always thought of it as believing in the magic of Christmas. As far as being omniscient, we tell our kids that Jesus tells Santa whether they have been good or bad.
  4. Go now. Funerals are for the family....to help with closure. But your grandfather is alive now. It's more important to see him and talk with him before his time is up.
  5. Actually, none at the moment. I have two dogs around here, and the Jack Russell is usually stuck to me like glue....so I'm not sure where he's at around here.
  6. I planted black seeded simpson lettuce. It's ready to be harvested (actually, it's more than ready to be harvested....it's been planted for over two months now). Do I just cut the leaves off? With scissors? Near the base? And what do I do with it afterwards? Is just washing it with water sufficient for cleaning? I've never had a garden and to think of eating something that's been outside....with bugs crawling all over it....just seems like it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly LOL.
  7. I've always heard that ending a sentence with a preposition can be iffy in some circumstances....but not beginning it with one.
  8. While I wouldn't consider myself "mainstream", I thought that I was pretty informed on what IS mainstream. Obviously not though LOL...I only got two right (the Price is Right and the Left Behind series).
  9. I wake up tired. I usually never get enough sleep. I'd like to just sleep until either the kids wake me or I wake myself.....but then, as someone else mentioned, I'm grumpy if I do that. I have to have time to myself in the mornings. I don't even like DH to be up with me. I don't like to talk in the mornings and if other people are up, then I have to talk. And if the kids are up, then I have to start tending to their needs. But yeah, I usually wake up tired.
  10. I've been praying for you today! Please update when you can.
  11. LOL!!!! I had to LOL at the "isn't that cute" part!
  12. On a normal day, I usually allow the kids each to choose a 30 minute TV show....so the max they get is an hour of TV. When I'm sick, multiply that number by about 10. :D
  13. That is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard of. Seriously. :001_huh:
  14. Honestly, I really don't think the victim matters. A bully just targets someone. They can be someone popular, or unpopular. I think it is all about the bully. Sure, some kids are easier targets. Being very different from your peers makes you an easier target. But sometimes you don't have to be very different to be targeted. I think a lot of it falls back on the parents. I know that if I found out that my kids was a bully, there would be some VERY serious consequences. And I would be proactive with checking up with the school to make sure all bullying had stopped. For majority of cases, the parents probably just don't care. Not all cases, but majority.
  15. I think about you often, and each time I do I send up a prayer!
  16. My 3 year old DD has never lost her glasses. She knows that she is not allowed to take them off. Aside from that, I do have an extra pair that's exactly like the ones she wears all the time. If I were you, I'd designate a specific place for her glasses when she's finished using them for reading. Sit a small basket on the counter, or the bookshelf and tell her that when she's finished, the glasses go in there. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
  17. DD#1 did one two years ago (DD#2 was too little at the time) and she really enjoyed it. I, however, didn't know that it required set up. I opened it the morning of December 1st and realized it was going to take a LONG time to put it all together!
  18. I let my kids pick out a set number of pieces when we get home from trick or treating (not counting the candy they eat along the way). The rest are switched for money. Although, I never know how much to give for the candy. I like the switch witch idea though!
  19. My dad has that ring tone on his phone. It is SO funny when it rings. For one, it is LOUD and it usually scares the pee out of us. Plus, it usually gets a chuckle from anyone around him.
  20. How horrible! They will be in my prayers. Trees have become a new worry of mine. We were at the park a few weeks ago and out of the blue we heard a very loud cracking sound. A tree just randomly split in half and fell apart, onto the ground. There had been no raining, no wind, no nothing. Someone could have been standing under that tree!
  21. Wow. You need to get away. I wouldn't look at it as being driven from your home. I'd look at it as saving your children from all of the craziness. She threatened to run you over?? In front of your child?? I couldn't handle that.
