  1. According to the article, CPS called and left a message for a callback. What if the Mom never returned the call? I suppose they would just have shown up anyway but I don't see how someone is required to facilitate her own harassment. And I would think it would be the obligation of a governmental agency to prove guilt, not of the citizen to prove innocence. Every time.
  2. Others are asking that same question.http://thenaturalhistorian.com/2013/11/29/invoking-super-speed-evolution-how-to-squeeze-10000-bird-species-onto-noahs-ark/
  3. http://www.lileks.com/institute/70s/sears1973/9.html What WAS it with the 70s and plaids? And not subtle, pinstripe plaids but huge, orange, green, yellow, and red plaid. Psychedelic Scotsman.
  4. This is very similar to how dh and I now eat. Although I don't grow anything because the deer eat so much it is not worth trying to fight them for it. But the backbone of our diet is simple, in season fruits and vegetables from the produce market, meats, fish, eggs, and cheese from the supermarket, prepared with oil, butter and seasonings also from the supermarket. It gets a little monotonous at times but it is not really difficult. I am ready to switch to fall style meals for a change. And wine. Wine makes the simplest meal special.
  5. It is amazing that any of us that grew up during that time was able to find a partner and perpetuate the species.
  6. This is just to satisfy my own curiosity, but I have always wondered about this aspect of tha VA religious exemption; how does a government official determine if someone's religious objection is "good enough"? Wouldn't this necessarily require an agent of the state to make a judgement regarding the quality or sincerity of an individual's religios conviction? It seems to me that this would open an area that would be fraught with possible pitfalls.
  7. These are the Four Cardinal Doctrines of the Assemblies of God. Would it fit one of these? http://app.razorplanet.com/acct/41048-3265/tmpl/index.php?s=au&nid=37901
  8. Whenever I see the acronym HEAV, I read it as heave and think of vomiting. Which I might do if I had to listen to that talk. #AcronymFail.
  9. Actually, when I read the first blog post I pictured Nicki Minaj sitting two pews up at church. Interesting juxtaposition.
  10. I was thinking the same. Mr and Mrs M, a match made in...heaven. Why do I have a Nicki Minaj video playing in my brain?
  11. Wow. Good find. I snicker a little to read that she has been writing on certain topics for "years". Two counts as "years", right?
  12. She was married February 1, 2014. If she has a teenage son there must be an interesting backstory. http://phyliciadelta.com/meet-mr-m/
  13. And did you see the hand-on-the-hip-sticking-her-chest-out? Oh My!I think the v-neck t-shirt is ok because she is wearing that big necklace and that makes it "trendy but discreet".
  14. I agree. I have seen that piece a few times and never could figure out their relationship
  15. I am not sure what I will do if my washer ever dies. I have a Maytag that we bought in 1980. The dryer of the set died, but the washer is still going. (I don't like my new dryer.)
  16. I find that aspect more troubling than the use of mild physical deterrence.
  17. The divorce rate in recent history has actually never been that high.http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/19/health/19divo.html?_r=0
  18. I can barely remember my own computer passwords. I certainly do not want to bother with anyone else's. Fortunately, I share my home with another adult so that is not a problem.
  19. I find the statement that her sisters were repeatedly asking if she was pregnant and then urging a pregnancy test on her incredibly intrusive. Aside from Jill's desire for pregnancy, I think the answer to that should have been, " Mind your own business."
  20. Spelling, Science, Social Studies, And Physical Education.
  21. Regarding bringing food to a wedding, it is a local Pittsburgh area custom to bring cookies to a wedding reception. As members of my family have married people from the western PA area, we have had cookies brought to the wedding. It was not on the invitation, more an informal word-of-mouth to those who would be expecting it and wish to contribute. Aside from that situation, the only reception I have heard of asking others to bring food were small, informal potluck receptions. Everyone is either family or a close friend.
  22. That has a way of just happening naturally over time.
  23. I would join a benign neglect parenting group. It proved to be a very successful method for me.
  24. These are the kind of cell phone people had when my kids were very young. If you could even afford one. Eta; Sorry. I tried to link old cell phone ads but it won't come through for me. Picture huge lunchbox size box with a handset attached.
