  1. My 10 year old is doing FLL4 and Writing Tales 2. His older brother is going quickly through WWE 3 and 4 so I did not want them in the same book this year. My plan is to double up on WT2 this this fall so we can double up on FLL 4 when it comes out and complete both this year.
  2. I am loving it too! It is working very well for my reluctant writer who has struggled with dictation.
  3. Mine came DHL. Is that different from UPS? What does DHL stand for?
  4. We combine MUS and Singapore. they just work a little in each of the books each day. They usually finish one level of MUS and an A and B book of Singapore each year. When my ds finishes Zeta and Singapore 5A and 5B, he will do Saxon 8/7.
  5. We combine History and science in the elementary years. Once they reach 7th grade they start doing more independant work. In elementary all the children are doing everything together except LA and Math. I use MFW which makes is easier for me to keep up with everything. We have some together time then the older ones work on LA and math while I teach younger ones to read etc. I have found that K-2nd graders need a lot of one on one time. Then we do history and science read alouds and spines together. We then branch off again to work on writing assignments related to history and science.
  6. MFW could definately work in the way that you have described. You would be doing something similar to what I do with my younger children and just wouldn't use the books that are too hard for them. I did this with CTG when my oldest was 3rd grade. Then the second time around you would use all of the books designed for older children. For example with RTR you would mainly do SOTW 2 and Medieval world and lots of age appropriate book basket books. The read alouds would also be appropriate for younger children. Yes you can do SOTW 1 with MFW 1st. My son listened in and did some of the activities of SOTW 2 that I was doing with the older children at the time he was doing 1st. It did not overwhelm him. I would not worry about trying to mesh the 2 programs chronologically, just do the next thing in each one.
  7. What is the difference between Saxon Teacher and the DIVE CDS?
  8. FLL's definition of a preposition is "A preposition is a word that shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to another word in the sentence."
  9. We enjoyed ECC but my children were young, 2nd grade and younger. I checked out tons of library books on the animals and biomes of each country which they loved. IMHO though each year with MFW gets better and better. CTG was a great year with the Biblical history and Jewish feasts. We loved RTR too. Now we are in EX1850 and it is working well. I wouldn't give up on it. I am looking forward to doing ECC again with the 7th-8th grade supplement.
  10. I would say in CTG that the Bible is the primary textbook and the other civilizations and books are woven in at the appropriate times.
  11. My 5th grade ds will do FLL 4 this year with WWE. Next year I plan for him to do Analytical Grammar for 6th-8th grades and IEW SWI B unless Susan's logic stage writing program is written. Then I will do that for writing. Rod and Staff is also a good choice, probably book 5.
  12. My precious, loving Daddy died in 2005. I still miss him greatly, my boys do too.
  13. I am close friends with several families who have 8 or more children. One has 12, and another one is expecting their 13th soon. My sil is the youngest of 10 All of the large families that I have met are great to be around. We have a lot of fun with them. They are also hardworking and well mannered.
  14. My son will also go into great detail and remember stories word for word with voice inflection and everything. He did this when we listened to the SOTW cds. He'd listened to it several times (ahead of where we were reading) and when I'd ask for a narration he'd practically quote the whole thing! I found it helpful to do a shorter passage for narration (Like an Aesop fable), but I still let them tell me everthing they know about our history or science just for fun and to see what they remember. Now that they are older we do oral narrations after we read, but they write their own summaries at a separate time on their own.
  15. i do this too. We just do 1 page of MUS per day and 1-2 exercises of Singapore ( or more if it is easy). We are doing MUS as our main program but if they get to something in Singapore that they haven't had yet I just teach it to them right then and move on. SO far so good!
  16. i am okay with material for narrations. We are using SOTW and Apologia Science books. I need help with the specific dictations that she mentions for each week. Any ideas?
  17. The greek word for "keeper at home" means a sentinel, a guard for her family, protector etc. It has the idea of guards who are in the keep protecting and watching over the city. And though this may involve staying home and raising the children, it also means that the welfare of her family is priority to her and that she is acutely aware of what is going on with her family. I believe that we need to follow the God given roles that God has for each member of our families but that is not going to look exactly the same in each family.I personally am a SAHM and am very committed to being there for my children. It does matter. But if Sarah's husband is the head of their home and is supportive and encouraging of her running as VP then who are we to judge? God often uses people in unexpected and creative ways. Deborah and Esther are good examples. God also looks at the heart and motives of each person which we can't see.
  18. Rainbow resource and rodandstaffbooks both take paypal.
  19. I placed a huge online order on August 11 and received it on the 20th. I thought that was fast.
  20. Your plan of R&S 6 this year and AG in 7th and 8th will work also! Then you get the best of both worlds.
  21. AG has my vote too. We did R&S through book 4, but have now switched to AG. I like AG much better. It takes less time and is not soooo repetitious and tedious. I do not plan to use R&S again as I now do FLL 1-4 for grammar stage and then go to AG in 6th grade.
