  1. She has been right since the day she born pretty much. she never even been on growth chart. she was born with three heart defects, a paralyzed left vocal cord, hypotonia, and laryngomalacia. most of those problems have been cleared up call on their own. she has been intolerance to dairy but no food allergies. her father is only 5 feet 4 inches and all of the women on both sides of the family range from 4 foot 7 inches 25 foot 1 inch who's going to be very big anyway
  2. She eats anwhere from 200-700 calories a day most days... She has no interest in food... I oack her milk with protein when she does not get enough...and she gets vitamins every day... She is also super picky.
  3. I want to add... She gas issues with smell, noise, and textures... Something sensory... But the dr. ignores me on that
  4. I have requested an OT and she has had ST and PT.... also a GI, Genetecist, ENT, Cardio, and an Allergist... Oh, and feeding therapist
  5. She is small for her age.... She eats... But it is a huge fight... She is not t losing weight..
  6. Last time I saw a shrink... Well.... She convinced me I was safe and I was not and she belie someone else over me.... Its a long story... But it was bad for me
  7. My three and a half year old has issues witb hating food and refusing to eat. Today, her doctor recommended a play therapist... And got the ball rolling without my input. The therspst called and told me I would have to leave my baby alone with her after two sessions. NO WAY!!!!!!!! I have nothing to hide but I am not ok with this... Can I refuse... Would that be considered medical neglect... In general I do not trust shrinks.. Would you get a new doctor.
  8. This year I am doing crockpot bbq beef sandwiches for the main food and sides of Coleslaw Potato salad Fruit salad Shrimp platter Cheese and crackers Assorted chips and dips Cookies and brownies Cheesecake bites
  9. We did Reception for exactly half a year... 30 lessons. It was a little too easy for my four year old, who is also workbooky... So we moved to a K curriculum. I will use Reception for my three year old starting in a few months. It will be perfect for her as she needs a slower pace and NO workbooks. It really is a great program... But the printing gets tedious and cistly. This time I will have it done, and bound, ar the copy center in town.
  10. My plans are to use Sonlight and tweak it to be more CM.
  11. DS is not yet 5. You can see our plans in my siggy
  12. We are loving CLP Liberty Math K. It is very straight foward with few distractions and it seems to be comprehensive. The review the first few lessons was tedious for us but we did it any way to make sure bases are covered.
  13. As soon as DS started free writing, I bought a handwriting workbook, lol....
  14. I am pretty sure I am going with SL. We have been the WP route and hated it and HOD looks way too easy for my kids and I would have to scratch half of it. We would also do our own LA, math, logic, and handwriting since we love what we are doing now.
  15. I just bought The Reading Lesson this week for DD who has trouble with the concept of blending. it was highly recommended for this type of struggle. Going through it, the concept looks like it could work... DS is an ETC type of kid... And DD is not.
  16. Right now, if DS stays on track he will be a young first so we will keep his core age appropriate and combined with his little sisters.... The plans now a SL Core P4/5 CLP Math A ETC 4-6 / BTC D'Nealian A some sort of logic Nature study French
  17. I live in a small town where homeschooling is not the norm. In fact, I ran an add in our weekly paper for 4 straight weeks trying to find other HSer's to form a group and not one single response. I have finally harrased the local retailers into giving me the same discount they give teachers, but they all admit I am the ONLY person who used the HS discount. I don't know if we have a lot of in the closets here or what, lol. So when people ask DS if he is in school yet and he says no (because we don't really call learning "school" in this house) a whole can of worms opens up. My favorite so far was an older lady, a friend of my mothers, who said "oh, homeschooling it such a great idea. Your kids will learn so much. But why don't you just put them in school for the SOCIALIZATION aspect and do their homework with them?" This from a women who sent her own kid to boarding school scross the Country because her boyfriend at the time didn't like having a kids around!!!! I have not even told my ex-inlaws I am homeschooling and we have been doing it for a year now. They will go 100%, absolutely, ballistically INSANE. They are the type who will keep calling CPS on me for homeschooling!!!! Even my ex-husband doesn't have the guts to tell them.
  18. I saw this only a few minutes ago in a FB from Smith Optics. How very sad.
  19. DS is going through ETC 1 fair quickly and is retaining well. I just discovered Queens Language Lessons for Little Ones... does anyone pair the two? If not, is their one you would choose over another? DS loves ETC so far and seems drawn to the workbooks style, but.... thoughts?
  20. We let our subscription to ABCMouse go after a few months. The kids got bored with it and they really weren't retaining anything. We tried the free trial on Reading Eggs and didn't care for it at all. We have not tried the paid portion of Starfall but DS likes the free version every now and then. They really love the free sites www.sprout.com and www.abcya.com the best.
  21. I just ordered a Samsung Galazy Tablet....I am so excited.... any suggestions for free or low cost APPS for it....for homeschool (I have a preschool and a pre-k) and for me?
  22. Our house has an odd layout, but my bedroom is on the main floor (which is the second floor of a three story house) and is pretty much off the dining room, with only a small hall with a pantry and a bathroom inbetween .I have a full desk and hutch in a corner and a bulletin board on that wall. The books we are currently using are in that hutch and supplies are in the drawers of the desk. Extra books for reading are on a small book shelf in my walk-in closet and there area also 4 small rubbermaid containers with various craft and project supplies, stacked. I can take some pictures if you like. Nothing used for school stays in the dining room beyond school time. Ever.
  23. We are different than both of you, lol. DS loves ETC. It is his favorite part of the school day here. We do one lesson in 3 parts over 1 week. (3 pgs, 4pgs, 3pgs usually) and we reinforce with Starfall and BOB Books and flashcards I have made. We DO use the TM for ETC and he likes the extra acitivities in there.... the vocab, new sight words, and such. We will be moving to ETC 2 soon and won't be adding in anything else, unless something really changes. The TM's cover all we need in a reading curriculum as long as we have books to practice on... and we will also add in Beyond the Code at Book 3 or 4 for reading comprehension.
  24. I have a relative who has been using MPTB. She absolutely loves it but she stressed to me that it is NOT for accelerated learners as advertised. A typical 6 year old will find it typical 6 year old work and that at age level, it is not challenging in anyway. She suggested if I were to try it, I just buy one unit (not call unit, though... can't remember the word) to give is a shot. Since it is heavy in activities, though, it would not be for us.
