  1. We had a whole lot of rain during the night and yet this morning. It was 62 around 8am but a couple hours later and it's dropped to 31!
  2. I must agree with the others, you are far prettier than Vivien Leigh
  3. You are beautiful! You both look so happy. I must say, that is not the picture I had of you in my head, perhaps because we have a neighbor named Scarlett and I just always pictured her when I saw your name.
  4. Vicki, Vicki, Vicki, you really don't need to get me started on blueberry vodka, that sounds like a very bad habit. :tongue_smilie: I guess I'll have to try it next time I'm up that way.... Green Mountain does have a few different variety packs to choose from, but I think you get 22 k-cups divided by 4 different varieties.
  5. :iagree: We stayed at the Beach Club and loved it! The pool is great, enjoyed the boardwalk, being able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, and it was just lovely. I can't imagine staying anywhere else now.
  6. We built our last house and I miss it. We loved everything about it (for what was in our budget) except for one thing - I wish we had a seat in the shower. With a bigger budget, we would have added a few things like vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans in the bedrooms, bigger laundry room with cabinets, 3 car garage, granite countertops with a copper sink, nicer kitchen cabinets.... The things I loved were the open floor plan, hard wood floors, a large shower in the master and no tub since we never use one anyway (there was a tub in the 2nd bath if needed), built in hamper in the cabinets of the master bath, a large pantry, pull out shelves in kitchen and bathroom cabinets, space built in for our entertainment center, all bedrooms upstairs and anyone coming or going would have to go past the master bedroom (didn't seem important at the time, but now I have a teenager:ohmy:), front porch with room for a couple chairs, a deck which stepped down to a paver patio, prewired security system, oh, and the view of the lake. I so loved that house.
  7. I'm drinking the German chocolate cake right now and it's pretty good. It's actually Timothy's rather than Green Mountain so it has a little different taste to it than what I'm used to but I will enjoy it. We've actually had the French toast flavor before and it's yummy. It has a buttery/cinnamon/touch of maple flavor to it but not too strong - perfect on a cold day. We like the flavored coffees and only have plain coffee once in a while. The one that really surprised us most though was the blueberry coffee - it sounded really gross to me but we both love it, especially with a little Italian cream creamer in it.
  8. :iagree:We get most of ours from there. We have been doing the Cafe Express and pay $12.45 for 24 cups. Free shipping if you buy 4 or more boxes at a time and no sales tax for us either. FedEx should be dropping off some German chocolate cake and golden french toast flavors anytime now. Before I could even hit submit, the FedEx man came. Going to have to go try that German chocolate cake now.
  9. I was called once while I was in college several hours away so I wasn't able to serve. A couple years ago, I was called to serve on the grand jury but they randomly pick people by drawing numbers and I didn't get picked. There were all of these people there doing their best to not have to serve while I was thinking "pick me, pick me" the whole time. I really want to serve.
  10. We've been out of Cub Scouts for a couple years now, but since ds is a Den Chief, they encouraged him to build a car to race in the leader's race. He did it on his own with the help of a dremel and will be racing it Saturday morning. He's very optimistic that he'll do well since he always did as a Cub.
  11. Does no one have a complete curriculum they like for 8th grade that is rigorous? I really am hoping to find something besides Calvert since it wasn't our favorite when dd used it before for 6th grade. Anyone? Anyone?
  12. I hadn't even thought about that so I did a quick search and found that Connections Academy will be available in LA starting this next year. The only other one I could find was just for high school. I know nothing about Connections - anyone have any experience with them?
  13. I couldn't get this to format right without putting the "." in there. I hope I'm remembering correctly, but I would do it just by dividing it out ..............2k^2 + 3k - 1 .............._________________________ 2k^2 + 1 )4k^4 + 6k^3 + 0k^2 + 3k - 1 ..............4k^4........... + 2k^2 ..............__________________________ .........................6k^3 - 2k^2 + 3k - 1 .........................6k^3.......... + 3k ..............__________________________ ................................ - 2k^2 .......- 1 ................................ - 2k^2 .......- 1 .............. __________________________ .................................................... 0
  14. :iagree: Me too. We go to one in Dallas which is about 3 hours away, but fortunately we have friends there so we don't have to pay for a hotel and the kids and dh can hang with them if they don't want to go with me.
  15. My ds will be in 8th grade next year and we have pretty much decided to try public high school with him the following year. It's what we did with my older dd and it seems to have been a good decision for her. She did Classical Conversations for 8th grade and while it was a nice step towards going to school, I don't think it was worth the money nor complete enough. So, I'm trying to fine something to do with ds that will help him prepare for going to school and make sure that we haven't left any gaping holes in his education thus far. I'm considering Calvert, but when I used the 6th grade with dd, I wasn't thrilled with some of it. I would love to find something where maybe some/all of the classes could be on-line without costing an arm and a leg. I also need something that will really help with writing because that is his weak point. He is a smart kid and needs to be pushed a little more than he has been. Definitely need something rigorous as the public school does a block system and they go through material very quickly so I want him to be prepared as much as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  16. I used to take Lexapro for anxiety and it worked great. MY bff is a psychiatrist (in another state) and told me that this med worked well for many of her patients with fewer side effects than most. When I went to my internist about it, she also recommended Lexapro. I had no side effects from it and it seemed to help me pretty quickly. Granted, I took this only for anxiety and not depression, so I can't speak to how it works for that and I was only on a rather low dose for about 9 months. I agree with the other poster though that different meds work differently for different people so you might need to try more than one. Also, anti-dep meds usually take some time to work. Good luck.
  17. When my dad's mom died nearly 2 years ago, I took pictures of her in the coffin - she looked so beautiful and I'm glad I have those pictures now. However, the only reason I took them at the time is because my dad had prostate cancer surgery 2 days before she died and was not able to make the trip from TN to IA for the funeral so I took pictures for him.
  18. I booked our vacation months ago. We are going on a Caribbean cruise over spring break for my ds's 13th birthday. We all just got certified in scuba few months ago, so we are going to dive in Grand Cayman while we are there. Oh, and my bff and her son, who live far, far away, are coming with us too. I'm so excited.
  19. We just got the Cuisinart for Christmas, and so far we love it. We chose it for the bigger water capacity among other things. The k cups are a little strong for me, so I make sure to use the 12 oz size brew with them. We have used the My k cup a lot with it and you can adjust how strong to make it by adding more or less coffee to it - just make sure you put the lid on tight enough or you'll end up with colored water. The other thing I like is that we drink flavored coffees and don't always want the same flavor or I'll want decaf, and with this, we can have whatever we want without worrying about what the other one wants. We've always been Green Mountain fans and are Cafe Express members (free) so we can get a discount on the k cups, including free shipping if we buy 4 boxes at a time, and no sales tax for us.
  20. I keep telling dh that I dream about having a new car with a big bow on it in the driveway for Christmas (or birthday) some year. I'm hopeful that someday, when the kids are grown, that I will discover a brand new convertible with a bow on it. :auto:
  21. I think it says a lot that my favorite gift from my parents this year was an artificial Charlie Brown Christmas tree.... They also gave me some kitchen towels and pot holders that they cleaned out of my deceased grandmother's house this year. Oh, and the single pillowcase with a lion on it that also probably came from there. My db and dsil left almost everything they gave them here for me to donate rather than lug it home on the plane with them.
  22. For ours, as long as they are in school (including college) they are in the kids group.
  23. Is it one that you have to send in receipts to get reimbursed, or can you just spend the money directly from the account? If you can spend it from the account, I think you can just spend it on anything but then pay the tax consequences on your income taxes - should be better than losing it all. Of course it's been a few years since we've had an fsa, so I could be remembering wrong.
  24. Well personally, I'd rather be a medium fish in a medium pond.... But since that wasn't a choice, I would choose the big pond with hopes of becoming a medium fish there. I have no desire to ever be the big fish. But that's just me. I agree with the others that it depends on where you are in life.
  25. My dd went from Singapore 6 to Lial's BCM to Jacob's Algebra and it seems to work well. The BCM covers a few things that Singapore lacked as well as reinforcing things, really solidifying concepts before Algebra. My ds is working on BCM now and will move on to Jacob's next year.
