  1. No problems here from freeranging. From 2nd grade and on, I walked to and from school (and home and back for lunch!) and rode my bike all over town. When my mom started working (I think I was in 3rd grade) I walked home from school as usual and watched way, waaaaay too much tv. :001_huh: I don't know why but I had the whole world to explore and I was watching Leave it to Beaver. I also got myself to all of my sport events. If I was signed up for softball, then I got myself to practice and games without being driven. Any classes I took afterschool, I got myself to. One day when I was 10, I rode my bike to a photography class at the school and when I came out, my bike was vandalized. I was so upset, I still remember the feeling I had when I saw my bike :crying:
  2. The Happy Hollisters! If he loves Boxcar, he'll love these too. :)
  3. It happens to me too! Thanks for starting this thread, I thought it was just me!
  4. Surely we can go from 2:15 to 4:45 without a coffee break, right? The morning coffee break might be nice though... just maybe shorter?
  5. I got the audiobook for me to listen to and my 1st and 2nd grade kids listened with me. They loved the introduction and the first few chapters about the universe but there were many parts in the middle and toward the end that where they were bored to tears. There suddenly came topics and names and dates where their eyes just glazed over - maybe because they couldn't really put some of it into context?
  6. Yes, I got an email from Susan's assistant saying that Susan has chosen the states listed and they are going to narrow it down by zip code from there (and to please submit my zip code for consideration)
  7. :grouphug::grouphug: I'm so sorry. They will come around with a little more maturity and they will remember what you did for them. :grouphug::grouphug:
  8. Susan has selected the following States for the tour: Virginia Washington state Oregon Pennsylvania New Jersey New York Connecticut Texas (via email from Susan's assistant)
  9. Yes, definitely Clinton could have/should have taken care of Bin Laden but didn't. That is exactly my point. You said that any president would have done what Obama did and I'm disagreeing that as a given. That's all.
  10. :w00t: Yes, move to NW NJ!! It is one of the most affordable places to live in NJ. We moved here from Bergen County (which I loved!) because I couldn't drop 3/4 million on a 2 bedroom house in my hometown. :sneaky2: One drawback is that it is really difficult to get a job around here because, well there is not much here! Lots of farms, small shops (strip malls :ack2:), parks, a decent hospital but not much industry. Plus justamouse is here :D:D:D and Capt_Uhura and Kalmia are close by :w00t:
  11. Oh yes, I do know CT, NY have high salaries too and yet I didn't think about whether or not the cost of living would be less in either state. I thought cost of living was similar (except NYC which is way higher because of housing cost). :) When I think about relocating, I am thinking south, like the Carolina's or out to the midwest where my dh could relocate with his company but make less money.
  12. The other thing that I want to put out there is that there are citizens of this country who have said that Obama is NOT on our side, and that his agenda is un-American and therefore would not make any good decisions. So when he makes a good decision that turns out well, it's just him "doing his job" that any pres. would have done. I still don't get why he has to take all the blame, whether he has control or not but never get to take any of the credit, whether he has control or not.
  13. Because under Hawaiian law, they are not allowed release a long form birth certificate for a fee to anyone, even if they request it. If you had moved to Arkansas from Hawaii and they wouldn't accept your short form Hawaiian birth cert. then you would have been out of luck.
  14. But the pay here is pretty high too. I know if we move out of state for cheaper housing and taxes, my dh will only make a fraction of the money he makes here.
  15. "and Laura, she's hot! Muy caliente!":lol::lol::lol::lol:
