  3. I've always told my girls, if they won't wear pony tails, or keep their hair out of their face.. short is the answer! If they're tender-headed short hair would be easier, if its a control issue, show her whose boss! :) lol my 11 yod couldn't get her very thick black long hair clean, week after week, I had to have her re-shampoo her hair, I gave her 3 + Months, to do a better job, or get it cut shorter! I cut 4 inches off it last week! and it is much less of a struggle for both of us! just my 2 cents kim

  8. This is to funny! We cleaned out our garage last weekend, and I found my older Kid's boxes of school work, we had so much fun reading all their stories, and journals. I pulled out the special unique drawing and stories and finally after 16+ years threw the rest away! Then we they all got home that evening, they spent it reading and laughing at each other, over the silly misspellings and funny stories, It was a blast kim

  14. i did this last year! Biblioplan, is a day to day laid out lesson plan of each days reading and assignments, Truthquest History, is mainly a Book list according to the time in History w/ her narration of the time period, some writing suggestions. Tapestry of Grace is a much more " Big" curriculum for History, Bible, Writing, language arts, geography, timelines, etc... IT's so much more than the above resources. But can over whelm some/ Like Biblioplan, it has day to day assignments, but you choose the books, it combines all grades So Can You tell, I choose TOG! But I waited until my youngest was reading well, so we could enjoy many aspects of TOG! kim
  15. We've Been Doing Simply Presidential this year! I also Bought the books that go w/ it to read, and they have been great; Woodrow for President teaches about the election process. Woodrow, the White House Mouse teaches about the Presidency and the White House. House Mouse, Senate Mouse teaches about Congress and the legislative process. Marshall, the Courthouse Mouse teaches about the judicial system. WE have learned a lot. I am going to be selling my set. If you decide your interested , let me knowboyenger@wheatstate.com, WE are putting our president Notebooks together for Dad, this evening! My Kids have sure paid attention to all the presidential coverage this year! Even my 1st grader kim

  17. our younger 2 went to the important games, early games, local games, but also went to their dramas, graduations, church programs, etc...... so I STRONGLY encourage my older children to support their younger siblings, when they are participating in something now, To me it's not about supporting them in "sporting " events when their in Highschool. It's being a family that supports one another, and encourages each other , when one of the family has worked really hard, and has put effort into an event which needs to be appreciated by his/ her family. Example: When our younger 2 finish a notebook on Bodies, I try to encourage them, to share it w/ their older siblings, and I usually give my older kids a heads up on this! So they'll at least act interested! they usually get a kick out of their writings, and drawings. It's funny they look for themselves in their younger siblings projects! B'days are another IMPORTANT celebration at our house, where the whole family is strongly urged to attend, But I always check the dates out w/ all of them, to see which time and day works best w/ their schedule. We always plan silly games for the younger ones to play at the b-day parties, and my older ones have a great time, playing these games w/ them. and the younger ones look forward to them. Last but Not least, I really try to reinterate to my younger ones, to let their older siblings know how much it means to them, that they are there, nothing formal like "thank you" notes, just verbalilzing it in different ways, Our youngest locates his siblings at church when he sings and waves from the stage at them. I know they like this! Oh well, I've rambled a bit here kim
  18. You Are a Nigella "Many people think you are just a little bit odd, but you consider yourself just a little eccentric. You find new experiences exciting and fulfilling." ummmmmmmmmmm????????????? not sure about this/???/ but was fun!
  19. we used BJ for many years, it was dry and boring my kids all hated it. Then we switched to Apologia, and it was very refreshing, I found it very challenging for my Highschool and middle school students, and they have many resources to help you w/ it. kim
  20. Most of what You mentioned, already knowing about, is what we did. We wanted to prepare them, to be self-reliant; taking care of and fixing their own homes, cars, small appliances, etc..... ( as much as possible) basically trying to fix broken things themselves, or w/ the help of Dad, Grandpa, etc..... Financial skills, balancing checkbook, paying bills, tithing, Work! learn HARD physical labor, it trains them for so many other things in life. for example, Haying, roofing, construction, Serving; Missionary trips, ( over seas , or locally) After school Bible Clubs, Vacation Bible Schools, WE are self employed, My husband left a job of 18 years, to start his own business about 9 years ago. A lot of the motivation was to have a means to train our sons in more areas, It has been very helpful. BUT, I do know many people just won't have this opportunity. It has served us well. This is the most important items I can thing of , off the top of my head! Enjoy your men to be!! kim
