  1. My husband and I made a decision when our children were young, THEY would pay for their schooling Our oldest is doing online Bible school , is married, working full time w/ CRU, wife and 2 kids. Our 2nd just graduated w/ his accounting degree, worked full time, took him 6 years but doable, and just finished his CPA exams and passed! Our 3rd, a daughter, borrowed money w/ us cosigning, for beauty school, lived at home a year after graduating, and paid it off. Our 2nd, said he was and would do it himself again, doesn't think parents should pay, it watched students waste away their college, because they didn't have to work for it. just my 2 cents! some of the above applied for grands, scholarships etc. and were awarded some, but not much $ our 4th child is now attending Jr. college, working and paying for it herself, lives at home to do so. 2. I am also having the same problem :confused1:
  3. I've made 2 different notebooking pages for Sewing and Crocheting. Does anyone know where I could post these for "Free" downloads for interested parties? Kim boyenger@wheatstate.com
  4. we did alpha last year, and my 7 yos loves math also. BUT he also get's hung up on these 6 + ? = 10 and he usually puts 16? unless I remind him how to work it w/ the blocks. THen he gets them, but he always wants to add the 2 numbers he says together. Now to answer your question , whether to move on, I finally did, but would make up a couple of these a day for him to do w/ the blocks, and most of the time now, he remembers the correct way to get the answer, we are in the Beta book lesson 9. Practice, Practice , Practice! kim
  5. My 6th grade daughter did upper grammar, she's a really good reader; the vocab is a lot more for the upper grammar. You may want to look at some of the Literature and see if she is able to handle the content. kim
  6. yes, they are arranged by rules and difficulty levels. The rules are given before the test and are to be written down in the space provided, if they miss words, they refer to the task cards for activities for that specific rule, I've used this program the whole way and am on my 2nd go around! I love it. kim
  7. I added the CD's for STOW, which is great, and gives me a break from reading aloud kim
  8. All reading is done in print, so that gets my vote! kim
  9. my hubby would scream if we got up w/ him! he also likes to sneak away quietly! So I gladly oblige, we get up around 8:30 M-TH/ we sleep in on Fridays till 9:00 and go to bed around midnight, then everyone sleeps in until about 9:30-10:00 on Saturdays, I try and make sure they get plenty of play/ wearing out-time, so they can be to bed by 9:00 on Sat. to get up at 8:00 for church on Sundays! During school days, bedtime is 9-9:30 kim
  10. 9 yo????? Wow I didn't even hint at anything "sex" until they were at least 13!! and 1 is now married, and figured it out just fine? I would just put it away until he was more mature to handle this info! just my 2 cents kim
  11. I used SP w/ all 3 of my older children for the last 7 years of their homeschooling. I'm using it again w/ my younger ones, and from my experience, the child needs a very firm grasp of the phonics rules, if they don't you need to implement the activities and games a lot more. We wait until they are in 3rd grade before we used SP. kim
  12. My daughter absolutely loves "Picture This!" http://www.bibledraw.com/indexNormal.htm sample; Cover; My daughter has done this for the last 3 years. We do only 2 Bible books a year, since she started them in the 3rd grade kim
  13. I love, love "Considering God's Creation" it is a notebook making curriculum w/ songs to memorize, and many hands on things, I've used it twice now, once w/ my older kids and am doing it again this year w/ my younger http://www.eagleswingsed.com/products/cgc.html kim
  14. THanks so much for the info, I think I'll get it! We are one family who has made "BuildaBear" successful! kim
  15. I've have this in my wishlist, but had never heard anything about the book? Did you think these would be doable for 6th grade and younger? w/ just a few kids? kim
  16. I think that was an excellent idea! and it looks wonderful kim
  17. http://www.crown.org/Tools/ We used this w/ our older children, its From Crown Ministries that was started by the late " Larry Burkett" Their is a free resource for careers there kim

  20. My daughter in law and I wandered the same thing?????? kim
  21. Have you bought new curriculum for this year? if so I would get the kids started on their Math. Then Set aside a specific day or 2 for planning each week, until it's finished then start in adding 1 subject each day! Example: Math for the first week Following week: Add Reading/ Phonics Next week: Add Language ARts etc.... Until you're working a full week of SChool! Just my 2 cents! Your school will go much smoother with organization! On a side note my 6th grader loves to organize, so Maybe you could incorporate their help! kim
  22. This was also my thinking! also I'm praying you'll have an opportunity to share openly w/ your DH how you really feel about this kim
