  1. I used it for 10 years now, I love it, because the kids don't have to do unnecessary workbook pages, if they need reinforcement on a rule, there are games to play, or other reinforcement ideas. The Main reason I first went to SP, was because my kids can no longer memorize the words for a test, they are quizzed daily on their natural spelling abilities. I love it, It is not really recommended until 3rd grade or until Phonics is very concrete in their memory kim
  2. We had a date night last friday and went to see it, we also love the first 2. We really enjoyed all the humor and the portrayal of the Dragon King and his soldiers, it really made me curious on the real history behind the movie. So I've been doing some research. i was Also disappointed the wife was played by a different actress! kim

  9. The only question I HATED as an adoption mom! is .............." Is this your grandchild?" Other than that, I love, love , love to talk about our adoption and our kiddos! I never get offended w/ questions of genuine interest! Your comment wouldn't have offended me. I've even had people ask; " Are they brother and sister?" now yes they are! but I KNOW what they mean, they mean are they biological siblings! So I just answer; " yes and Yes!" then they feel a little embarrassed and I laugh it off! Maybe it's different for parents who couldn't have any biological children. I'm also pretty thick skinned! kim
  10. I've used these notebooking pages alot! I'm just starting STOW, So not sure how I'll use them yet. But w/ our American History last year, I used a lot of these Notebooking sets, I have my kids do their writing on a page that correlates w/ the writing. for ex; Civil war, I find a notebooking paper that has a graphic that matches up w/ the assignment. I've really liked using them kim

THe Life of Faith Books by Mission Press(CC) are some of here favorites, she's read all of Ellies, Kathleen, and has read some of Violets and Millies. My daughter really loves series! For school this year we are doing Ancient History w/ TOG yr 1; so she'll be reading the recommended literature kim
  14. we Have 5!!! WE had 3 biological children in 3 years, and I didn't think I could handle anymore, so I had my tubes tied, when our youngest turned 4, I really wanted more, but My tubal was not reversable? A decision I really regret! It took me several years for Hubby to consider adoption! Then some people from our church adopted 2 babies from Russia, and He was hooked and we adopted 2 children from Guatemala from the same birth mom! Wish we could adopt more! but $$$$ kim
  15. I thought about 1 more thing I did when they were younger! we did Nature Walks through each season, THey would beg to do this. We would pack a clipboard, paper, colored pencils, nature guide book, camera; then when we found something, we would draw it, take a photo of it, and maybe a sample - like a wildflower, then go back to the house and read about it, and finish coloring it in, we'd put this on nature journal paper http://www.donnayoung.org/science/natj/natrjrnl.htm sometimes, We'd copy a nature poem on the lines. kim

  20. Wow! Some really educated moms! I was a Beautician, and had my own shop in our home! I worked pt in my home shop while I homeschooled our older 3, Then DH bought a business and I closed the shop, and we adopted 2 more kiddos! kim NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO WORK! I love my freedom!
  21. It sounds more like a couple days of work, for my 5th grader last year, and she's an avid reader, we did about 5- 10 pages of History Spine ( depending on how much info was on each page) 30 pages of History literature ( to be done independently) Then if we had another book, I would only assign about 5 pages? is she doing all of this independently? or are you reading some aloud? But so much depends on how well your child reads or likes to read? and whether your doing it aloud together? kim
