  1. We're talking about the season finale for season 3. The link I shared is to a blog that has all season 3 episodes.
  2. I can't believe it. The last scene seemed to finalize it, but I'm hoping for a miracle.
  3. My 10 y.o. is really enjoying it also. She keeps stopping to tell me funny parts or share a lightbulb moment, "Hey, remember when we read about this in SOTW?" I haven't read it myself yet, but hope to soon.
  4. Oh, wow. I'm glad Larbalestier won and got the cover changed.
  5. Oh, I'm sorry. That stinks. Congrats to your son on a high score anyway! I bet you can expect good scores on his SAT.
  6. Oh, I know several people in my family of origin who would agree wholeheartedly with the article. They are also the ones who see discrimination everywhere and tell their dc the teacher doesn't like them, they didn't get the job, etc., because they're hispanic. Total victim mentality and I'll have none of it for my dc. Ironically, they're not readers and aren't deliberate about raising readers  , but I can see them buying books with hispanic characters for solidarity purposes, and I find that sad as well.
  7. I'm hispanic. I was an avid reader as a child, and can honestly say I never felt marginalized because my books did not have hispanic protagonists. Not only that, but if any teacher ever gave my child a book because their skin color matched...oh, mercy. I'm not even going to write anymore because I found that article so incredibly annoying.
  8. My 8th grader is in Henle and she is taking a class alongside students who are new to Latin, so yes, they do start at the beginning. The difference is that with her background of LL, the class is easy and enjoyable for her, while some of the other kids don't feel quite the same way.
  9. I dropped the Latin ball with my older two, but I've been pretty faithful about keeping my middle two on track. The first thing I would say is that daily chants and vocabulary review is a must. My 10 y.o. is in LL2 but I still review vocabulary from book 1 with her. I don't go back to the very beginning every day, but I do try and get to it once a week. Current vocabulary is daily, though. Chants are also daily, and if I don't have time to do it with her, I send her to a sibling with her flashcards. This daily memory work has been very effective in helping her retain not only definitions but also proper cases when translating sentences. She's usually translated the sentences correctly while I'm still trying to figure out how she knew to use the genitive singular instead of the nominative plural, lol. My 8th grader is in Henle right now. She played around with Memoria Press's French over the summer and thinks she wants to pursue French in high school, alongside Latin. She did say having a Latin background made learning French easy :). Her experience has convinced me to concentrate on Latin in grammar/middle school years and start a second language in high school.
  10. I just tried calling them and a very nice young man told me he didn't have access to the codes. Said they were computer generated and they didn't keep records of the numbers. Maybe they've changed the system since you called in previous years?
  11. I see a start and end date but no info. re. day/time. Can you direct me to where that is found?
  12. Maria Miller is wonderful. I recently contacted her to beg for files I lost when I transferred computers. Even though the original purchase was so long ago I couldn't even tell her what year it was, she promptly re-sent the links I needed and we didn't have to skip a beat in math (my kids were thrilled . ) Love it when I find a company with great customer service and is just right for my dc!
  13. Isabelle is a Pig was enjoyed by my girls. There is an accompanying cd with a catchy tune, too.
  14. :iagree: My college boy thanks me for making him do R&S, and the comments his college profs make on his papers are just so pleasant to read. ;)
  15. Thanks for the great idea. I'm implementing this today! :001_smile:
  16. :iagree: This is great advice. Another thing that helped me was reading Introverts in the Church. Not only did I stop feeling like there was something wrong with me because I didn't want to talk to everyone in sight, it helped me understand extroverts, as well.
  17. What do you mean you're not preparing him enough? He's not supposed to know the memory work ahead of time; if you mean he doesn't learn the new grammar in class fast enough, that's ok~you review that at home. I have three children in Foundations, and sometimes they learn the memory work to the same tune, sometimes they learn different tunes, or no tunes at all. It really doesn't matter how it's introduced at class, because I know how each one learns best at home, and that's how I'm going to review, and ultimately how they will end up learning it. I've been amazed at how just 15 minutes of review each day gets all those facts into their heads. My youngest does struggle with some pronunciation, and sometimes will drop a word here or there, but I'm careful to correct once, then move on because the last thing I want is him to get frustrated. He loves CC, in fact all my dc say it's their favorite day of the week. Btw~I have the flashcards and have yet to open them. They aren't really necessary. CC connected is overwhelming. I had to take a few hours to understand it and find my favorite people to "follow" in the file sharing section. Maybe you can ask others in your community whom they like to search for?
  18. I love your Great Work and Best Job displays! I have two little ones who would respond well to the opportunity to display their work in such a way. :001_smile: Great job organizing.
  19. Our personal integrity should not depend on what other people do. But, yes, it does stink when others do not behave honorably. :grouphug:
