  1. Today we did a section of the IP book and it had 6 or 8 write the numbers in words, and another 6 or 8 read the words and write the numbers. I only had him write 1000. There was much less fuss about math. We even set the timer to see how fast he could get through the pages! Although, he asked me what came after TH and I said sound it out...what makes the "o - u" sound oops...meant to say the "ow" sound, he laughed and finished writing the word!
  2. My son will love this!! Especially the Mario Brothers one!
  3. Neither, I prefer a cold coke! I do drink iced tea sometimes. I love the smell of coffee, but I cannot stand the taste!
  4. Lily Grace stole 143 cookies!

Rules of the game: if you find this (anyone except the cookie thief themselves) then post here to say "I caught the cookie thief! BUT... someone else took 143 cookies from the cookie jar!" That way we know this player has been caught and we'll look on another profile. Next, copy this entire post and paste it onto someone else's profile (player must have more than 100 posts and must have been active in the last month.) Lastly, change the numbers so each increase by one. It will be easier to track that way. Please post your findings in the thread entitled SOMEONE STOLE A COOKIE! Forum Game. Have Fun!

  5. Martha stole the cookies! I have to get to the computer, then I will post a clue.
  6. I found the thief!!

  7. We are using English 2. We do most of it orally. That keeps it fast paced.
  8. If it is important or mid-conversation I will hold my hand in front of my mouth. That is rare...except if it is just me and dh....then I am less well mannered ;)
  9. That is a great idea! It teaches them why they need to know how to write them as they practice!! I might grab an old book from a closed account for tomorrow! But...how do you do them orally?? Just say the number out loud? Do you make them say the hyphens?
  10. Someone stole 140 cookies!! Clue: Sonic (not the drive-in) times 4.
  11. Hedgehogs4 stole 140 cookies!

  16. I caught the thief!! Yeah!!!

  17. The practice books are so you don't have to write out every sentence. It is a time saver.
  18. That is a great site! I spent hours designing these in power point (I added pics, but getting the lines correct took forever!!! I will be using this from now on!
  19. Aidan Flynn - DH is Irish and has red hair, Flynn means son of the red-haired one. We pickrd Aidan because it sounded good with Flynn. Lilly Grace - I love the name Lilly and my friends called me Grace in college. I am a dancer, but I tend to fall a lot and run into walls....and we like the Christian meaning of Grace too.
  20. Thanks, that's what I assumed. That is the only part of school that I ever hear whining about...writing, especially numbers! He wrote his dictation lesson with no fuss, write the numbers....I think it bores him. He wants to do the real math!
  21. I have my 5 almost 6 year old in Singapore 2A. Right now, it has a lot of exercises on writing the numbers as words. He is an excellent speller, but he hates to write. We do the minimal amount of writing as possible in his school work. He does much better when we talk through things. I know that learning to write the numbers as words in an important skill to learn, but is it covered again in later books? I know I can always throw it in later in handwriting worksheets or copy work, but I don't want to forget! I am leaning towards skipping at least some of the problems on each page. The page for today had him writing 11 three digit numbers as works. It was a fight to get through 6. What would you do?
  22. I am quiet in new situations, as I get to know people I get very chatty. In uncomfortable situations I am pretty quiet. When with good friends....I can get a little nutty :001_smile:
  23. Yesterday was a beautiful 85* for most of the day. We went a little north and it reached 97*. It was glorious! Plus, it rained for hours at our house!! First break in 40 days! I found a thread of people from OK and was reading that....sadly, everyone was from Tulsa, or so it seemed.
