  1. I am sorry you are going through this. I don't have much advice as my oldest is 5, but still wanted to offer hugs. Could it be school burn out? If she needs a break for a few days, then fine but she still must finish her chores. I hope she comes around soon.
  2. Praying for you and your group! That sounds like so much fun! Good luck and I am sure you will do great!
  3. I am sorry you are waiting on your period. I would be going nuts! I have no advice, just couldn't read and not respond. I hope AF shows up soon and the TTC can commence.
  4. We had a 2008 Jetta TDI and we loved it. The gas mileage is amazing and they are very reliable.
  5. No advice, just hugs. I am sorry you are going through this stressful time.
  6. I read about this too from a friend that was also stuck in that traffic. So sad and my thoughts and prayers are with the family. I can't imagine.
  7. MY DH has a common name and we have one of the most common last names. He always get stopped when he flies and at his job, there are tons of others men with his same name. Our kids have fairly common names as well so I am sure they will run into the same things.
  8. DH is terrible with profanity. I use it more than I should and that is just recently that I started using it. To me, it's not that big of a deal. I don't use it in social gatherings or public. They are just words. I guess I am pretty relaxed. :)
  9. I wanted to name my son this but didn't. Instead I made it very confusing but that is another story. :) I have always pronounced it ee-LIE-us.
  10. $160 all together. That includes internet, cable TV, home phone, taxes, and fess.
  11. My goals are for her are to... READ Write all her letters, uppercase and lowercase Do simple math Have tons of play time with her siblings and plenty of down time.
  12. Wow, awesome work for a 3 year old. I would say to give it some time, just as the others have said. :)
  13. Great thread! I had read about this ETC book 4 issue before but I am glad I came across this thread. We are in Book 2 and won't have to deal with deciding on Book 4 for several more months but I think we will skip 4, do 5 and 6, then go back to 4.
  14. For math there is IXL. http://www.ixl.com/ $9.99/month isn't too bad. HTH!
  15. Thank you for sharing. That was a great article.
  16. I have both as well. I prefer the Phonics Pathways because of the font and lack of step by step instruction. It is pretty straightforward and gets the job done.
  17. I am new to this as my ODD is starting kindergarten. I see a lot of posts here saying things such as, "DD6 is reading at a 6th grade level" or "DS7 is reading at a 10th grade level". How do you know that their reading is at a certain level? Is there some sort of test that tells you their reading level? Thanks!
  18. We can respectfully disagree and actually I do know about NARM. NARM does nothing to help the senseless, tragic deaths of innocent babies at the hands of inexperienced and undereducated midwives. Do you know about MANA? Where is their data on the several thousand homebirths that they collected stats from? They won't release it unless you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will use the data to promote midwifery. American women should be able to access that data and sadly they can not. That in itself is a telling sign of the safety of CPM attended homebirths. I will say that there are educated, competant CPMs in your profession and you may very well be one of them. The problem lies when you can't tell the difference between the negligent and the reasonable. It is a blanket title and every state has different regulations and different education standards. You could have attended a few births and passed a written test and call yourself a CPM. In those cases, your clients will never know and surely disaster will eventually strike. I am not anti-homebirth. I am pro making educated decisions and having competent care providers. I guarantee you will not be competant to deliver babies by going to a school such as midwifetobe.
  19. Becoming a CPM through one of the above programs is one of the scariest paths you could possibly take. There are no regulating agency that oversees CPMs and their practices. Essentially anyone with a high school degree could become a CPM and be responsible for delivering babies. If midwifery is truly your calling you would become a CNM. It is hard work but when you are in the business of delivering babies, you should really know what you are doing. You certainly will not know what you are doing by reading the books that midwifetobe recommends for her program. What a joke.
