My DD is in 11th grade, currently trying to do Geometry. I need something that is super simple and self-teaching. I just barely made it through Geometry in school and we are both struggling! Suggestions?? Her strong subjects are not in the math/science fields, so basically I am looking for something basic....enough to fill the square and give her what she needs for SAT/ACT. She hated TT (did that through pre-algebra) and did OK with the Lial Algebra last year.

Has anyone used the Dave Ramsey Foundations in Persona Finance Homeschool ed with their teen?

We are in Iowa, so we have the option to dual enroll, which we have done for many years for choir and band. This year, my dd was in the high school for choir and art (2 periods) and the school seemed "fine" with it. We are the first homeschoolers to do it, so they didn't quite seem to know what to do with us, but worked with us. Next year, we are going a co-op on Mondays. I have 2 dds that only want to take Art. I spoke with the principal yesterday and he was kind of snotty with me. I asked him if it would be possible for the girls to miss Mondays (already cleared it with the Art teacher and will work with him to make up anything that they miss, but ususally my girls work so fast that it won't be a problem. Art teacher told me that!). Principal said that they give grades based on "time in the seats" and that both of my girls would be issued Fs. :( Now, I have no intent of them trying to get a diploma from the public school. I just want them to have the exposure....is there anyway that a transcript "out there" somewhere might come back to haunt us? BOth girls plan to spend some time at community college and work on a teaching degree. Am I not seeing something? I hate to make my dd's choose between co-op and art!

Doesn't MOH use some supplimental books (lit books like Sonlight)? Is there a list of them anywhere? Looking for vol 2 specifically. We are thinking about joining a co-op next year that uses MOH.

My dsylexic girlie is REALLY struggling. We have used TT up to now, but she is just not "getting" algebra. State law says 4 years of Math?? I am wondering if I can get her through Algebra, let alone higher!! Suggestions???

We really like it...it's pretty intensive, but my kids seem to be getting alot out of it. I would def rec that you get the Teacher's guide unless you are REALLY good at grammar! lol :D There have been several times I had questions.

Any chance you have an older Core E to compare? I am so torn...we really don't the funds to order another IG right now when I won't need it until Sept....but I really don't like SL LA either, so an increase in $$ if not of my list of fav things either. :( We are using Core D (2010 version) now. Do I need to panic and try to get funds together to order E before the switch? Would using an older E be OK? I usually don't buy the individual books from SL anyway...

Thanks for your help! I see you have a housefull too :) I think alot of it has to do with 3 of my kiddos being involved in spots/art/choir in the school, so I am running ALOT. They are being great about getting academics done, but I am afraid my littles will get set aside....that's why I really feel like I need a set curriculum that I can check off...and KNOW that it got done. Infants and teenagers in the same house *shakes head* :lol:

I bought used, thinking the Math was included...got it, stashed it away...and just pulled it out to look at it. It's not there :( I'm sure I misunderstood what I was buying. It has to be free. I can't spend anything right now. Dh has been unemployed since Jan and things are tough. :)
