  1. Could someone with R&S 5 grammar help me out? I am planning for next year but do not have my R&S 5 yet. How many lessons are there in the book? TIA!
  2. Is this the book? If not search Amazon for similar books. HTH!
  3. You could do it via a shared calendar. I put my weekly menus on my iCal with a link to the recipe's url (if I found it on AllRecipes) or cookbook & pg no. if it's here at home. I have a friend who always asks for dinner ideas & now she can access my calendar & go from there. HTH!
  4. I am so sorry for your daughter. Praying. :grouphug:
  5. Oooh-oooh-oooh! Have you read this thread? Protestant here, too - but seriously considering conversion. That thread was a wealth of info - I highly recommend reading it through!
  6. In 2004 when we moved into a new house we had several recommendations and all said Fisher-Paykel for the washer, GE for the dryer (as FP didn't, at the time, make their own dryers. I LOVED that machine and was so sad to see it go when we moved overseas. Wonderful washer - check it out. Oh - FWIW we were told it was a top loader that acted like a front loader, whatever that meant!
  7. We are overseas, but my DH is a GS and we are surrounded by US citizens and military. We do not live on base, however, and so I had no idea any of this happened until I started reading FB this morning. In all honesty, I am a bit unnerved. I wish I was back in the US for safety reasons, if nothing else. I don't truly expect anything bad to happen to me here, but being in a country where I don't speak the language or really know what is going on locally is a bit (just a bit) frightening at times. When I miss America the most is at times like the Fourth of July. I want to fly my flag. I have a great balcony ;) - I'd love to hang a red, white, & blue bunting there. I want to celebrate and wear a patriotic tee. I want to have a USA sticker on my car. But we are told not to. Not to draw attention to ourselves. We never wear or do anything that screams "American" while out in public. We try to talk in low voices in places like the S-Bahn so we don't draw attention. Sometimes I want to shout, LOL! All in all I feel very safe here, but there are times, like today, when I feel less so and wish we were back in the USA. May I just say that your post is beautifully written (I didn't want to cut any off the quote!) and really struck a chord with me. Well said. Very well said.
  8. I had the best one ever, IMNSHO :D It was a homeschool-themed license plate, and it said HMWRKS. I was so sad when we moved to Germany & I had to get rid of it. Headed out the door, but anxious to see what everyone else says!
  9. Does anyone have any favorite iPad apps for addition facts? DD#2 is getting ready to move into Multiplication in SM-1B and I like to give her a fun "game day" to celebrate the end of the Numbers to 40 section this Fri. I'd really like it to be ! Am looking on iTunes but also hoped someone here would have a fave! Thanks!
  10. I have the 64 GB model. DH has always said to get the most memory that we can afford, and I have never been sorry. I like not having to pick and choose what goes onto my iPad. Right now I have about 3 GB in apps and the rest is filled with music (we have over 75 GB!), video (slideshows & movies), photos, all of my pdf knitting patterns, and several e-books. Do I need all of the memory? No. But I like having it - especially for times like this summer when I will be on a three-month long trip to the US with no consistent access to any "computer" other than my iPad.
  11. Congrats! Five pounds is awesome. It used not to feel like such an accomplishment to me, until a friend told me to pick up a 5 lb. bag of sugar! Five pounds is a lot! :iagree: the bold - WTG!!! WTG for your DH! That is an impressive loss. I hope he will be able to break through his plateau soon. I'm sure that it can be frustrating, but he has done so, so well! That's almost six bags o' sugar, LOL!
  12. For lunch today the girls had peanutbutter & banana sandwiches. We doctor them up (I think I read this on Rachael Ray's site) with cinnamon and honey. Delicious! I had about 1/4 banana, as I wasn't hungry. New for us today was adding math back into the mix, after a 3-wk break. It went well and I'm glad we took the break. I wanted continue with our WWE, started last week, but was out of printer ink and couldn't print the workbook sheets. Thurs. we will be taking a field trip with other American hs-ers to a German church that gives tours (in English for us!) of their Ostergarten (Easter garden). Translated, it looks like we will be able to "experience the Passion and Easter story with 'all your senses'. You will enter into the events around Jerusalem. Starting with the Last Supper to go over the arrest of Jesus to the crucifixion...Experience the resurrection from a new perspective." We are very excited about this!
  13. Any more NoS Diet followers out there? Last week I did well and followed NoS, but showed a 1/2 lb. gain on the scale this morning :glare: I had Pizza Hut pizza last night - loaded with sodium, I'm sure. My weigh-in day when I did WW was on Mondays, and I have continued to weigh in on Mondays out of habit. But - I wonder if I should weigh in on Sat. mornings instead. When do you weigh? Looking forward to hearing from y'all!
  14. How about knitting or crochet? I taught myself both using Knitting Help and YouTube videos. It's portable - I take my knitting everywhere. I'll even knit while standing in line, waiting on an app't., etc.
  15. I iked this part, "Everybody is average, but you want that average to be very high."
  16. All of our family is in the Triad. I had no idea anything had happened until I saw this post. :grouphug: for those families affected.
  17. Thanks, ladies :grouphug: I am in a much better frame of mind this morning, which might not have been the case had I consumed mucho Prosecco last night ;) I truly am incredibly lucky to get to live here in beautiful Germany. My parents, brother, and SIL were all here for 10 days at Christmas, the girls and I get to go home for three whole months this summer, and my other SIL just emailed that she and her boys (my DDs favorite cousins!) will be here for an entire month next summer. Life is good :) Now if I could just get hold of my friend in S. Korea this morning. It's 4:30 PM her time - where IS she, LOL?!?!?
  18. :iagree: I can not stand it, either. It really does sound disrespectful to me. So interesting what is customary in different parts of the country!
  19. I always wanted 'em... But instead I ended up with a blonde bob. How'd that happen???
  20. Same here. I was taught to say it - and still do to almost everyone! Although my parents didn't say ma'am and sir to my brother and me, I have always answered my DDs with ma'am and they just naturally say it. On occasion, they will forget & I'll gently remind them. That's it! FWIW I was raised and lived in the south for all but 4 years of my life, and we'll probably go right back as soon as our time here in Germany is over.
  21. If I call my family in the US, it's 1st thing in the morning there. To call my friend in Korea is worse, as she is 8 hours ahead. By the time we are done with school most days she is already in bed. It's been almost two years of this and I am just tired of it all. I used to talk to both my Mom & friend almost daily. Now I am lucky to do so 1x/mo... Thank goodness DH is bringing home Prosecco... :cheers2:
  22. I hate the time difference between here (Germany) and the US. And Seoul (where my best friend lives) as well. Sometimes a girl just wants to talk on the phone. I really, really hate it. :glare: That's all...
