  1. How about this? It comes out to be less than $30.
  2. Wait...can you deposit it into your bank account?
  3. What version of Word is being used? In Word 2010 it seems relatively simple to turn the equation into what they call "Normal Text." Also, from what I've seen from academic papers, it seems to be the standard for mathematical notation to be in "italics" in order to distinguish it from normal discussion text. Sorry that I couldn't help more.
  4. My 7 (nearly 8 yr old) is 60% in height for girls her age and her bare heel just barely touches the ground when she's sitting properly upright in the chair. Here's a chart I found online for chair size guidelines. HTH!
  5. We have a rectangular 30"x72" table with height-adjustable legs that cost ~200. It's very solid (compared to a cheaper standard melamine folding table from Staples), a good amount of space for my 4, and a great height for the little ones. I didn't consider a clover or round table because i felt it compromised on the amount of space each kid would have. Have you looked at Wayfair for options? They also carry chairs that look reasonable. We have ones like the 14" school stack chairs.
  6. I've used cloth diapers with all four of my kids, washing with 2-3 tablespoons of tide detergent with no problems. It could be a reaction to the detergent (either one she's using) and it could also be that there is too much soap residue still left on the diapers. Why is she adding detergent twice? What cycle is being used? Extra rinses? I usually ran a pre-soak cycle, a heavy-duty wash cycle, and one last extra rinse, only adding detergent once. Towels and cloth diapers can easily have too much detergent build-up. If she runs the clean diapers through the washer with no detergent, does she see suds? :) Hope she's able to find the source of the problem...
  7. We have a Samsung one as well and I've never had a problem with the doors popping open. Also in terms of the long deli drawer, when I open both doors and pull out the drawer, the doors stay open...no crashing here. Maybe the fridge is not level? I can definitely see the appeal of the single door top fridge/bottom freezer drawer models but the french door ones just look nicer to me. Also, we have one that's 29 cu ft so I feel that I have plenty of storage space; choosing a french door fridge doesn't mean less space necessarily.
  8. :grouphug: :iagree: on all points. Also, is the teacher from China? If so, there are cultural differences in terms of the teacher's expectations of the student-teacher relationship (expecting obedience and conformity...not valuing independence). Also, maybe she just doesn't understand little boys? Is there really value to continuing the class? What it it turns your son off to learning Chinese? In terms of being thin-skinned, you have to realize that everyone has problems and many times when people are being negative, it's not about you, it's actually their own issues that are manifesting themselves. :grouphug: again.
  9. Everyone in my family (of origin) wears glasses. My much younger sibling wears those special corrective contact lenses and has had no issues with them. I'll have to ask my mom for details on how well these worked in terms of my sibling's vision and how much they cost for how long. My oldest dd wears glasses and personally I'm not interested in getting these for her, but I can see how they can be a good solution.
  10. I had a similar problem with suddenly not being able to load our library website. Eventually we rebooted our router and that solved it for us
  11. :iagree: I've never had an all-in-one touch screen desktop but I agree that it seems safer to get a regular desktop since you have a young one that seems prone to breaking computers ;). Or, maybe you should purchase insurance/protection plan that includes coverage against accidental damage.
  12. We have both 15" and 17" laptops. I voted for the 17" because it sounds like you want it mostly for use at home, not while traveling. The 17" screen comes in handy for watching shows, having screen space to have two things open at once, and just a larger space for everything (you can enlarge font size for the kids and still see a lot on the screen at one time for example). If you had needed more portability, I would have voted for 15" (or even smaller) because the 17" will be large/bulky when you try to travel.
  13. It seems like there are no hard and fast rules. People on both sides can be unreasonable. When we bought our house in 2010, we had looked at the comps for each house we put an offer on and we had a pretty good understanding of what each house was truly worth. We offered a little below that (1-2%) for negotiating room. We tried to approach this process rationally, not emotionally, because it was very important to us that we bought at a reasonable price so we could get out 5 years later (we're only here for 5 years) without a huge loss. Two sellers refused to even negotiate with us and, you know what, both later sold for less than what we offered them (:willy_nilly: craziness). The only house that we didn't offer close to what we thought it was worth is the one we bought LOL. It was originally was out of our price range, but they reduced their asking price significantly and we offered close to what we could afford, which was another 10% less than their lowered offering price. We expected to have to come up but they accepted our first offer. Basically, each seller will be motivated to a different degree and it can't hurt to try even if it's technically out of your price range. BTW, we used a buyer's agent, which is the only real suggestion I have. Best of luck!
  14. I'm actually an Excel user but I found this thread on Apple Support discussions. HTH!
  15. :iagree: From what I've read, the admission rates of the two schools you listed (highly ranked programs) are around 3-5%. When my DH applied to his PhD program (not clinical psychology but similarly tough admissions rates, tougher actually) we applied to 19 schools all over the country and were accepted into 5. We got into a top 5 program but were rejected by 7 schools that were much lower ranked . When the admission rates are that low, it feels like a complete roll of the dice. :grouphug:
  16. One of my DD's has always had more difficulty speaking clearly. She still can't make the R sound correctly (it sounds like a W) but after looking online, it seems there's still time for her to figure it out (she's 5 and we're going to wait to see if she figures it out by age 8). In looking around online, I saw something called Speech Buddies which is a handheld tool to help them make the correct sound (different tools for different sounds). I also saw in which an ESL teacher tries to teach the difference between the R and W sound. I haven't tried it out practically but I thought it was interesting.
  17. Building off of gardening momma's work...changes underlined and in red when the underline is hard to see:tongue_smilie:. Dear Mr. SB, As we've discussed on the phone, I am the ..... and we [do this, e.g., "organize, fundraise, and run..."]. [Another sentence discussing some impressive activities you do, e.g., "Our Scouts have ..., ..., and ..."] The Scouting organization presents a valuable programming option for boys and girls in the community and surrounding area from ages 5-14. No child is turned away due to financial constraints, nor due to disability. We promote the virtues of service, commitment, leadership and honour through community service projects, camps, badge work, outdoor skill building, and personal development. Dedicated leaders volunteer their time to ensure boys and girls receive the opportunities required to achieve these goals. The 1st V Scouts Group is nearly as old as the town of V itself. We have been here supporting generations of V children in reaching their full potential and growing to become valued members of the community. The traits and skills developed during their time in scouting become the same traits and skills that help them as adults in the workplace, in their commitment to service in the town, and in raising the next generation. [instead of a statement of how you would like long-term financial assistance, discuss what the current financial situation means for Scouting, e.g., "Due to ...we currently cannot provide such opportunities..." Next, I added a reworked statement of request for funds and an audience.] I would like to request an audience with the board to discuss how financial assistance from the Parks, Recreation and Culture board would make it possible for us to continue serving the community's children and to keep the great tradition of Scouting alive in V. Please let me know when the board would be available to meet with me or when you would like to discuss this further in person or over the phone. I am available to meet [this time, this time, or this time] or I am available on the phone at ##### [at this time, this time, or this time]. I truly appreciate your time and assistance. Obviously, everyone's writing style is different, so please take what you'd like and leave the rest ;). HTH!
  18. It should be fine. Here's the official word from Microsoft.
  19. :iagree: I voted to get the couch you love. I don't see a problem with "blocking" a window. Our living room has a bank of windows (12 ft long) on the long wall and our sectional is necessarily placed right in front of it (2 ft away from wall). Looking at this Pottery Barn page, it looks fine to have furniture in front of windows. Would it be flat against the wall/window? Even so, it could still look great.
  20. I agree that this was a mistake on the school's part. However, I'm mainly posting because some of things I'm reading on this thread are passing some pretty harsh judgements on chicken nuggets, HFCS, and store-bought applesauce in wasteful little plastic cups :w00t:. We eat plenty of healthy food made from scratch but sometimes we also eat :ack2::svengo::ack2: Tyson chicken nuggets, applesauce in plastic cups, and juice sweetened with HFCS. I'm just so ignorant and irresponsible.....some government program should be created so someone can come to my house, take away the junk I feed my poor kids, and provide alternatives that are acceptable to a more enlightened group of people ;).
  21. I'll give it a shot (but I'm not an expert). What software are you using to scan--Windows Fax & Scan? If so, here's some info from Microsoft's site
  22. The way you're thinking of it, it should read "In 14 years, I will be twice as old as the camp now." Does that help?
  23. I tuck all the kids in after story time. My oldest is 9.5 and is the one most insistent on our bedtime ritual, especially hugs and kisses. For some reason, it hadn't occurred to me until I saw this post that this might end in the future :crying:.
