  1. Me too. Our made a bullet point synopsis of what the worst problems were. He even told us that he didn't want us moving into the house until a few thing were corrected (mold and electrical) and gave us a ball-park estimate for fixing that... which we took to the owners. Our realtor also gave us ball-park estimates from her experience on fixing several things in the house. But, it wasn't perfect and there were some things that I wished *we'd* been more proactive about. But, it was nothing like the OP is describing.
  2. Hornblower...what a great photo and what an adorable puppy. Glad phase 1 is behind you. Enjoy your little break.
  3. I'm the one with the choir guy insisting I shake his hand. It technically hasn't been resolved because I've had no more encounters. He's been there a few times that I've been there, but he keeps his distance. I have run through the scenarios of what I'll do or how I'll respond if it happens again. Now that I'm prepared I suspect that means it will never happen again because that's how my life goes. I remember the other incident but also don't remember who posted about it.
  4. Not enough "likes" is right. OMG! I cannot believe how awful some adults can be. So sorry.
  5. I was going to say the same thing. Hugs... Quill. My mom became very difficult (embarrassing in public) as she aged. I fear she would have ended up on social media somewhere with one of her public rants if she hadn't been mostly housebound the last 2-3yrs of her life. Parkinson's add a new level of issues. hugs.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions. We've had Ikea mattresses in the past have not been impressed. I read somewhere that the thinner the memory foam mattress the firmer it is so I don't now if the 10" or the 8" would be best. I don't want a rock, but OTOH I don't want to sleep in a concave.
  7. When we moved here back in Oct. we got rid of our old king sized mattress because it was way too soft. We happened to have 2 X-Long twin mattresses from when we had the kids living at home. We put them into the King frame which I topped with a king sized feather mattress topper. But ever since we moved I wake up EVERY morning with a very sore back. I struggle to stand up straight and get out of bed. Man, it makes me feel old. My dh says to just buy a replacement mattress for my side. Ugh. Any recommendations?
  8. I remember you. So very sorry about your health issues.
  9. I so agree about the Louvre. So many people taking pictures of a postage stamp** and missing all the other cool stuff. So glad you had such a positive experience. Did you make it to the Rodin museum in Paris? It's in his home. I loved that one. We also ended up at ND on a Sunday morning. Not sure how that happened... but it did feel awkward. I also remember visiting another church or cathedral and liking it very much. I had a "moment" there that I will never forget...but I can't remember which church/cathedral it was in!! ** okay, it's not a postage stamp but it is surprisingly small.
  10. she is indeed very lovely. Good luck with her audition today.
  11. I was out all morning and when I got home it was sitting by my front porch. LOL. I haven't taken it out of the box because it's super windy here and it's a big box. I'll wait until someone is around to help me. Crazy... but I'm glad it's arrived.
  12. I guess it's possible they broke it while it was on the truck.
  13. I'm pretty sure it's FedEx's fault. I'd been watching it's progress since last week when it shipped. I've sent a complaint to the company I bought the swing from. I told them I realized that it was FedEx's fault and wanted to know how to complain directly to them. I figured if both the shipper and the buyer complain maybe something will get done sooner.
  14. Now it says it won't be delivered until next week! Ugh. This is an Amazon order and delivery was through FedEx. It's a big package: porch swing. But, shouldn't they have figured that out ahead of time??!! I'm so annoyed. I wanted it for this weekend. In the big scheme of things it doesn't matter if it's a week late... but I'm annoyed that I was anticipating it all day yesterday and it never came and that once again Amazon shipping is subpar
  15. I have actually tried that test with multiple objects and in multiple places in the main part of the house. It's amazing how much stuff can be stepped over before I finally give up and put it away.
  16. We had a home on 1/2 slab foundation (split level). I loved it but Conni is right - you need good flooring. I never remember any issues with plumbing (kitchen was on the slab). We're now on a crawl space after having lived with a basement for 20+ yrs. Please tell me your experience. Ours is not well insulated and we're slowly working on that.
  17. I was thinking the same thing... hard to believe it's been about 10yrs. Wow.
  18. Is it an amazon package? I would call Amazon and speak with them. I called them once when their delivery person left my package at the end of my driveway near the road rather than on my porch. They could tell exactly who delivered it and called them.
  19. Amazon will sometimes rent Uhaul in my area for their own shipping company. Usually this is when volume is high like at Christmas.
  20. Great quote!! I want to figure out a way to spread that one around.
  21. I'm always shocked when people don't seem to realize this. I mean, you actually have to click a button accepting that they are going to follow you if you use certain apps. We've talked here several times about IRL conversations being "overheard" by our devices. Surely, we cannot be the only people who noticed??
  22. I'm curious if anyone has considered deleting their profile by the recent revelations and Zuckerberg's statements today? I'm surprised by the shock... why is anyone surprised that they were using our information. I remember seeing comments about companies lifting data from all those silly "What kind of ...." am I type quizzes. Seems like the time is ripe for an alternative to FB.
  23. That is interesting. I wish i knew more of my paternal family history on this subject. My dad had no sisters, and my grandfather had 2. Its not something we ever talked about. FWIW, I'm the only one in my immediate family who had this... and my oldest daughter didn't have it in any of her pregnancies.
  24. I would talk with your dr. about insomnia induced by anxiety then. My daughter discovered that her insomnia was actually panic attacks happening in her sleep and waking her up. She takes the meds (I don't know which one) after she's had several bad nights in a row. She also works on dealing with her anxiety through life-style changes.
