  1. I'm usually up when it starts pouring in, but I can't seem to find a way to report it from my phone.
  2. I don't regret my Ikea cabinets either. We went with the second cheapest doors (GNOSJÖ brown-black) by sheer coincidence. We were looking at nearly identical cabinets elsewhere and were quoted about 5× what the ikea set cost.
  3. The official date order in Canada is 2016-03-14 or 14/03/2016 I have no idea why the punctuation reverses the order. I always assumed one was French (no idea which though lol) But so many companies are American or use American software that 3/14/2016 happens all the time.
  4. There was a post here quite a while ago with free mandarin resources. Hopefully this link works http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/76594-mandarin-chinese-links-to-free-lesson-plans-worksheets-and-other-resources/
  5. My local Chinese cultural centre runs Chinese as a second language classes. They are very reasonably priced (less than $3/hr) but you must commit to the full school year. If you have a local cultural centre, they likely have a similar program. I'd try there before looking for a tutor.
  6. No you do not need to shave, nor should you, for electrolysis. If the hair is very long then shaving a couple days before is okay.
  7. My dh has a cpap with a full face mask. If he gets sick he still has minor apnea episodes but nothing like before. He's stopped snoring and instead of sleeping 12 hours or longer on his days off, he's down to much more reasonable 9 (he only gets around 6 or 7 when working). It's been life-changing. He hates the mask in the summer though because the air is so hot. But he does it anyway; better annoyed than dead. Also his blood pressure improved. It dropped from the high end of normal into the optimal range.
  8. There is one. Scientific reasoning. http://youtu.be/rbMqQGNeMME?list=PLg5zSTdMTJ_JI_rFrwFRvb1qj_YNSpTvU My phone is just being uncooperative.
  9. The video I can see on the main page of their website uses the account TLH Videos. I don't see a full treeschoolers episode under that name though.
  10. Signing time never had a YouTube channel... My guess is funtastic tv was using a misleading name on youtube and have since changed their name. None of the two little hands videos are available legally for free. They sell digital versions, as well as a streaming subscription https://shop.platformpurple.com/?shop=158
  11. My husband does this all the time. At about 35, he lost all sense of how old he is. He's been 2 years off before too. He was about to turn 43 and he was sure he was turning 45.
  12. Not the poster quoted, but I'm guessing common law. Here you can't have a spouse without getting married, but you can have a husband or wife as long as you meet the criteria for a common law partnership.
  13. My six year old just mastered successfully wiping after pooping. He is doing most of his work at a 5th grade level. And he still can't tie his shoes.
  14. He's aging very well. Still as sexy as ever :001_tt1: He is very slowly inching up in weight and is injuring himself more at sports because of it. He's still a "normal" body fat level though, just high for him.
  15. My husband has seen me a number of weights in a 115lb range and he prefers me in the 2nd quintile of that range. He has never complained about the aesthetics of the higher weights, his worries are entirely health related.
  16. I think it would be making sure the names were in alphabetical order, capitalized appropriately, etc. and that all the phone numbers had the right number of digits. If they had an answer key, wouldn't they just print it instead? Just my guess.
  17. I voted for "When other kids his/her age are attending preschool, if that is customary in the area" because it makes the most sense to me. My kids lost all their friends at 3 because they went to preschool and mine did not. In the social realm, we had become homeschoolers. Of course, we were not accepted by the local homeschooling community because of the ages of my kids. So we had no one for a couple years. It sucked, and even now, I do not see the point in it. As for grade level, I intend on graduating my kids a year early age wise, but they will have completed the standard 13 years of school (more for the younger). So I see no harm in calling them a grade above what they would be in a B&M school. Doing kindergarten at 4, grade 1 at 5, and grade 12 at 16, isn't a big deal if they were going 4th grade work at 6, and will probably graduate high school with at least an associates degree.
  18. Wood only at my house. Glass and stone will dull knives, and plastic cannot be cleaned properly.
  19. Our cut off is very late (March 1 after the year has started), kindergarten is optional, and school is not mandatory until the year they turn 6 (so all kids born in 2007 must start school this year). Most people send their girls as soon as they can. Boys in Jan-March typically end up with the next grade. Virtually no one holds back kids in the fall or earlier.
  20. I think that the super rich have a lot more influence than they ought to, but I do not think it is a conspiracy, or even that they are malicious. I don't think that there are secret groups that dictate what the world does, but there are very public groups that do. The UN, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and others that I'm sure I'm forgetting, all have a lot of influence on world governments, not to mention corporations. Large publically traded corporations have an obscene amount of power over governments. Because of funding (donations, loans, equity) and boards of directors (largely members of the super rich), all these groups tend to be controlled by the super rich. I don't think they're doing anything other than trying to make money.
  21. One corner would be a reading nook with cosy chairs, a table, lamp and book bin. One corner would be the art corner with easels, paper and paint storage as well as a big table. Then there would be a counter with a sink, the next corner (and/or the second half of this wall) would be the science area with storage for all the bits and bobs for experiments and possibly a gas hookup for a bunsen burner. In the middle of the room there would be a big table with appropriate chairs and foot rests (as needed for little kids whose feet do not touch the floor) where everyone does their work. There would be some sort of storage under the table for workbooks and pencils. And the table top would be made of white board material so I could explain things right beside the kid who needed the help without writing on their work.
  22. My (very distant) cousin is named Juli. It is pronounced You Lee. Occasionally people will call her Hoo Lee. I don't think she has ever been called Julie. She lives in a small town where nearly everyone is of German descent, with a few fairly recent immigrants from Colombia.
