  1. We basically work on a four day cycle here. Four days per week we do: Math English Writing Science...with two days being supplemental readings/videos Grammar 2 days per week we do: History...with one looong session Handwriting Art PE class..out of home 1 day per week we do geography Once we are finished with grammar for this year we will use soaring with spelling 4x/week. We will also add music and foreign language this summer when PE class is over.
  2. This is perfect for my little guys. Thank you for sharing!
  3. I just use water now, but I've heard of some people using a coconut oil scrub. I find the idea interesting. ETA: Here is info on the oil cleansing method: http://www.kozycarrierblog.com/2009/10/wash-your-face-with-oil.html
  4. I feel pretty covered with WWE 4x/week and FLL 4x/week (sometimes we do two lessons there)....we are on level 2. I just threw in GWG and SWS as fun additions and they serve as independent work for ds. He loves them, and it is quick and fun reinforcement of what he is learning from WWE and FLL.
  5. I would put it away for a few months and try again. Are you using FLL? My son did FLL level 1 and we just started WWE2 (skipped WWE1) and he is doing great. I didn't feel he was ready for that kind of writing at 6 or 7 years of age. FWIW, he is an excellent reader v
  6. Loving all the suggestions! We love games! I'd add Dominoes (at least double nines), Scattergories, Clue, and Pente. Maybe some cards as well...Phase 10, Rook, Set, and Monopoly Deal.
  7. I am in the "be happy they rereading" camp. :) That being said, I was able to convince my 8 yo son to read something else by starting a monthly mom/kid book discussion. We read The Westing Game last month and went to a local bookstore with a coffeeshop to discuss it (and have a snack and play Clue ;)). A couple of friend expressed an interest in joining us next month when we read From the Mixed Up Files...
  8. I have been wondering the same thing. We are in AZ and don't need to report to anyone either. Do I still need to save workbooks to prove they were done? What if we move somewhere else down the road...can they require "past records?" Will the kids care if I get rid of them? We are short on space and I'd rather recycle.
  9. I read the book so long ago I forgot that part! I have a bunch of blue folders with the 3 prongs left over from my own business. I use a separate one for each child for each subject and then file them in a file box. Now that we are into the WWE student pages I'm going to have to revisit TWTM. I always see binders at Goodwill. Maybe I'll check on the next 50% off Saturday.
  10. I agree with light yellow or a sage green. I like Behr's Scallion (I think) and something a little lighter in the same family might work for you. I live in AZ and like the colors myself.
  11. I love Moop bags too...very well-made. The price has sure risen though. Yikes!
  12. Or can you get by without the text? I'm confused. :001_huh:
  13. I would post on freecycle that you are looking for paper and art supplies. Then I'd send the kids out to search for rocks, pebbles, twigs, leaves, etc and do a bunch of earthy art.
  14. Yay! We are studying eagles and birds here this next week!
  15. I have the tote version of this in white peace print. I love it and it does go with everything!
  16. Is it glitchy for you? Mine keeps closing and I really can't navigate within it easily.
  17. I just bought it yesterday too! I look forward to getting started with. It seems it will suit my needs. Have fun!
  18. I prepared almost everything myself, relying primarily on primary sources, for my son's first year and a half. We didn't cover nearly as much as we could have if I went for ease. Now that I have a Ker as well and a toddler and a newborn, I am finally doing what I should have done long ago...buying curricula. I will cut corners elsewhere if I need to. I do still have some prep work (I.e. I didn't buy the WWE workbooks) but it is minimal. There is no price for my sanity!
