  1. Every single day by Benassi Bros (**Video may be inappropriate for some**) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ3-PtUG078
  2. If your DH is against meds, maybe you could look into other options, both medical and natural. Kids with sleep apnea can present with ADD symptoms. Try diet changes. Try giving him caffine before school work. Look into Sensory Processing disorder. I get a lot of looks when people (from strangers to Drs) ask what meds my ds is on and I say NONE. I was against meds, then decided to try it. My ds is allergic to the few we've tried already, and I'm not trying anything else for a while. It's known that my ds's sleep is very, very off, but nothing can be done (yet!). He has a history of food allergies. He still has some lingering GI problems, and severe sensory processing disorder (and more). My goals are to address my son's sleep (sleep studies show that he has an average of 100 spontaneous arousals each night), aggressively treat his asthma, figure out his GI issues, and get him on a good sensory diet, and continue his good food diet. If ALL of our ducks are in order and he's still having problems, then I will try more meds.
  3. I usually cook breakfast for the week over the weekend and freeze it. DS loves pancakes, and loves them frozen, so it really doesn't get any easier. Other than pancakes, I'll make a frittata, granola, freeze lots of fruit for smoothies (1 cup yogurt, frozen banana, frozen strawberries), or they'll have cereal.
  4. We have way too many sheet sets. DS is still in diapers full time at night, and leaks often. During the cold months, the plumbing that the washer is hooked up to doesn't drain right. There are time when I can't wash 2-3 sets of pee sheets. Gross, yes, but nothing I can do about it. DS has maybe 5 complete sets, with comforters. DD has 3. I have 4.
  5. I sort of ignore. Ex. DS leaves his cereal bowl on the floor (his choice to sit on the floor), I tell him to clean up after himself. He says "no, I hate you, I wish I was never born." I say "yes, I love you too, I'm glad you were born, now clean up your cereal bowl." I try to show him that I accept his feelings, I love him, and I will not get into a fight with a 6 year old!
  6. Anything, everything, whatever! Was curious while reading the no lunch from home thread(s).
  7. We also have thousands of Legos, and my kids play with them all the time. Check out the lego website. There is a section where people share their designs, and I'm pretty sure there are project based instructions.
  8. I made a sign for my neighbor to hang on his door for my kids. One side was a stop sign and the other side was a smiley face. He hung it on the inside of his door so my kids couldn't turn it around! My 2 and the neighbor's son all have autism or asperger's and this was the best way to keep everyone from bugging each other.
  9. My 10 y/o dd has asperger's. She can, and sometimes does sit in front of the TV all day long. Most of her interests have an educational value, like most of animal planet, but she also loves japanese anime. Mine are still in PS, so this only happens on weekends or sick days, and I don't let it happen every weekend.
  10. Kids were playing across the street and over the guardrail, before school. I yell for them to get back. DS is in front of DD, slips coming over the guardrail, and lands on his face in the road. He starts crying and oblivious DD tells him to stop whining because they have to go to school. She had no idea he had fallen a foot away from her! She was more upset about the injury than he was! A few years ago DS was happily playing with a tape measure. DD decides to join him. She extends it all the way, locks it, and starts running. DS bends down and grabs it with both hands! Only needed 4 stitches in one finger.
  11. Thanks everyone! She just switch from french to spanish! LOL. As long as she is settled before school starts, I'm good. I hope I don't have to add math for her, but she still doesn't know her facts, so I'm just concerned. I guess we should just drill this over the summer. Violin lessons will be 2x per week plus practice.
  12. Health is probably the only thing I've been able to keep up with my kids! DS has asthma, so both kids have a decent understanding of the lungs and how they work, how the meds work, how asthma can mask anaphylaxis, and what to do if he has trouble breathing. DD is getting a little chubby, so we're talking about healthy food choices and she's learning to cook. Both have a basic understanding of what to do is someone is choking, has a seizure, passes out, etc. Safety is constantly talked about since DD has Asperger's and doesn't have "gut feelings" about some situations. We have 3-4 human anatomy books. DD has the american girl body book. I use injuries as lessons (DS fell on his face on the cement one day, and while looking in a mirror, we talked about why it needs to be cleaned, and why this will be checked out by a Dr [wasn't sure if he fractured his cheek bone], I used it to to discuss head injuries, and why we do NOT need to call an ambulance).
  13. Reassure me that it gets easier, please. I've been using my treadclimber for a few days, but can't comfortably go more than 7-10 minutes inclined (usually because of my foot). After that I'll put it flat and continue until about 30 minutes. Yesterday I tried one of the power 90 workouts, only phase 1. I'm not sore, so I know I didn't push myself, but I couldn't do it. :( It's so hard to be motivated to continue since I can't do it yet.
  14. Everything is helpful! http://www.connectionsacademy.com/pennsylvania-school/home.aspx You can click curriculum and they will be 1st and 5th.
  15. I'm officially styarting Monday, but have been back on the treadmil for a few days. I also did one of the P90 exercises today, but just to get to know it. I'm saving for a Bosu ball, LOVE it! I've been fighting tendonitis for about 6 months now, and a bosu ball would really help. My prior PT had a few and used to give me tons of exercises to do on it. ETA: I cut coffee back to one small pot in the morning, and I'm eating more. I was drinking coffee alllllll day long and barely eating.
  16. I'm in too. I just got Power 90 today. Goal is to finish power 90 two times, and then do P90X (getting from a friend).
