  1. Real Science 4 Kids has an Elementary Physics program. We have used it and ds10 enjoyed it. Focus On Elementary Physics (previously Pre-Level I) is geared towards grades K-4. Students are introduced to the building blocks of physics ; energy, motion, types of energy, and interactions of energy. I hope this helps!
  2. Thank you! Thank you!! :hurray: Today will be a much better day.
  3. This... I had a thread like this about a year ago and the HIVE showed me this machine. I sleep so well now. :hurray:
  4. Supercharged Science? It is video based and has a lot of hands on activities. I don't know about the worksheets and tests though. Their e-science is almost all online and directed at the student. It is high $$ though, IMHO.
  5. Thanks. We have done some of the Supercharged Science free experiments, and I have purchased one of her sets but no, it is not a great fit either. She repeats herself a lot on her videos and that drives both of us a little batty. Another thing to add is that he is *not* a workbook type of kid. He likes 'quirky' things and curriculum that has 'that' humor: LoF, MUS (videos - he laughs at them), the IEW videos, etc. Maybe that will help? Thanks!
  6. DS10 has used RS4K and it was 'ok'. I liked that it was short and kept his interest. We had worked through Apologia Astronomy a few years ago but it was a much longer curriculum and he got bored with it. Once he is bored it is hard for him to learn and keep an interest. *He is on the autism spectrum, hates writing, loves the hands on experiments.* I am looking for something 'more' but don't know what. I have considered Apologia again since he is older, have RS4K on the shelf to go but then read about Elemental Science and *love* the Biology for the Logic Stage from their website. Do I want/need to go there? :willy_nilly: Without repeating the other threads, how do these three compare?? Thanks in advance. :001_smile:
  7. Ok, a new questions. I am seriously looking at the Moka pot since we cannot afford the pump machine that I would want. I read some comments about it being aluminum though and others suggesting getting stainless steel. Any comments on these? Those who have and use the Moka pot, are you concerned at all? On the flip side, everyone says this makes the best espresso between the two.
  8. :bigear: What kind of beans, and does anyone have recommendations for syrup? I like flavored lattes and am ready to go to Starbucks to buy what they use but have been educated by the hive in other areas so thought I would ask before I do. :D
  9. How do you like it? I am not a coffee drinker but *love* Starbucks Lattes. I need to be able to make them at home. ;)
  10. HHHmmm.... Where did you find a refurbished one?
  11. Thanks! I am looking at these. How do they compare to the espresso machines? I usually get the Starbucks lattes but am happy to learn more....
  12. Which model do you have ? I am still looking but hope to buy one this weekend. Thanks!
  13. I have not tried this, but it has good reviews: Original recipe makes 3 cupsChange Servings 1 cup cola-flavored carbonated beverage 1 cup canned tomato sauce 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste 1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup molasses 1/2 cup cider vinegar 2 1/2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar 1 1/2 tablespoons steak sauce 1 tablespoon yellow mustard 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon dried savory 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic salt 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce Directions In a large saucepan, mix together the cola, tomato sauce, tomato paste, butter, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, molasses, cider and balsamic vinegars, steak sauce, and mustard. Season with chili powder, savory, onion powder, garlic salt, and hot pepper sauce, and stir to blend. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a metal spoon.
  14. Praying for you and your family. Please keep us updated. :grouphug:
  15. Me! Me! :hurray: I just placed my order with Southern Seed Exchange a few days ago. I started my tomato and green pepper seeds last weekend (inside) and have been going through the seeds that I have to plan where to do put them. We have a few raised beds in the back. I need to get more soil for them before planting, but am very excited about the garden this year. It is therapeutic.
  16. Thanks, ladies! I asked dh if this could be my mothers day treat.
  17. Do you mind to share the site? Do you know anywhere else we can order these books? Thanks!
  18. Do you mind to send some links for the one you have or any that you would recommend? They have a lot of different models. Thanks!
  19. The Hive helped me when I needed a sleep machine.... Now I need a recommendation for an espresso machine. I *love* Starbucks Lattes, but cannot afford to go there as often as I would like. I have tried this cheaper espresso machine only to give it away. Yuck. Is there a good, reasonably priced machine that works well? :bigear: I have had this one from Gaggia in my Amazon cart for over a year but cannot afford it. :p I saw it at a local kitchen store, tried it there since they had one that they used and liked it. Of course. Thanks, hive!
  20. Having 2 dd's (now 22 & 23) I can only tell you that it *will* eventually end and that you *will* survive. :hurray: I cannot tell you when it will end since there is still occasional drama between my girls, but now I can just say 'work it out'. :D I cannot promise that there won't be days that you don't feel like you will survive :banghead: , but you will. Deep breaths and one day at a time..... Hugs!
  21. Same here. DS10 was very frustrated with typing until he started Dance Mat. We are going to move into another program after he is more comfortable, but for now he really enjoys Dance Mat.
