  1. :iagree: We have moved and bought during the winter 2-3 times. It may be a slower season, but there are still buyers. It is what you and your family are more comfortable with.
  2. I would bring her kibble/food as her treats for the training class. Or something that you know agrees with her. Our lab also has a very sensitive stomach and cannot tolerate grain or chicken. We purchased our own for his training class.
  3. Great idea. Thanks for this. Not to high jack this thead, but dh and I were just talking about hotel reservations and options so we do not have to use our debit cards. :)
  4. I agree with the others- get estimates in writing. But also ask your friends for referrals. I know that professionals are worth the money and are very good, but we had a fellow homeschool dad who was out of work paint our house for us. He did a very, very good job (had experience painting, but it was not his full time job) and it was around $1200. We bought the paint and supplies and paid him by the hour. With so many looking for work you may be able to find someone like we did.
  5. :bigear: No advice, but I am following this thread. DS10 is also highly sensitive and involved with scouts.
  6. I just saw this and am so very sorry. Words are inadequate right now. We will be praying for comfort for you and your family. :grouphug::grouphug:
  7. https://minecraft.net/game DS10 wants it for xmas. I am going to buy the game card at Target and put it into his stocking. :)
  8. I am so happy for your family. Tell your dh CONGRATULATIONS!!:party:
  9. I would work with the seller and move ASAP. :D One year we moved out 12/26 and closed on our new house 12/28.
  10. Semper Fi! (once a Marine, always a Marine!):D
  11. We started giving 3 things about 8 years ago when a friend shared the idea. My girls were 13 & 14 at the time. We explained what we were doing and why. In our family we do similar to OhElizabeth: *Something you want *Something you need *Something we want you to have :001_smile:
  12. Adorable!!! :001_wub: Looking at his adorable, happy face makes me forget everything else. Thanks for that... :001_smile:
  13. I usually look at Retail Me Not (dot com). Here is a code for you for Lands End and Shutterfly is here. Hope these help!
  14. Amazon has something American Girl on it's Gold Box deal today. I have copied and pasted below. I have seen threads about American Girls on here and thought someone may be able to use it. :) --------- American Girl Crafts Sew and Stuff Kit, McKenna ... Deal starts at 10:59 AM PST i
  15. DS really wants the Lego City Police Station (#7498) for Christmas. I know Amazon usually has a 'lego day' in their gold box deals but cannot remember when they do it. Plus, not every set is on sale. :tongue_smilie: If you happen to see a deal on this set, please post or PM me. :D Thanks!
  16. Thank you for your prayers. :001_smile: There are actually 3 possibilities right now. Just one needs to work out for us. ;) One position is in coastal NC where we ultimately would like to retire, but it is a long shot. The job he is hoping for and that this thread is about is in South Korea. It would be a 3 year commitment, and then we would come back to the states. We both have been overseas and love the experiences. We would like to take ds10 overseas and this is a good time with older dd's in college. I want to be near once they are married and have grandbabies. The third possibility is moving back to VA. We moved here last March and have been unable to sell our house in VA. We may be able to secure a job and go back. We don't have a beach there either, but do have family and wonderful friends. Plus, although where we are is beautiful, it is warmer in the south. :-) Thanks again for your prayers.
  17. Thank you so much! I will post more as soon as we know anything.
  18. Nice! Thanks for that idea. I have been looking at Jumbo Sequence. What are your thoughts on it?
  19. They have apples to apples and enjoy it. They also play Carcasonne a lot. Any other ideas? I know we have some larger families here. :bigear:
  20. :bigear: Bumping for you, and I will be following for ideas. We have 2 in college as well. My younger one has had similar issues with 1 of her professors.
  21. They do play a lot of games. :) Thanks for that idea. Any recommendations?
  22. We are good friends with a family of 12 (10 kids!) and I would like to give them a Christmas gift. Last year we bought individual gifts, but since we have moved and will have to mail the gift this year, I was thinking of getting a family gift. This is where I need help! Where they live there are not any zoos or museums for year long memberships. The kids range in age from 3-22. I was thinking about a movie night type gift and buying some family movies, popcorn, seasonings and a card game. Other ideas are welcome and appreciated. :D
