  1. I like them but I've also gotten some stuff from Rainbow Resource - I think they're comparable in price.
  2. The apple (or peach as Jean said - as long as it's a Georgia one:) doesn't fall far from the tree. What a sad man.
  3. my dd is taking this course online so I thought we'd need only the textbook and we'd be all set. WRONG. The back of the book has odd-numbered answers, and her teacher seems to assign more even numbered problems than odd. So - yesterday I ordered the Solutions Manual from Key Press:glare: Looking at their website all their products look like they would be helpful! In fact I asked my dd if she wanted to do Calculus at home with the DVD's next year, but she wants a real teacher she can ask real questions :)
  4. Good for you for letting him take the lead! Paris has plenty of architectural delights - the Eiffel Tower, the pyramid at the Louvre, Notre Dame, Sacre Couer. While I love Florence, I commend you for letting him choose. He'll embrace the trip more by taking ownership of it :) Now to your original question. If you're using backpacks, the metro will be very doable. Be aware of your surroundings, don't use those tourist necklace passport holders (easily cut from your neck) and walk quickly as if you know where you're going (even if you don't :)
  5. Would they listen to books on tape? We have Little Bear read by Sigourney Weaver - I love it :) I think we have Frog and Toad as well. Too bad you're leaving next week, I'd mail them to you. You might check your library to see what they have for preschoolers.
  6. Your story was frustrating to ME and I didn't even experience it first hand. That is so WRONG. Oh and to answer your question, yes I cry when I'm mad. Which you have a million reasons to be at your vet office! I would write a letter to ?? the office manager? somebody and (calmly) communicate your experience.
  7. This is up now "People named their sexiest man for 2008" "Dave Ramsey vs. Larry Burkett"
  8. We love Jensens here - very gentle, you could pick and choose as you go. http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?event=AFF&p=1012563&item_no=6061297 If you do decide to go with IEW for the Essay writing, I have it and can pop it in the mail to you. We've watched it and may watch it again before SAT (I think she's doing it in March - it's whichever month doesn't have SAT subjects:lol:
  9. Cheese, Gromit! :) Thanks for your message.

  10. I think that's right. The buyer probably has credit card paypal. It's my understanding that once you accept a cc payment, all your future transactions will be charged the fee. This happened to me once and I asked the buyer if they had non-cc paypal as well, and they did- so they reversed the payment and sent non-cc paypal. I've never paid any fees with hundreds of buy and sell transactions through paypal. :)
  11. A Boys' Lincoln is pretty good, a bit dry though....
  12. I don't know about the French program, we're doing the Latin. I would go with So you Really Want to Learn, it's probably a better fit age-wise for a 9th grader. It will move quickly but she can likely handle it :)
  13. :grouphug:Can you chat with the first sister, and sort of get a game plan with her and approach the 2nd sister? Or will she feel you have ganged up against her? Keep reminding yourself of your last statement here. Your mom IS capable and healthy. Could you suggest everybody go to a restaurant as extended family, or will that be viewed as impersonal? Maybe get a private dining room somewhere so you don't have to deal with the before and after?
  14. I just bought electric blankets for our beds last week. I had a hard time finding them, our JCPenney didn't have them, nor did Target. I finally found them at Bed Bath and Beyond but had to search. They were still pretty steep with their coupons.
  15. Oh Sharon!!:willy_nilly: My head hurts from reading all this. Agreeing with the others, kick your realtor's behind to get them to earn their keep on this. Can you add the cost of the HVAC to the guy's earnest money? I'm pretty sure a builder would add any changes to the amount held against closing. As for us we had a motivated buyer, he was moving from out of state. When I look back, I'm amazed at how smoothly our sale went. :grouphug:
  16. Did you mean to say this to me? The shoes I linked are leather.
  17. Dance Factory Outlet has them for $5. http://www.dancefactoryoutlet.com/capezio/children/footwear/ballet-lyrical-jazz/ballet-shoe/prod201C.html
  18. Yea!!! Joining Karen and wishing you and your ds best wishes. Honestly (this is just me) I would rather know - good OR bad - in Dec. vs. waiting till April!! That's just such a long time to wait to know. Hoping for good results for all your students, and know that all we parents of juniors are taking good notes :tongue_smilie:
  19. This is in the FAQ at their webpage here https://www.coca-colascholars.org/cokeWeb/faqs.jsp?navigation=14 I would infer from this that they'll contact you with more details on what to send. Keep us posted! I love hearing about scholarship stories :001_smile:
  20. Congratulations to your ds! Is it the one for first generation college students? http://www.collegeconfidential.com/dean/archives/000187.htm
  21. oh my I love this site. Fast shipping and super fabulous discounts. I've only ordered at Christmas, and we get enough to get the free shipping, but I would definitely consider otherwise with their great prices.
  22. We spent two weeks in Italy, divided pretty evenly between Venice, Florence, Rome and Naples. Don't skip Venice - it's unique with the canals, the Isle of the Dead, Merona (glass blowing - fascinating). We flew into Venice and out of Naples, and rented a car. (dh did the driving!). For architecture Florence and Rome would be your best bets. But Pompeii was fabulous and I definitely wouldn't skip that. I would skip Pisa except for his interest in architecture :) it's very touristy but we did it in < a day from Florence. Maybe have your ds study and devise a game plan that interests him? As much as I love London (lived there for 2+ years, would go back in a heartbeat) and Paris, in your shoes I would focus on Italy and save those cities for another time. :)
