  1. Thank you for the replies. I think I'll choose make ahead today and bake it at home tomorrow before we leave. My main concern was not so much the one hour drive but that we'll be there for several hours before it's time to eat. If we leave here at 10:30 I have to take it out of the oven in time to wrap it for travel. And we're not eating until around 2:00. Hopefully I can pack it so it stays warm.
  2. That's kind of a boring commercial even though it gets the point across. It could have been a fun ad. People remember the unique/fun ads so much more than dull ones.
  3. I would agree that it depends on your family size and whether or not you need the room. That does sound like a lot of boxes for you to store. When dss moved out we kept his room as-is. It was his home and he was always welcome. However there were no other kids, and when ds was born we did have another room for him after we put him out of our bedroom. When we sold that house was when dss had to finally get all of his stuff and either toss it, take it, or store it. We do have a spare bedroom here and he was always welcome, but it wasn't actually "his" room. My recommendation - move to another house. LOL. J/K Actually, I'd say be willing to store some things but not all. She should go through some of those boxes and make the hard decisions to keep or toss. Have a place for her to sleep if she ever needs to come back for some reason, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the room that was always hers.
  4. One of the things I'm bringing to our Thanksgiving gathering (which is tomorrow for us due to dss' work schedule) is my sweet potato casserole. They live an hour away and we're leaving around 10:30 but dinner isn't until 2. Only one oven is available but we might be able to juggle some items after the turkey comes out, while it rests.
  5. That's the reason I'm okay with Space Mountain - because I can't see. I can also ride The Mummy at Universal for the same reason. Roller coasters where I can see what's coming? No way. Like, you I enjoy IMAX movies and rides like Soarin'.
  6. If it's more available than human Lowe's employees I'm all for it. It's next to impossible to get help in our local Lowe's stores. When I did secret shopping I got to the point where I turned down Lowe's jobs. You were supposed to find an employee a few aisles away from the product you were asking about, and I would spend too much time looking for someone to ask.
  7. Oh, I missed that you were doing that. I thought you were only going to choose one park.
  8. Yep, definitely something to be reported. Glad your dh did that. Our city has automated pick-up. We have one large trash can and one large recycle bin. Trash is weekly and recycle is biweekly. Before they went to automated, trash collection was twice a week and recycle weekly.
  9. The onsite hotels will have shuttles or a boat that takes you to the parks. Many offsite hotels have free shuttles to the theme parks. If you stay at one of the resorts Iyou can get early admission and a few of them also have Express Passes as part of the benefits. If you don't plan on doing both parks you'll have to decide if you want to see Hogwarts and Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley and Platform 9-3/4. They're in two separate parks. I'd go for the former since it's the original. It's at Islands of Adventure.
  10. Our Walmart sells/exchanges the SodaStream CO2 bottles. If you buy it, it costs $30, and it's kept in the section where they stock the SodaStream appliances (is it an appliance or a gadget?) and flavors. If you exchange it's half the cost, and you do that at the service desk. Of course you do have to buy one to begin with, but after that you can just exchange them. We bought two so we always have one on hand if we forget to bring the empty in for exchange.
  11. I have a pair of (not wireless) over the ear Sony headphones. While the sound quality is nice, I find them to be uncomfortable. I wear glasses and over the ear headphones press on the temples (arms) and give me a headache.
  12. All three of us got new frames this past summer. Ds and I got ones that came with three different sunglass clips - regular, blue blocking, and 3D. They're called Sunlights and I would not recommend them. If you lose or damage one of the clips you can only replace them by buying all three again. Ugh. The frames cost around $300 and I'm sorry I paid that much for them. Dh got transition lenses and light weight wire frames. His frames cost around $200. I'd have to look up the paperwork to find a more exact cost, but I think I have it right. I didn't find that video I posted up thread until several months after we got ours. I will be more discerning next time we're due for new frames.
  13. I've seen them for as little as $70 up to over $500. It depends on the kind of frames you want and whether or not you want designer frames. The main difference is going to be price. BTW, I posted this on fb a while back. Choice is an illusion.
  14. We don't drink a lot of soda. We mainly use it when we get pizza delivery and want soda but don't want to pay pizza parlor prices. I can't say we love it but that's because we don't use it much.
  15. I have Soda Stream brand. We like it.
  16. Mine look similar to Barb's. They're white, which isn't shown here, and are 3 years old this month. Most likely there's a newer version available now. I have no complaints, and I use them all the time (almost daily) to listen to my audio books while I work around the house.
  17. There were some craft blogs I used to love until they monetized and did just that. It seemed like every other word was a link to a sponsor. Ugh.
  18. But you've been given so very many options and not a single one is right for you? Not one? Do you see how that looks to those trying to give you suggestions? It's not as though Murphy and everyone else said you must to it this way, my way. They've tried. You shot down Every. Single. Suggestion.
  19. I enjoyed it, but I'm a fan of historical mysteries anyway.
  20. Count me in with those who don't sympathize with the woman in the video. I do get that men often try to fix things when all you want is for the to listen, but I don't think this video captures that. It just make the woman look dumb and whiney. Um, lady, there's a #$%#& nail in your head! It IS about the nail!
  21. I missed a good part of last week's thread. Stacia, I'm sorry about your pup. :grouphug: This past week I finished The Plantagenets and The Queen's Man. I gave up on both Grantchester and Cover Her Face. Grantchester (actually called Sidney Chambers and the Shadow of Death) was okay but I think I just wasn't in the mood. Cover Her Face was taking too long to get anywhere. I'm back to reading Alexander Hamilton (it's the same bio Lin-Manuel Miranda read that inspired him to write the musical) and trying to decide on my next mystery/thriller/suspense novel. Not sure where I want to go with that.
  22. I've been looking at some of the cart type bags/bins and considering them. Are they heavy though once you load them with your purchases? I often ask the bagger to split up my items and use all of the bags I brought in rather than try to fit a bunch of items in only a few bags. They think they're doing me a favor by not filling all my bags so I have to teach them how to bag my stuff. If dh or ds is home it's not a problem, but if no one is home, I need the bags to be light. I'd rather carry in 6 light bags than 2 or 3 heavy ones. My back issues prohibit me from carrying heavy bags. I know you know what it's like Jean. Do you find it to be a problem?
  23. I had it done 10 years ago but had put it off for a good 15 years before that. Afterwards I couldn't believe I waited so long. I can breathe through my nose, which is something I was never ever able to do to any real extent before the surgery. It didn't change the shape of my nose though I wouldn't have been sad if it did. It was one of the best medical decisions I ever made for myself.
  24. Things we do - -Recycle what we can - our city's recycle program keeps improving but can be much better. -Take some things to the grocery store that the city doesn't recycle (plastic bags, styrofoam) -Recycle batteries - Target has a bin for this -Compost both kitchen waste and yard waste -We use paper coffee filters but they're unbleached and we toss them into the compost bin along with the grounds -Use cloth for paper towels (I cut up old bath towels when we got new ones) and cloth napkins -Only run the dishwasher every few days -Only do large loads of laundry -Take reusable bags when shopping, including bags for produce -Use stainless steel water bottles -I bring my own coffee cup to Starbucks -Use containers rather than ziploc bags for storing leftovers -Get almost all books from the library -We cut up scrap paper to use as note paper Things that aren't good- -I too use a Swiffer because of my back and knee pain. I did try using microfiber or other reusable cloths, but they have to be rinsed more often and that requires too much bending. Sometimes pain wins and this is one of those areas. -We drive a lot but there isn't much in our town. A few grocery stores, a Walmart and a Target. Basics like hairdressers and doctors, but not much else. Also, all of our family and friends live out of town. We're looking at moving to be closer to those we want to spend time with. -I've tried repeatedly to use a clothes line but the humidity in Florida makes it difficult. Often times you can leave clothes out all day and if it doesn't rain they still don't get dry because the air is too humid. I sometimes dry things on racks in the house but there's only so much room for that. -Air conditioner runs 24/7 most of the year.
