  1. Sorry, maybe your children aren't that advanced. (That's the high school book.) How about the Story of the World?
  2. We used SWB History of the Ancient World and the activity book. It comes with plenty of book lists, maps, coloring pages and projects.
  3. Are you able to find any of your read aloud books on cd at the library? You could just listen while you had lunch and a break.
  4. A neighbor was just asking advice about a square wedding cake. I can't wait to show her your picture. Beautiful!
  5. You will be reassured after you get the test results of a standardized test at the end of the year. He'll do very well. You could keep the basic standards of the 3 Rs but which history or science he learns which year won't matter.
  6. You can make a fortune if you can discover the definitive storage solution!
  7. We all have stories like this. You have to  (or you'll explode!)
  8. Everyone gets their own character references. It can be quite a circus. The best lawyer often wins. My prayers are with you all.
  9. I wouldn't worry about their days being filled up as they get older. It's a mystery as to where time goes. School will take longer, we always have an activity or three, visiting with others, getting a group together for a literature class, cooking, sewing, cleaning, building, drawing, writing books, making bows and arrows ...
  10. That was all we needed with miquon. We did have some blocks that stuck together in groups of ten and those buckets of shapes. You might look at the math manipulatives in a home-school catalog. My dc really enjoyed and learned a lot from miquon. We went from that to Scott Foresman Math.
  11. Enjoy! It is a nice confirmation of your family's education choice. There will be ups and downs and you might even threaten to send them to school but it is well worth it. :)
  12. My dd wore undershirt camis. We liked the ones at Hanna Anderson. We were then able to find beginner bras at the Gap that were appropriate for young ladies.
  13. We are a couple of hours from you. I don't find the regulations difficult. Feel free to e mail or pm me with questions. Wishing you well in all your decisions!
  14. "Mom, aren't you glad I noticed that I was carrying my dirty dishes and didn't go all the way upstairs?" Yes folks he was clearing the kitchen table on the ground floor. :001_huh:
  15. You should ask your friends or find a fun, responsible, older teen and have them over to "be company" for your son. It's not fun to stay alone. When my dd started babysitting she still didn't like to be home alone, at our house, at night.
  16. I was also going to mention progeny press. A book study will keep her moving along. For fun reading I would give her novels that are at or a little below her reading level so she can get into them quickly.
  17. We also do Spanish at the local university. I have friends that teach some at home to get her children familiar with a foreign language and then has them take the course at college. They find this easier.
  18. You should be able to get books from other libraries in your region. Check and see if they send them around. Listening to books you have already read brings a whole new dimension and fun to them. We find we notice all the great little details when we listen in the car.
  19. Our dd says there is nothing worse than snotty, home-schooled, Christian girls that think they are too good to make mistakes or be unkind. I rather like the name for a rock band, Snotty Christian Girls. It's difficult but I think it's time for your family to make a change. You don't have to say why and I would advise not getting into a discussion with them. I did not follow this advice and I wish I had. They will not understand or believe you. My prayers are with all of you.
  20. :iagree: You are pregnant. You must take care of yourself and your baby. No one else can take care of your baby right now. Having spent 5 months on bed-rest while pregnant I will happily remind you to take it easy. Let me know when you need your next pep talk :D
