  1. I have often wondered that myself. ;) We did do some outlining, but I don't remember any other writing instruction. I am logical and organized by nature, and think I just managed to figure it out on my own.
  2. I learned about thesis statements sometime during graduate school, only because I was homeschooling. :blushing: Maybe I learned it at some point earlier, but if so, I have no memory of it.
  3. I have a freezer full of whole peeled and cherry tomatoes that I want to use up. I'm making lasagna, and want to use some in place of the crushed/sauce/paste in this recipe. 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste 2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce How would you do that?
  4. Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota. I agree with the Custer Park recommendation. Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. Estes Park, Colorado Nantucket, MA
  5. I wouldn't have known that in college either. I knew nothing about history until I started homeschooling my kids. My horrible history education is one of the many reasons I started homeschooling my kids. I learned far more in the 4 years of SOTW than I ever did in school. :banghead:
  6. Have you taken him to a physical therapist? My dd injured her neck recently while dancing, and the PT worked miracles on her. She used ultrasound, massage, and exercises, and dd was back to normal in a couple days.
  7. Except I don't think bocce uses hoops. Can't think of anything else.
  8. Around here, the doctors prefer you try the nasal washes first before prescribing antibiotics. My dd, who is prone to sinus infections, has had great success with the rinses and hasn't had to take antibiotics since starting them. My dh, a family practice doctor, says he's had many chronic sinusitis (treated with antibiotics for years) patients who have been sinusitis and antibiotic free once they started the rinses.
  9. I'd rather have the bugs than the pesticides. Well, I'd rather not have bugs OR pesticides.
  10. Respectful Insolence wrote an article about it here. You already know what I think. :D
  11. For a healthy 11 year old with a good bike, 60 miles in 2 days of flat roads is certainly doable. But 60 miles of hilly roads would be really hard. My main concern would be the safety of the roads. I'd be fine with a trail, but not a highway.
  12. Does this help? Look at 37 degrees; the value is .6018. It's always going to be .6018. The value of sin A can be looked up in a table or found with a calculator. Same with all the other trig functions.
  13. It's probably a nickel allergy. I've had to get rid of many pairs of jeans because of this. Certain brands are fine, but unfortunately there's no way to know until you've worn them for awhile. :glare:
  14. The main difference I see is that A starts closer to the nose, and B farther away. I like A, and agree with others that she should have her thyroid tested.
  15. I would not be surprised if she really does have influenza. Depending on the type of rapid test they used and the prevalence of flu in your community, up to 30% of those tests are false negatives. As long as she's getting better (and it sounds like she is) I wouldn't worry.
  16. Didn't you have a placental abruption? That's not uncomplicated.
  17. Does she get short of breath with exertion? How's her exercise tolerance? I'd want a thorough medical exam first.
