  1. but, it's biblical. how is upsetting to some of you??? read hebrews 3: 7-9
  2. from my perspective, the israelites did lack faith at times throughout the 40 years, and they whined sometimes. when i read about their time in the wilderness, i don't think it's crazy though, but rather, i've always found it comforting. they were human, just like us, and often reacted in the same manner i probably would have. i've got to go to church, but i'm glad to share passage that i think the pastor could have been referencing, and there are several. or you could just email him. i think it's unfair to say how misinformed he was. ETA - also in hebrews 3:7-9 in talks about the israelites lack of faith in the wilderness....so you can look at that too.
  3. daughter is riding razor scooter through the house. my son is messing with my crochet hook.
  4. same here. my 9 year old is in WWE 2 and does it 4x week. one lesson a day.
  5. i hate my jeans right now! i have gained 10 pounds and although i can get in my jeans, ...well...it doesn't mean i should! i am a size bigger than my entire closet, so everything just makes me angry. i'm usually a 4 or 6 & they are all uncomfortable and tight right now. it reminds me of an absolutely fabulous episode. patsy said to eddy, "are those new leggings?" and she replied, "NO!...they're trousers". lol.
  6. matthew henry commentary cup of coffee my daughter (with make-up, stickers, and glitter on her from playing dress-up) basket of math-u-see math manipulatives country living magazine

  8. $10,000. it stinks! our insurance is really for catastrophic events only though....not day to day health care.
  9. i hate when someone is acting like a snotty know it all in a thread, but consistently spells words wrong (definAtely, eCT, grammEr). it doesn't bother me terribly, only if they're being stinky. ETA...i'm totally guilty of typing like i talk....lots of run-on sentences, no structure, no caps, etc.
  10. welsh cookies!!!! we make them every year! they aren't very popular at cookie swaps though, lol. it's more like a tea cake. if you really want the recipe, i'll have my mom send it to me. they're wonderful!
  11. this letter is from a christian mother to her pastor. it was written after he preached on spanking. i've read it many times & have been encouraged by it. OP, it may be of equal encouragement to you. i hope so. hang in there! hugs.:grouphug: http://whynottrainachild.com/2010/03/11/letter-to-a-pastor-about-spanking/
  12. definitely a ring worm. use monistat 7 (yep, you read it correctly). it will get rid of it ASAP!
  13. i get up at the cracka lacka dawn & run. i'm training for 2 half marathons on thanksgiving day & one in march too. some days i hate it! but i'm always glad afterward.
  14. i started with running (still do). i left the house one day and tried to run around our little block & about died!!!! i committed to it though & kept at it a little each day...then a little more..., and now i love it! i have since invested in good running shoes, running socks, and an ipod!:D
  15. with my son, he is currently learning to read with CLE, which includes some handwriting & spelling too. additionally, he uses first language lessons, which is totally gentle and perfect for him. i also do narration & dictation with him (usually dictation comes from his CLE books & narration comes from our family devotion time). we do own WWE & AAS as well, but they aren't consistently used right now. ETA - oh...i just realized he's not in grade 1 yet. i'm sorry. in that case, i would probably just wait on buying something, unless you just really feel like he needs it now.
  16. he really loves god. he truly adores me, supports me, and encourages me. he's the very best daddy. he's the funniest person i know. he is the most even-tempered person i've ever met. he walks his talk. i could literally go on & on. i think he's the absolute greatest!!:D eta...gotta add this... he's a hottie. i love that after 11 years, our chemistry is still strong!
  17. we do elf on the shelf, but in a very silly way. our elf is incredibly naughty! it will roll toilet paper all over the house, it ate all of the chips and left a huge mess in the den, one night it drank all of the juice boxes and threw them around the kitchen, it wrote a note in ketchup on the counter, etc. my kids think it's lots of fun. the next day the elf is always hidden somewhere & has 2 candy canes for my children.
  18. oh! i love them! i just purchased their album off amazon. so thanks for the reminder! steven curtis chapman is awesome. my daughter just saw him on the 4th of july...it was her first concert & a date night with daddy:D
  19. yes! i joke all of the time & say i need a t-shirt saying, "everything i know i learned from youtube", lol. it is the best!!
  20. another conservative christian here that lets their kids believe in santa. they're 9 & 6 and still believe. i suspect my daughter knows, but she's still playing along strong. santa brings 1 gift only and it has nothing to do with being naughty or nice. there are many things about christmas that i love though & have more to do with tradition than with Christ (although Christ is still central in all that we do & is at the heart of why we celebrate). we like the music, the food, the weather, the shopping, the decorations, etc. easter is the holiday that our family really considers holy and of utmost importance. we celebrate lent & it is my absolute favorite time of the year.
