  1. . Sorry this is a year old. Was looking for one from this year to support Rosie.
  2. Yes. It's under $4 in Fred Meyer (Kroger) so $9.24 is too much and it's an Add-On item! I ended up getting out today and bought a box at the store. After I used it, I opened a cabinet in my laundry room to store it in and found a plastic container full of .... washing soda that I've had for a few years and forgotten about.
  3. I haven't even noticed the Prime Pantry stuff. That's annoying.
  4. Why?!?! Why doesn't Amazon sell washing soda for a reasonable price??? I checked yesterday and must have have spent 15 minutes in denial searching over and over.
  5. I'm reading Plastic Free today and I like it s lot! Thanks for the recommendation.
  6. I keep checking back just to see what that darn song turns out to be!!!
  7. Ok, she does a lot of those things y'all have listed. I feel reassured!
  8. My 5th grader finishes all her work by around 2:00 each day (she starts at 9:15). With the long, dark days/nights there is nothing to do outside, and she doesn't have any afternoon activities outside the house (which is fine by me since driving to lessons is a disaster that time of day). What do your 10-12 yr olds do to keep busy during non-academic learning time? She's tried loom knitting... didn't finish a project. She likes French and will spend some time on Duolingo, but not long. She's not into knitting or crochet. Reading is not interesting to her. She is known to reread books more than once rather than try new ones. So...any ideas for longer term projects?
  9. Without reading further than the OP, my guess is Seattle for sure.
  10. Things are really stirring up. It's always nice to pose thought provoking questions like 'what if one day it is the ____ who no one will help find refuge'.
  11. Tomorrow I will go look up my recommendation for you. Bedtime for me now.
  12. You can do it!!! Less calories. More veggies, etc...
  13. Oh that is s cute idea, Cook a Book. I could do that for 6-9 yr old and perhaps a more skills based class for 10+
  14. I'm thinking 8 and up. At first my mind went to breads, baked desserts. Now I think that if I'm going to teach any humans anything that is rather it be something nutritious they can use for years. Basics.
  15. I'd like some tips and suggestions, especially if you've made your own co-op class or a short day camp. Several of my friends have encouraged me to teach their kids how to bake (cakes, breads) or teach them intro to knitting (which is funny considering how limited my knowledge is of it!). I was thinking of putting together a 3 day camp which would meet 1.5 or 2 hours each day. I'd offer them during school breaks or summer. I feel 100% comfortable with baking or cooking. Knitting... not as much since I don't know it as expertly as I would like. Any tips. I've ditched the idea before because I wasn't sure what to cater to... the 'fun' of mixing, pouring, stirring, or the technical stuff like the importance of measuring, following the recipe, etc.. ONe mom wants her kid to stir and mix and 'have fun'. That turned me off. I should just do a little of both and be clear upfront about the type of class. Thanks for any tips!
  16. Nothing from Amazon?
  17. Could you recommend a good playsilk? I read tec's from previous threads that a 3 yr old boy might like this as s gift?
  18. Thanks for the suggestion.. she does already use that app!
  19. Do all the public school kids have the same start and end times? If yes, then I think you will get used to the schedule in time. If no, then I think the chaos of picking up kids and staggered times is insanity. That's one reason I start ed homeschooling a few years ago. I had a preschooler with one start/end time, and two grade school kids with another start/end time, and I never had time to feed and nap the baby. My solution was to bring everyone home! If your PS kids all go and come back at the same time, then prioritize your 9&11yr olds seat work and see what else they can get done. If you have from 9:00-3:00, that's pretty good. Also... you have a lot of young children right now which is a big demand on you physically, mentally, and emotionally, so don't be too hard on yourself. I don't think any one particular way will be "easy" for you at this point just because getting that many little people ready for the day, executing that day, and meeting your personal and household needs is a tall order. Take care of yourself!!
  20. My 5th grade daughter is really keen on learning French and already watches a dvd from the library that is for learning (Bonjour Les Amis). She even googled common French terms last night and made flash cards :D Any recommendations for her? We're not looking for a tough curriculum, but she does want to learn. I previewed some pages of Getting Started With French, and I'm concerned that it might be too bland and void of culture and energy. However, if you've used it and love it, please tell me why!
  21. I think leaders around the world know and control and 'let' things happen. I also was left scratching my head after reading a similar article. They know exactly where to strike them in Syria. We are clueless as a public.
  22. How and why? Are Always pads toxic? How can the pad make a difference? (Sincerely asking!!!)
