  1. What a shock. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  2. Thank you. My daughter has been doing math on grade level. Is 6th grade too early for pre algebra? Is that normally what 7th grade is?
  3. I'm considering using AoPS PreAlgebra for my 6th grader and have a couple of questions: 1) Is this a stand alone curriculum/program or will I want to have her on Math Mammoth 6 too? 2) Do I sign up online for the $300+ course that meets once a week or is there some other way to use AoPS? 3) Am I right in using this for 6th grade considering she completed Saxon 6/5 last year? I"m all ears for any advice!
  4. For me, the pro's are that the hair comes back softer and thinner, and it takes a while for it to grow out. Shaving creates manly stubble-type hair on my legs which is so uncomfortable as it grows out, and it feels terrible on my clothes. (and it looks awful) The painful part is in the initial transition from the shaved hair to the epilated hair. It hurts to pull the shaved hair out because those hairs are coarse and thick. Also, for me personally, since I don't wear clothes that show my legs, I prefer the soft hair that grows back. If I were showing legs in public I'd probably not like the job that the epilator does. I wouldn't want to wait that long to remove the hair.
  5. This really cracked me up for some reason!!! I love it. Thank you for the chuckle.
  6. So the meat did fully cook... likely due to it actually sealing the second time around. The sauce tasted not unlike it always does from the stovetop so that's good. However... the meat was in big chunks which I had to go around and smash into the 'ground beef'. I don't get how you can put frozen beef in there and get crumbled cooked ground beef after cooking. I had to break mine up myself. Next time I will break it up fully before cooking it. So that was my first attempt with the Instant Pot. I will try lima beans tomorrow, but we rarely eat beans so I'm not sure if that would be a score or not. I'm having a little buyer's remorse.... I guess using it will be a habit I'll have to get in to use it versus my traditional stovetop methods. I'm curious about the boiled eggs, but honestly, it's not hard to boil eggs on the stove top! I'm trying to figure out where the big deal is here. Could I even return this thing to amazon??
  7. I'm trying to make my spaghetti sauce right now. So far I've been messing with it for an hour! Something that takes me like 15 minutes stovetop is already taking too long, but I there's the learning curve so I'll let it slide today. I sauteed onion, added a block of ground beef (not frozen), added the large jar of Prego sauce from Costco. Turned it to manual 10 minutes. It started the countdown but i noticed the valve never popped up. After I opened it up the meat was still raw inside, so I figured it never reached pressurization. So I made sure the valve was all the way turned to "sealing" and tried again. The second time the valve did pop up and now I'm about to open the lid and see what I have.
  8. I searched PBS trying to find the show.... do you know how I can watch any of those episodes? OP... you are not crazy. I have four kids aged 7-15 right now I still feel like those tasks take up a lot of my day. I wonder what my life would be like if I worked outside the home because of how much those things you mentioned take up of my day. I'm sure I'd be more stressed and we'd be eating less elaborate foods. I guess I'm in a similar boat as you... sometimes I feel that just the basics take up most of my energy and time. Also, I think I hesitate to find a hobby or do something that does take a long time because I know it would interfere with many of those daily tasks that I"m on top of.
  9. I think I missed getting $10 for buying $50 gift card. I never saw it anywhere on any page there today, and I've been on there at different times throughout the day.
  10. Pure Spa Essential Oil Diffuser starts later today for $30 instead of $40. I have enough diffusers but it's a good price. I just bought the Instant Pot 😀

  12. Would any of these suggestions still be valid for late November?
  13. That's sickening. My dad asked me to send my kids via plane for summer vacations and I never did... mostly out of fear of this happening. Nobody can have their eyes on your kids like you do. I never felt it was worth the risk.
  14. I'm thinking of putting together a Life Skills class to teach once a month in my community. It's a topic I like, I have skills in, and feel like it's not taught enough to youth. I've been browsing titles in the Rainbow Resource catalog and reading the descriptions of various texts thinking that I could base my class off of a good curriculum. I might offer a class to 8-10yr olds, but I'm really thinking of our teens. Does anyone have experience in this topic or have you done such a thing in general even with another topic (using a curriculum to make a co-op class). Ideally I'd create 6-8 classes to give over the course of a school year, bring all materials needed, and have a 60-90 minute class focused on a narrow age range to keep it interesting and skill-relevant.
  15. Praying for a full recovery. I'm sure you're feeling so many things right now.
