  1. The lens is heavier than my others but I can comfortably wear it around my neck for a day out. My daughters (11 and 14) have no trouble using it and have both been using it for a couple of years. One thing I notice about mine is that it tends to "creep" out now if I am holding it or wearing it around my neck. I don't remember it doing that when I first got it. I guess this is due to the weight but not sure. Like I said, it gets used a lot around here. Definitely my go to lens when we are going to be at one of the kids events. It takes decent photos inside also. HOpe this helps, Cindy
  2. http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-18-270mm-3-5-6-3-Aspherical-Cameras/dp/B004FN1W2I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1352691042&sr=8-3&keywords=tamron+lens+for+nikon I have used this with both my D40 and my D3100. Great for everyday shots. I have used it alot. Love it. Use it way more than my Nikon 55-200. The Nikon is a nice lens also though. I have tried to attach 2 photos from our local fair last month so you can see the zoom capabilities. I was standing in nearly the same spot when I took these. I am not very good at attachments yet so I don't know how this will turn out. Hope this helps, Cindy PS I cannot figure out how to turn the one photo.
  3. I think you would receive it in the same time frame as if you were paying for shipping. Enjoy your shopping :), Cindy
  4. We are heading to Disney World in December and I was wondering if this was available even if you aren't staying onsite. My dd would love some of the photos with Tinkerbell, and I would like to be in a few photos myself instead of behind the camera all of the time. Cindy
  5. She is a talented girl. Happy Birthday to her and :grouphug: for Mom. Cindy
  6. Great job with the party and I love how you created a fun theme. Your ds is truly darling. Cindy
  7. I have to show this to my girls tomorrow. They will be very impressed. Cindy
  8. :grouphug:I have two girls also and the "baby" is 11 going on 12. I dread her next birthday. 12 just seems so grown up, and it seems as if she is growing us faster than big sister did. I guess mine is always trying to catch up and do what sister is doing. Is your younger dd like that? My youngest was our mischevious one also. I tell her I am lucky I made it past her 3rd birthday. :) She was always trying something dangerous that no baby book ever warned about. Enjoy your 12 year old, Cindy
  9. Derek, Thanks again. I will try to attach one of each girls' photos. Actually, these are the ones we were trying to retrieve. Got the disc and uploaded them to the computer already. They are now 14 and 11 (they were 13 and 10 last year when these were taken). Thanks so much for the help, Cindy
  10. Thanks so much. I can't believe I didn't think about a disc. I have contacted Sam's and have a cd on order. This is a lifesaver. Your photos were stunning. I will definitely check out Smug Mug. Cindy
  11. Last year my dds both entered several photos in our local fair and they both came away with a judge's choice award in their age group. Now they want to enter a couple of online competitions with these same photos, and I have since switched to a new desktop and somehow this one group of photos ( the ones we printed for the fair ) are all missing. I have ran searches in My Pictures, gone through flash drives hoping they were on there for some reason, and am now searching through all the photo discs to no avail. I checked Sam's photo section on their website ( I used them to print the original 8 X 10s ) and there are the photos in my account but I can't figure out how to retrieve a copy of the files they need. Any ideas???? Thanks, Cindy PS Both contests they will be entering require the kids to submit a digital file rather than a print.
  12. I will show these to my 2 photographers (also age 14 and her sister age 11). I love the book photo and can definitely see why that won best of show. Lovely. Cindy
  13. Thanks a bunch. I will definitely save this for biology next year also. Cindy
  14. My girls will be starting Geometry with her this fall and we are all excited about the classes. We definitely plan to try the boot camp next summer before Algebra 2. Algebra 1 may kill me before the summer is over. Cindy
  15. What an inspiring story of hard work and determination! Cindy
  16. Great ideas! We had no idea you could rent a car right at Disney. That will be great for Universal. Kokotg, I have saved your travel log and will read through it again when making reservations. This was so helpful. ( The pics of your kids were so cute. ) Abbey, So glad to hear that Disney has been accomodating. I didn't want my eating needs cutting into the girls' fun. We are definitely leaning toward staying on site now. Dawn, That is a great price for the Universal tickets at Costco, but we really doubt we will make it back, at least not in 3 years. So I guess we will just have to bite the bullet and pay for the one day passes. We plan to spend the entire day at the Wizarding World. Thanks again, Cindy
  17. Oh, and really----get rid of Andrea Kremer! Those questions she asks are beyond belief!! :iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree: I can't tell you how many times my dh and I have said this while watching. Also why can't NBC put all of the human interest stuff/backstories on their website for those who are interested and let the rest of us watch the few sports they show. Cindy
  18. We are planning our first (and probably only) trip to Disney World this fall or winter. I have been reading through the Disney threads on the board and trying to learn as much as possible. Our girls will be 11 and 15 at the time of the trip. We will be going during the time free dining is offered so we might stay on site rather than in a condo as we first planned. I am recently gluten free and I just wondered how hard it will be to eat gluten free on the Disney dining plan. Anyone btdt? Would this issue make it preferable to stay out of the park so I would have access to a kitchen and grocery stores? Also we really want to spend at least one day of our week at Universal ( for the Harry Potter experience:-). If we stay on site at Disney ( looking at Port Orleans FQ or a cabin near the camp grounds) would we need to rent a car for the week just to go to Universal? This may be obvious but I am not finding any info on how to get from one park to the other. :bigear: We will rent a car if we stay in a condo close by. As I said above, this will probably be a one time trip for our family. We have been saving and this will be their Christmas this year as well. I really want to stay on site if it will be more "magical", but seeing the Harry Potter park at Universal is something our whole family would love to do while we are there. I am getting quotes from the Magic for Less website. Has anyone used them for booking a Disney trip? Recommendations? Thanks for reading and for any advice. Cindy
  19. I know that has to be so scary for her and for you too. Cindy
  20. I downloaded the sample for my daughters to check out later this evening. It sounds like their type of story. Cindy
