  1. Sounds like your little one enjoyed it. Cindy
  2. I had seen this book at the bookstore and had been intrigued by the synopsis on the jacket flap. I didn't buy the book at that time though and of course I couldn't remember the name to look at it on Amazon or our library site. As soon as I saw the recommendation I knew this was the title I couldn't recall. I immediately put a reserve on it from the library. Anyway my 9 yr old dd has not felt well the past couple of days, and she has so enjoyed hearing me read this. We have laughed at Aunt Ivy together and cheered for the mice. Thanks for the recommendation, Cindy
  3. When we were little my dad used humane traps to catch a couple of rabbits that the neighbors behind us just turned loose when they moved. One of the rabbits was already expecting and soon she had a dozen rabbits, but she loved them all. I think she is doing a great thing. I am so proud of her. Cindy
  4. http://pep.si/bCgCag My sister has always been an animal lover, and now she is trying to open a rabbit sanctuary in WV. She is trying for a grant from Pepsi Refresh and would love to have votes from other rabbit lovers. If you can help please vote daily in July. She would really appreciate it. The link is above. Thanks, Cindy PS I personally hate to sign up for things and end up getting junk e-mails and such, but when I signed up to vote I selected the boxes that let me opt out of receiving any info from Pepsi and have not been contacted via email at all.
  5. The nerve of them expecting you to share your business model the ins and outs. To me that just means they are wanting to benefit from all of your hard work. NO Way would I share that info. But as you said they couldn't find time to work on the other project with you. Do you think that they will lose their excitement and forget about the idea in a little while? I know people like that. They get caught up in a great idea but when it comes to actually working it out they eventually don't have time or the stamina to see it through. Maybe they will realize that they need to come up with another idea. :grouphug: Cindy
  6. I am sure your dd is thrilled. Got on to see if there was any news about Oscar. Cindy
  7. The Railway Children THe Story of the Treasure Seekers sequel to the Treasure Seekers book We read the 2 treasure seekers books out loud this summer and I don't remember any fantasy or magic in them - there is fantasy/magic in many of her books. Fun stories of brothers and sisters and the scrapes they get into. I was laughing so hard I couldn't read a time or two. I did notice the "n" word in at least one of the books. Frankly I wasn't expecting it but it was a good chance to remind my girls that that word is one that must never be used by them. It has been longer since we did the Railway Children book but I don't remember any fantasy elements in that one either. Hope this helps, Cindy PS I can't remember if you mentioned Pollyanna or not but that might be a good one.
  8. I would love to find out more about this curriculum. I am thinking about it for next semester. Thanks, Cindy
  9. Young Rider magazine. There are usually articles on both English and Western riding. My dd rides English at her lessons but she enjoys reading articles about both. Hope this helps, Cindy
  10. Oh, ours definitely warms our living room. Actually keeps it quite toasty, and if I open the door to the bedroom off the living room it does a pretty good job warming that room also. Cindy
  11. My parents had purchased one the year before and after seeing their's last Thanksgiving we decided to purchase one for our living room. We really enjoy it and it is so nice not to worry about the kids getting hurt on it. The top is cool enough for the cats to lay on if they want to. The glass in the front is cool enough to place my hand on if I wanted to. We didn't see much of an increase in our power bill at all. I also worried about it looking "tacky", but ours looks nice and the fireplace effect is not too fake looking. :) It sure makes our living room cozier. Hope this helps. Cindy
  12. My 8 yr old dd is going to be a cowgirl. My 11 yr old dd is going to be Hermione(sp) from Harry Potter for the third year in a row. Cindy
  13. Has the family seen these yet? I think they will be thrilled. I know I would be. Great job! Cindy
  14. The Care and Keeping of You was a wonderful way to discuss this information with my dd. We used it late in her 9th year or just as she turned 10 and it was just the right amount of info. No s*x talk, just what to expect as your body changed. Cindy mom/teacher to 2 dds age 8 and 11 teacher to my sweet bonus student also 11
  15. What a darling room for him. Keaton is a great name too. Thanks for sharing. :001_smile: Cindy (mom/teacher to 2 girls ages 8 and 11 and teacher to my bonus student another 11 yr old girl)
  16. This looks like it might be what I am looking for to use with my new bonus student. How hard is Prof B to use with out the cd's at level 2. This program really looks promising but I would like to see samples from the books. Thanks a bunch, Cindy H.
  17. So it may be easier than I thought. That certainly sounds doable. :001_smile: Cindy
  18. I am going to be homeschooling my neighbor's dd beginning this year. She is going into the 6th grade along with my oldest dd. She is a terrific girl and my girls' best friend. We are all excited about it. I have been reading and re-reading the DNPE website and plan to contact them directly tomorrow, but I wanted to know if anyone has first hand info on doing this. According to the site 2 family homeschools are permitted in the state, but I cannot figure out how it works. Do I contact the DNPE and add her to my homeschool since I will be doing the teaching? Do her parents open their own school and somehow link it to mine? Since she has been enrolled in public school does she need to be withdrawn officially from school? We only have a couple of weeks before the official start date of the public schools here in our county and I really want to get this done quickly. If anyone has done this I would love to know how smoothly the process went, and if there is any thing in particular I may need to know to speak with the DNPE tomorrow. Anything that may be of concern to her parents that I may not think to ask the DNPE? Thanks so much for reading this, Cindy Mom and teacher to 2 dds ages 11 and 8
  19. I particularly like the damselfly. The detail on the face is terrific. What type of lens do you use, Doodle? The bumblebee and the dragonfly on the bike handle are favs as well. The coloring in these two is so nice. I will attempt to attach a couple of recent pics also. Cindy
  20. I had no idea that there was an organization out there working on this important issue. I have bookmarked the site to read thoroughly later. Cindy
