  1. Mindtrap-very interesting game that makes you think outside the box.
  2. We have tons of stickers, markers, crayons, erasers. I would like to come up with something that isn't play with it for a few days and throw it out. Any great ideas. DD is almost 5.
  3. DD4 who is getting close to 5 has really enjoyed the book Seabiscuit. We have been reading aloud a chapter or 2 a day with just a little editing at times. Laura Hillenbrand has done a great job telling the story. I can find a few more books on other race horses, but I am trying to come up with some other well written true stories that would keep her attention. I have thought about stuff on the Iditarod or the kids that have sailed around the world, what other suggestions can you all come up with. If you know of authors that have done a really good job that would help too.
  4. This is not a problem between you and your IL's. It is a problem between you and your dh. He needs to be the one to resolve this. I am not being hard on you I am just coming from a relationship where dh won't say no to his parents.
  5. Southern sweet tea is adding just a little tea to the gallon of sugar. I didn't see that as an option. I personally do 1/2 cup to 1 cup per gallon.
  6. Someone correct me if I am wrong but years ago an environmental engineering degree was a master's degree and usually an extension of the civil engineering departments, so you would get your Bachelor's in Civil and then get your Master's in environmental. I think ocean engineering was the same way. I would look into what jobs require for education before going to a school that offered either of those as a Bachelor's program.
  7. After they finished we had a short lesson on areas, volumes, and surface areas. Calculating volumes of boxes counts.
  8. Dh is sick and so decided to brush up on calculus. He likes to solve problems sometimes just to keep fresh. My 4 1/2 year old is sitting in his lap and they are watching a calculus lesson on how to derive the volume of a sphere. She has been sitting there for probably 20 minutes now. I am sure it is a lll over her head, but she is paying attention.
  9. I rarely split a sprite, orange soda or root beer with my 4 1/2 year old. I don't think she has had ginger ale but I might be wrong on that.
  10. Interesting question, I have grown up Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and just did a search on Martin Luther and evolution. I know where I stand, really wasn't 100% sure where Luther stood. So just out of curiosity I looked. He was a YE creationist. He was alive from 1483-1546.
  11. My dh always wanted to go to Alaska, yeah I know not the same, but I did not want to go. I thought I would hate the cold and the dark and it was so far from home. We had very financially lucrative offers to work there several years ago. I spent 1 1/2 years there and loved it. You just never know what you are missing if you don't take the chance and go.
  12. I saw the start and restart twice. We absolutely loved it That is where we first got turned on to Hobo Jim's music up there.
  13. I know what it is and no I wasn't one. I had a friend that was though.
  14. Vionic's website has a place that you can look up stores that carry them. Dillards, Belks and Nordstroms are on the list among others.
  15. I have had PF a couple of times. Stretch wear Vionic with orthaheel shoes, us a hard ball like a baseball to roll your calf muscle over it on the floor. The shoes can be found on sale online for a reasonable price. I probably wouldn't do cortisone shots. It takes a little time doing all the things I said, but it did work for me.
  16. Lisa, we have not been in the same position, but several years ago we changed from doing direct work to contracting wherever the money is good. For a year and a half we both worked that way (going to the same place) and since dd has been born it has just been dh. We travel with him to where the work is. It has made a world of difference for us. Our financial situation has improved greatly, dh is able to take significant time off between jobs, we have been to some beautiful areas of the US and we have made lots of friends in the different areas. It has its downsides too. We are in our home for only a couple of months a year, we end living pretty far away from family, we have spent a lot of time living in hotels. I don't know how much longer we will live this way, there is no work for dh where our home is and for now we will just keep doing it. I guess what I am saying is that there are pros and cons to everything, and sometimes taking a risk can really work out. It took me a long time to be willing to take the kind of risks we did and I don't regret it a bit. I hope that you and your dh will come to a reasonable decision and be able to be happy with it.
  17. If your dh is home in the evenings can you have him over for dinner on a nightly basis for awhile? That would give him a good meal a day and someone to talk too.
  18. We have moved around a lot and we travel with dh for work. Every place has good and bad. It takes time to find friends. For those of you whose husbands are working can he arrange dinner or something with a coworker and their family? We also tend to meet people at church. My dd is still young and often times I meet people at the play ground still. I am not sure where to meet moms with older kids that aren't always so busy because I haven't been there and done that yet.
  19. I did a search probably close to a year ago on vaccine schedules in different countries. There are many many many countries that give far few vaccines than the country and that does include many first world countries.

I hated quicken for mac years ago and just talked to someone recently who was unhappy with it. Check out Moneydance and see if that can import your quicken data. All the other stuff should be good.
