  1. Make a baking soda paste, apply it, top with a band aid and check it in the morning. Worked when I tried it with Dd.
  2. Yes, the table makes it easier with kids! That is what I did. We have 1100 or 1400 in our precinct. It was not crowded when I went, but I don't think I would have cared if it had been crowded.
  3. That is the one. DH says he did read it to him in preschool. Most of MP read alouds are longer type picture books, this one does seem out of place now that you mention it.
  4. Why (if you don't mind saying)what am I missing? I feel kinda dense! Is it just because I am looking at it with fuddy duddy adult eyes?
  5. This book is scheduled in our MP2 curriculum to be read this week. I am quite underwhelmed(or just plain don't like it) by this book and have plenty of other things to read. DS might like it, DD probably not (we read aloud together). I like, but don't HAVE to check boxes. Should we read it or skip it? Poll to follow. For the record I didn't like The Story of Ping either. Kids did. (We all loved Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, so I am not anti Chinese. ) Well in case I can't figure out the poll Read it, if you don't you are depriving a 7 year old boy of a great story. Read it, he might like it. It's the perfect bedtime story for Daddy to read, and you can check off that box. Skip it, the book is dreadful.
  6. We have gotten good seats before.....but not that good! :)
  7. First, thanks so much for organizing this! My junk drawer is in the mud room, but I had a drawer full of bibs and burp cloths (um, my kids are 7 and 5) so I emptied that, moved the drink bottles there, reorganized a cabinet and found a place for mybreadmaker. Then I started on my utensil drawers because we will be out most the day tomorrow. I have one left. This thread does make t easier!
  8. My 2nd grader is using MP 2 full package + singapore, but I have changed it up some. He did WWE1, FLL 1 and part of 2 in first grade ( we did not do MP 1). He really likes WWE so we continued with that, but pretty early on I decided (he complained, alot)it was too much writing on top of MP, so we do the Lit guides orally. We are continuing with FLL 2, mostly because I want to finish it and it does not take much time, we do 2 lessons a week. Grammar is adequately covered in Prima Latina and I would be comfortable to drop FLL2. We sometimes skip the copy work in FLL. And I don't teach grammar with the copybook Bible verse, I use it as review, with questions about facts he knows already ( why is this capitalized, what is this punctuation, stuff like that)
  9. http://www.memoriapress.com/articles/Top10-Reasons-for-Latin2.html Part two of the article I posted earlier. I did not realize it was incomplete until I went back to read it again myself I . I read most of this article to my husband on a long car trip. He was thrilled :)
  10. Reading this article may give you ideas of what to say http://www.memoriapress.com/articles/Top10-Reasons-for-Latin.html There is also a shorter article that sums up the top 3.
  11. It was 1A and 1B only and it may have been one sided, I can't remember that for sure. I was expecting it to be about $30. I felt sick when DH told me how much it was, luckily though it was the result of a combination of errors and we got it refunded with a store gift card, which took a long time to use!
  12. Hmm, maybe, I did not watch it my 7 year old told me it was that one so who knows if he is right. DH does not recall. But it definitely was a repeat of some kind last week.
  13. Last week it was a repeat. It was the one where they go back in time and have to avid themselves.
  14. We did this accidentally. I sent my husband in to have it printed, he did not tell them we wanted it in black and white, so they did it in color. He came out and told me the total, about $225 IIRC, and I had a cow. He went back in to complain and we got lucky because the person working was new and had not asked him if he wanted color or black and white, so we were given store credit. This was from office depot. These were printed and bound, last year.
  15. We tried them out with a convention deal, 3 DVDs for $5. The animation is not good at all, it did not bother my kids ( 7 and 5) but DH and I found it very distracting. The stories are good, the idea is good, the information is good, the deal was good, but we decided to cancel, because we could not see paying the full price ($15.95 I think) for the quality and we got the topics that worked best for a younger age group. They say you can skip a delivery if you call before a certain date. I did this and they sent me the DVD anyway (and charged me). I did not return it or call them about it since we decided to cancel. So I can't really remark about customer service, really.
  16. I don't do this. I would run out of fun ideas! Although I guess you can repeat them. It sounds like fun. I say it is a good idea if it works for your family and you don't mind doing it.

  18. Sorry it was so rough, hope it is smooth sailing from here on out. I think it would be hard to be awake for the procedure, but lots do it that way. At least it is over!
  19. I got all 4of mine out this past March at age 41. I think being older lends itself to longer recovery but wiser choices when it comes to following all instructions. I had put it off for years and years. The pain during recovery was not as bad as the pain I had leading up to removal. I felt "normal" by the third day afterwards. Followed instructions to the letter. Iced often the first day, maybe hourly. Prayed a lot beforehand and afterward. Ate soft food for at least a week. So glad I had it done. I went to an oral surgeon and was put under. Get it done and try not to worry about it!
