  1. I use HST+, and it looked like it would be too different for me. I dont need another learning curve to deal with. I may switch to it at some point, but not now.
  2. Wow, DID NOT know about the flash apps! Now we can do RAZ kids on the Ipad!!! Yipee - thank you to who suggested it!
  3. That is funny, I think we were replying at the same time!
  4. I have no idea what Armenians believe, but I am Methodist and since you mentioned Wesley, I thought I would reply. Totally ignore me if I am misunderstanding what you are looking for. I use Bible Study for All Ages for Bible for our kids. They really try to focus on teaching the stories as opposed to getting into a certain theology, IMO. I haven't found anything that is contrary to our beliefs. I use a NRSV Wesley study Bible for my studies, but use NIV or CEV with the kids. The kids love the contemporary English version because they can really understand it without much explanation (it is a translation from the original Greek, not a modern interpretation).
  5. So, I think ECC would be a great fit for your 3rd and 4th grader and could work for the youngers, but they may not get as much out of it as they might another program (or you could just add the good picture books from the book list).
  6. We are doing ECC next year year with my kiddos and are adding in FIAR for my littles. This year we tried to do Adventures together, and it worked okay (with me finding some younger alternatives of books and things), but my dd6 just didnt get as much out of it as I wanted her to, and I think it was because I was trying to make it work for an age it wasn't meant for. Next year my kids wi L be 6th, 2nd, and K. I just felt that my son had gotten so much more out of FIve in a Row at that age, so I decided to combine the programs! I will do the books that go along with whatever country we are studying at the time. We can still look at the maps and talk about the culture and people together.
  7. If it goes this well all year, I will do a combo of the two next year as well, with ECC and Core F.
  8. I am using MFW Adventures with my little one and Core D+E for my older and it is working out BEAUTIFULLY! I really feel like I have my groove now. I think this combo is perfect for both kids. My older is a major reader, so SL is a perfect fit for him, and Adventures keeps the two together while being more suited for my little one.
  9. Yeah, mine is all marked up, and I am planning to do a cheat sheet, but I'm not sure that will get finished before next week, when we start school! Will you share when you finish? I'll do the same.
  10. I feel like I need a cheat sheet for The Writer's Jungle. I have been reading it all summer in spurts, but I feel like I'd like to have an outline of the order of things she suggests. I recently bought the Arrow planner, but haven't gotten through it yet.
  11. LOVE that your mom quilts for you. Someday I want to pick back up my sewing!
  12. I'm a big fan of d'nealian handwriting, but other than that I totally agree with you...wise choice!!!!!;)
  13. Hugs! I go through this EVERY summer! I get to my breaking point and I need the break, knowing it is not the best thing for my son, so big hugs from me!
  14. I had to do a google search for them. I haven't gotten mine yet, and haven't ordered from this site before, so I can't recommend them at this point, but they have been ordered! www.betterschoolsupplies.com
  15. I was browsing blogs this weekend and came across a great blog with ideas about spelling. This mom had made out color coded mats or sheets in which her child would read the words, stamp them, then write them. I liked them so much that I bought a set of alphabet stamps in d'nealian font (which is hard to find), now I can't find those sheets. Can anyone help me out?
  16. Ooo, thanks for the French one. I had not seen that one before. I will print those out and use those pictures.
  17. I haven't seen any, but I like yours! Keep going,
  18. We did Miquon math last year for K and the rods REALLY helped my dd visualize the numbers and operations. I would recommend them for any program that doesn't include it's own manipulative.
  19. It might be fun to do some of the "critter" learning in winter, then re-visit in spring, when they already "know" about them. Does that make sense?
  20. Thanks! I got some good stuff! I even got some new pretend cooking stuff for my little ds, he'll be so excited!
  21. I felt that way about Core A last year. I just ended up reading the ones she could handle and then getting most of the pre k book and reading those too. Overall I think we had a good year, but it certainly didn't look like I thought it would. This year we are doing a combo of SL d+e ( for my older) and MFW for my younger.
