  1. This! I was planning to do the ahed later this week until dh announced that he's working from home because of the NFL draft (The event is actually happening here, a few blocks from his work, and the traffic will be insane!) I need to be able to "disappear" things without him noticing!! Also I need to check the county drop off sites for paint and other dangerous/flammable items before I start.
  2. Good morning! School Go to mom's new place and check in on her move. Ds to swimming? He's not feeling great. This and Cub Scouts hike tonight are tentative. These are no go. All day at home for Ds. Meal planning/prep Well, this may get changed to just managing tonight's dinner. Put china away. Take the leaf out of the dining room table. Bring the new school table in from my van and see how it works. Take the old table to the thrift store. The end of an era! I hate to see the small wooden chairs go. Homeschooling younger years was so fun. Lots of good memories.
  3. Tuna noodle casserole Canned soup Jello salad Boxed mac and cheese Frozen pot pies Thankfully, my mom was generally a great cook and never made us eat things we disliked. The above items were a tired, single mom's easy weeknight dinners. I will never eat tuna casserole or "congealed salad", but the other items, I enjoy as long as they are homemade. We never had canned veggies, thankfully. My step mother was not a good cook and did occasionallt try to make me eat some things I detested like hominy, lima beans, eggs, cooked tomatoes/tomato sauce. I always won the power struggle over food. That is one mistake I haven't made as a parent!
  4. Love this. Definitely brings back memories. I first heard this with Keith Green singing it.
  5. Church was glorious! Lunch is all done and my house is quiet except for the hum and churn of the washing machine. I could do yardwork on this warm spring day, like all my neighbors, but I'm going to put a chair in the sun and read instead. Sabbath rest!
  6. Happy Easter! Alleluia! Dh is gone to choir/ early service. My mom will ride with me and the kids later and eat lunch with us. Nice to have big kids who sleep in a bit. No one here was eating jelly beans and chocolate at oh dark hundred this year. Worship! Lunch Relax The last two days here were cold and rainy. I am so glad the sun is out today!!
  7. Alleluia!! To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!
  8. Easter baskets done! I had two Butterfinger chocolate eggs and one robin's egg.
  9. Sorry you are sick at Easter!!! Please love your neighbor as yourself by staying home until you are well! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  10. Napping! Just thinking. Cooking (with permission) Building a blanket fort Playing an outdoor game like freeze tag or kickball. Playing a board game or card game. Working a jigsaw puzzle. Making a gift for someone, sending a card or a note. Walking the dog. Brushing the dog. Bathing the dog?! Watch birds at the feeder. Play with boats and action figures in the tub?! Have a tea party. Help mom. Target practice with nerf guns and track of your score/progress. Build an obstacle course and run it. Teach someone else how to do something.
  11. All done, except for filling the Easter baskets. My shoulders and neck ache. Time for a cup of hot tea, a sample of my yummy lemon squares and some time to read with the heating pad underneath my shoulder.
  12. Still to do: Check Dd's math and science Text a neighbor. Bring stuff in from the cars. Get out decorations, china and silver. Hard boil some eggs for deviled eggs. Grocery for spinach and strawberries. Make up kids' Easter baskets - later tonight. Check kids' clothing plans for tomorrow. Iron clothes and linens.
  13. Seems like a lot to me! My kids do better with deep than broad, though. Maybe figure it out in terms of hours? I figured a 5-6 hr school day for 6th, plus time for novel reading, piano etc. YMMV! My then 6th grader read HO, plus some easy library books and 4 novels as her full History course. I had her outline a section of the text every other week and write a summary (1-2 paragraphs) every week. This student had MM6, R&S grammar, Center for Lit class 1x /mo with writing assignments at home, LfC B, and a light Science. so compared to your list, no spelling, geography, French or second history track, and a light science compared to your weekly online one. We found lots to discuss in HO and found those discussions to be profitable and fun!!
  14. Well, I have to figure out if Ds is well enough to go to church tomorrow and for us to have my mom over to eat. Prep for Easter meal. Make hash brown casserole, prep veggies, make lemon squares. Easter decorations. Help mom with moving things. Clean the house! Get a few last items for kids' Easter baskets. Ask dh to get the oil changed in my car and have them look at the brake fluid, which is low/leaking. You'd think I asked him to give up his whole day, the way he acted about this. Sigh. 45 minutes is obviously too big a sacrifice for the safety of your family, who ride in this vehicle every day. Remind dh to please vacuum. Figure out clothes for tomorrow. Remind ds to work on catechism and piano. Help dd to keep on track with school assignments.
  15. Got a lovely antique wall clock from my mom, but dh says it's too loud (it ticks and chimes) and won't have it running, so back it goes. Sigh.
  16. Hooray! And congratulations to you and your son!!
  17. Ds is feeling better due to Zofran, which enabled him to get rehydrated and eat some. He slept til 10:30, read some, and has been watching movies all afternoon. I've done a zillion loads of laundry today. Really, a zillion. Last load in now, bathroom rugs. Dd and I got lunch out at Five Guys, so not motivated to make much for dinner. Tomato soup and grilled cheese for us, Ritz and applesauce for ds. Next up: ?? Not sure. Too tired to vacuum. Hoping dh will do that tomorrow anyway. Maybe read while the soup simmers? Make lemon squares? Make a list for tomorrow? Take a nap?!
  18. Ds woke up around 11pm with a stomach virus, so all weekend plans here are tentative. Praying that Dd and I don't get it! Take care of my boy. Clean the house!! Laundry! Help dd stay on track with schoolwork. Get her feet sized for new shoes. ✅ Deskwork Walmart for ginger ale, applesauce, laundry detergent etc. ✅ Michael's for paint for Dd. ✅
  19. Big, comfy chairs! Online reserving and self checkout A nearby library has a periodical room with large windows, a gas fireplace, and an inviolable No Talking rule. Lovely!!
  20. AHG BOR night done! I emjoyed getting to hear from the girls and seeing how their personalities shape their answers. 1Tenderheart -3rd grade 2 Explorers -6th grade 1 Pioneer -8th grade 1 Patriot - 10th grade
  21. Getting a pedicure so that I will have pretty feet for sandals on Sunday. Thinking about teaching tree identification (withOUT smartphones!) while my feet are getting less ugly.
  22. We have an older laptop running Windows 7. We got a message from Microsoft saying that support for it will end next January and that we should update to Windows 10. I remember hearing some bad things about the newer version. Checking in here to see if that is still the case. (We never update to new software when it first comes out, so the mfr. has time to get the bugs out!) So Windows 10: excellent, good, bad, terrible?
