  1. My tutoring center bills for the coming month on the 15th, and they have a strict cancellation policy. Tutors are able to add some grace, but have the strict policy to keep flaky people from taking advantage. Their sick policy is not as good. Yeah, I have a bad cold right now that I got from a student’s “allergies”.
  2. Good morning! Ugh! I have a bad cold and feel crummy. Did get good sleep last night, though. Gonna drop Ds at school and go back to bed. No tackling today.
  3. @Eos I am so sorry and I agree with you. I understand how your Dd feels - same thing happened to me in boarding school and it was awful. I am glad you could talk with your Dd last night and I hope you can both catch up on sleep over the next couple days.
  4. And the public library!
  5. Cindy Rollins’ Beyond Mere Morherhood.
  6. Home Feeling crummy. Taking meds and going to bed. In Dd’s room, so my symptoms don’t keep Dh awake and to lessen his exposure. Taking some Benadryl, so hopefully I will sleep well. 😷🤒☹️😴 Not doing anything except driving Ds to school and practice tomorrow.
  7. Given this added explanation and excellent grades, I’d let him figure it out. Gentle, occasional conversations about health, wise use of time, etc., but not micromanaging.
  8. You can use software to limit where her can go on the internet during school time or to set timers that limit time on gaming, YT etc. Then grow slowly back into the responsibility and freedom that he is misusing.
  9. Did some housekeeping. Headed out shortly.
  10. I am still not feeling well; I think it’s a cold bc I can feel the progression. Can feel it in my sinuses now. Ugh. Went back to bed after dropping off Ds. Today: Tutor in person ✔️ Shower ✔️ Pick up milk ✔️ Electronic chores ✔️ Tutor in person ✔️ Pick up Ds ✔️ Church ✔️ Take meds and go to bed!
  11. Sorry for the rough road, @mommyoffive! Praying for relief and peace. Parenting is indeed the hardest thing!!
  12. We enjoyed the History Lives series.
  13. Picked up eggs. Guys ate the food I prepped/cooked for lunches. 😠 Well, they can figure out the next three days’ lunches by themselves. My snack is not agreeing with my stomach. Gonna drink some bubbles and go lie down.
  14. Snacked. Did some prep cooking. Picked up Ds Folded laundry
  15. This! So well said! We chose activities carefully and always had 2 weekdays just at home, until high school. We prioritized things we could all do together, things where Dh and I made friends too, lifetime activities, and a sane, unrushed schedule. We had church as an anchor activity, 2 or 3x a week during the school year, 1x in the summer. We added library story time and FT/park days with friends in the preschool years. Replaced by field trips later. Around age 7/8, we added music lessons and scouting. We had some sports, but not both kids all year and only 1 per kid at any time. I always kept spring free of any team sports so we could just be outside. We did not have any outsourced classes til late elementary, with an art and drama half day Friday program. We had a few each year 7th grade and up. As others have said, it varies with your kids’ ages, personalities, and interests. Budget, transportation, and location matter too.
  16. Zoomed again. Moved the laundry. Stew is almost done. Dropped stuff for practice at school for Ds. Coach changed the plan midday. Waiting for background check.
  17. First Zoom done. Stew for dinner is on the stove. Laundry is working. Next up: Make hot vit C tea.
  18. Got more sleep. Started some laundry. Having coffee and b’fast. Next up: Take vitamins, drink water Get dressed for first Zoom.
  19. Good morning! I am not feeling 100%. Very tired. Boy is at school. I am going back to bed! Later: 2 Zoom meetings ✔️ Go to appt for fingerprinting/background check ✔️ Pick up CSA eggs Grocery ✔️ Dinner is chx and sweet potato stew in the crock pot. ✔️ Mostly trying to rest today!
  20. Lax game was good. They didn’t win, but it was reasonably close and they played well. If we had a bigger team and more subs, we could have won. Nice chatting with other parents and the weather is lovely. Not sure if it’s some mild allergy symptoms or a cold coming on, but I have a bit of chest congestion and some sinus drainage and a slightly sore throat. Drinking water, taking zinc and vitamins. Headed to bed soon.
  21. @LifeLovePassion Ugh, that’s a lot to manage. Hope the sickness doesn’t spread and that your youngest feels better quickly.
  22. About to head to the game with Dh. Lasagna is good.
  23. Lunch was fun, though Chipotle food was meh.
