Sitting waiting for Hobbes to fail
bookfiend replied to Laura Corin's topic in General Education Discussion Board
How about a watch with an alarm that he sets? -
Yep, you need to stick to your budget. Fortunately, it sounds like your friend is fine if you bow out of the plan. However, it is likely she wil incur a cancellation or change fee if they have already booked the sites. You can quickly check the campground's policies on their website. IMO, you should cover any penalties.

Unintended consequences of using iCloud...
bookfiend replied to Sarah CB's topic in General Education Discussion Board
What did he do when he saw the first set of pictures? -
Instead of hand towels, I have big stacks of terrycloth washcloths. They are just the right size for hand drying and wiping up small spills. After one use, I drop it to the floor and leave it there to clean up the next floor spot (typically dog, water bowl drool). Then they go into a small seperate laundry basket for bleach wash every 3 days or so.

Ok this thread absolutely should become heir to the how-to-avoid-the-stroller-lady thread. :D I will be checking in tomorrow! Maybe take pictures of all the unfinished honey-do projects at your house - Oh wait; you want him to come home right? -
Boys Adrift: The Five Factors Driving the Growing Epidemic of Unmotivated Boys and Underachieving Young Men by Leonard Sax This book has a few very interesting chapters on the dynamics between video games usage and boy brains. He sites several research studies, and I think you would find it useful to read/discuss together with your son. It totally changed how my husband viewed videogame usage in our home and strongly influenced our approach today. This author also wrote "Why gender matters." Another fascinating read.

Help me go through with the MRI
bookfiend replied to Parrothead's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I'm a bigger gal and the sides felt too tight for me. I had to actively claustrophopia at bay by reigning in my mind with worship songs. Also, VERY helpful - a blindfold or washcloth over your eyes. I was in an open tube, but the top was mayby 2-3 inches from my face. -
Tell me to get over it (dry erase board)

Can you slide it under the couch at the end of the day, and prop it up on an easel when in use? I actually like the write on the window option the best! -
Peach tones would be very pretty on her and with the dress. There are some great videos on You-tube about how to apply eye make-up if she hasn't had much practice.

I wonder if the reason that children are able to handle this with more equamity is that they aren't s#xually aware. Whereas, as adults we know exactly how sick and potentially threatening this man's actions are. Children would more likely relate g#nital exposure to bathroom habits and think gross/weird. In some ways their innocence protects them, in others it makes them more vunerable. just pondering.

Does he play the notes on the flashcards in a timed manner? This is the only benefit I can see from them - quick sight reading and muscle memory of the notes, similar to knowing your multiplication facts cold. However, being able to verbally name the notes quickly has little to no value.

Is there an heirloom something or item with special memories attached that you would be willing to give/share back to them as a couple. It would be a nice way of showing the new wife she is openly welcomed into the heart of your family (assuming she is). I also still like the wine idea. A really great bottle, from this year, that is meant to be opened in 10 or 15 years on their anniversary.
