  1. :iagree: I would advise friend to take care of her own health (physical and mental) and her own s#xual satisfaction. Continue to love and support her husband, and not manipulate him by tricking into an appointment or give him an ultimatium. In a sense, to mentally disengage his problems from hers because one person can not control the actions/choices of another. So after giving voice to her preferences and concerns, continuing to press just builds walls of resistance. This is because the issue isn't that the husband hasn't heard her or doesn't know he has problems, but because he is unwilling to face or fix them yet.
  2. You may want to call the company to confirm, but I spoke with them about this last year when they started rolling out revised editions of Alpha, Beta... The answer essentially, is that the student books are unchanged (except for binding format). It is the teacher's manual which they revised to include expanded solutions. I have since purchased student books and used my unrevised DVDs with no problem.
  3. Our library also has a $2.00/book; $10.00 total fine. They will stop lending if the account hits $50.00. Shamefully, I abuse this system and wait until my fines are near that before I clear the account for $10.00. I hope our library administrator never reads this thread; I'm grateful for the cap.
  4. Yes, but then she would have to consider sharks and jellyfish...
  5. We have issues with copperheads in this part of the country also. My BIL told me that you can spread mothballs around an area where they might live (or you don't want them to), and they will leave. Seemed like a cheap solution to try.
  6. I'm late circling back around to this discussion. I understand your point about making value judgments on how others spend their time and money, and in general, I agree. The underlying difference with the dolls seems that they aren't as much a hobby as they are a no-commitment alternative to actual people. It reminds me of folks who dress up little monkeys treat them as real children. It diminishes the humanity of a living child.
  7. What I don't understand is if someone has time and resources to invest in a fake baby, why they don't go out and help REAL people. Volunteer somewhere! That is just messed up.
  8. I have been able to give all the memberships away. Thank you moderators for allowing me to post. Blessings to all in their health journey.
  9. I sent you a PM. Look up next to your sign-in, next to the welcome message. You will see a bolded sign that says "notification." Click on it to get to your personal messages (like private e-mails.) When I was new to the boards, it took me a long time to figure out how they worked!
  10. I just posted this thread if it can help anyone. If you eat organic or gluten free,
  11. I'm not certain, you may want to check the website. I believe they ship within the 48 for free if your order is over $99, everything else is a flat $10? shipping fee. Outside of the 48, the shipping policy is different. I'm excited because they are soon planning to add produce in the western half of the country and then eventually to the east coast as well.
  12. I have three, free memberships at http://www.greenpolkadotbox.com/invite/id/11725/ - a buyer's co-op for organic and gluten-free food at wholesale. I have five memberships that I am able to give away every year and there are three left. I don't know anyone else personally who eats like we do. In the interest of full disclosure, you will be affiliated to my account. This isn't a pyramid scheme, I don't earn any money or cascading rewards; however, I do receive 'points' toward additional groceries when you buy your products (kinda like Amazon). Honestly, my desire in posting is to help a family who needs to eat gluten-free order from this company for free, instead of paying $50.00 or $120.00 for their membership. Please PM me if you want one of mine. Although I am not selling anything, because of the 'points' issue, I hesitated for a long time before posting this. If I am in violation of the board rules in any way, I respectfully ask the moderators to delete this thread. thank you, K Update: The memberships have all been spoken for.
  13. So will guests be afraid to actually use the toilet paper like they are the special hand towels?
  14. Given that our church recently had a 'credible bomb threat', I would hope some people are CC.
  15. Also interested. I have briefly scanned the videos at various times. Is there a master syllabus that outlines the teaching videos with content?:bigear:
  16. Look at the latest IKEA catalouge for space saving ideas. Start with clearing out your closets, drawers and pantries so that you have room to put away the things you want to keep. Find hidden space, under beds and couches for out of season clothes or bedding. Shelves up high, over dooways and windows. Honestly, I think it is more expensive to custom build than to buy storage options. There are just so many flexible pieces available now.
  17. That's all I needed to hear! :D http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17511011
  18. Never asked and frequently thank me for homeschooling them. They also plan to buy the house next door and live beside us forever. :D
  19. We were at Greenville last year and chose not to attend this year. The venue itself was not appealing, especially where they placed SWB. In reviewing this year's speakers, many were the same WITH the same seminar titles. Seemed like a do over. Finally, the vendor hall was about 1/2 the size we have here in NC. Wish the NC convention wasn't on Memorial Day weekend..... All grumbling and pickiness aside ;-) I'm actually very grateful to the many who travel to bring homeschool resources so close to my front door. We will attend a convention somewhere next year.
  20. I was thinking something like this too. The quilt was a treasured item that she want to be certain you retain. :grouphug: and sorry for your pain.
  21. I'm not much on budgets, but if DH every wants to have a calendar meeting... oh BABY!
  22. rabbit trail for the curious - What do you make?
  23. I think perhaps when we have a strong subject area, it is more difficult to work at a lower level with our children, and that builds frustration on the teaching side. I dislike teaching writing for this reason.
