  1. I would talk to the principle and get his plan of action in writing. Hugs to your little guy. We've dealt with bullies and my conclusion is that you have to insist they do everything in their power to help him, not just the other kid. Accountability goes a long way.
  2. :grouphug: Prayers for a good-solid-sale soon. btw... We purchased our home during the Christmas holidays, and it was beautiful seeing all the homes decorated.
  3. If car sickness is a worry, do keep saltines, water, ginger-ale and bags handy. Bubbles went a long way at rest stops for us when mine were little. I also bagged up treat bags filled with lots of little things to open when the ride got long. Tape was always a hit with my ds:001_huh:. We also collected rocks along the way or sticks, leaves what ever to compare. Have a safe and happy trip.
  4. :grouphug: Sympathy, I hope it's working asap.
  5.:lol::lol: Hey, were you the momma on the Pan Am flight to Frankfurt with me?
  6. I used to enjoy it, but it's so cold here and people line up at night in the freezing temps for a very limited number of things....I've moved onto the on-line option and enjoy seeing the UPS guy drop off my packages a few days later.:001_smile:
  7. :grouphug: Crying is good for the soul. Prayers for your neck & head and do see your doctor. Whiplash is something you don't want to ignore.
  8. :001_huh:Sheplers is a cowboy store...:001_huh: Ihni, now I get it. Hats, boots and guns...very cool. Around here, I guess we'd meet up at the ultra cool Land's End Outlet or maybe the Cheese Factory. :tongue_smilie:
  9. Sue, I really believe each family knows best. When my dd turned 13, we went to the Clinique counter and had the rep show her how and what to wear... as per my limits. She ended up with a good facial soap, moisturizer, a very pale lip conditioner/shine and a peachy eye shadow that she only wears with permission. I thought she needed to learn how to care for her skin and how to apply it without looking made up. We had a nice day and she got the less is more message.:001_smile:
  10. dd8 would be privately talked to at our house about what is appropriate behavior for an eight-year-old-young-lady. The ds5 would be given more of a break. Yes, normal behavior to test the boundaries and get some attention, however... my attention would not be wanted... kwim? And my ds thought all things dealing with poo or pee hysterical for longer than I care to remember.:001_huh:
  11. I hope to pass it on to my dd, but wish my actual skills were better. Right now, I'm waffling on whether or not to purchase a new machine. I went with a China made cheap-o one that didn't last a year. I'm just not sure I deserve a really good machine.
  12. I'd be upset, I'd get over and drive my family myself. I agree with the poster that mentioned different families have different ideas of what is acceptable/normal. In my case the entire night would have gone against my degree of normal/acceptable. However, I'd simply not confront her about this and just move on.
  13. :tongue_smilie: I don't do the View or Oprah, I watched the link and remembered why. No time for day time TV here, and it looks like I'm not missing much.
  14. I purchased mine at Target during their school sale last year, but I'm not sure if they are a regularly stocked item.
  15. Love these pencils. We are still using the same package opened up last year and they are going strong. I wonder how long it will take us to go through them and need to open up another package? Ticonderoga leads were always snapping around here too. We liked them, but were spending way to much time at the sharpener and they quickly became to small to deal with.
  16. Oh, gosh...I'm mentally moving where you are. Bare feet sounds dreamy...
  17. I haven't read all the responses, but I'd change doctors.
  18. I've learned around here not to fuss about any temperature reading above zero...because no one will listen and below zero is really, really cold. I prefer an average temp of 71' with no need for heat or ac, but that just ain't gonna happen around here.
  19. Morning tea and the paper and in the evening a hot bath followed by reading in bed. And after our lessens each day, I try to talk with my mom on the phone.
  20. Yes, yes, yes. The keys, cell phones, sunglasses, mail, gloves seem to multiply on that counter. I have noticed I seem to be the only one who can put things away or know they are there. No one else here seems to be able to actually see the pile, and I'm constantly getting questions about where is my hat, keys, gloves, sunglasses etc.
