  1. Sounds very fishy to me. If someone is giving things "free" via dropbox that's just wrong.
  2. Just got an email to the website for the new Barton Tiles app. It's not available right now but should be starting June 1st. www.BartonTiles.com

  5. Yep that's really all there is to it. I wish I only had to send in my copy of my HS diploma once, but they don't keep it on file in my city, so I have to send it every year. So I scanned it in and just print one when I print my updated "description of curriculum" attach it to my NOI and send it in the envelope along with test scores for the current year. I found it easier to send in the NOI and DoC for the next fall with the test scores.
  6. We've been married almost 16 years and I do it all. He could if it came to it, but with him deploying as often as he has, it was always just easier for me to do it. I only write 2 checks a month (on to dd's art teacher and one to the orthodontist) everything else is paid online.
  7. about 3 years ago I finally gave in and took my dh's advice to go to a local bra shop for a proper fitting. None of the department store fittings ever seemed to result in a well fitting bra. Well low and behold it was because they didn't carry the proper size for me. They were putting me in 40DD, when I really need a 34J. Yeah big difference. I ended up getting to Panache styles and LOVE them. I even found out that they carry them on Amazon so I can order them with Prime shipping!!
  8. Seton now offers the ITBS and Terra Nova, as well. The ITBS just required my husband to give some information about his degree.
  9. From all the research I've done, they are not from Australia. Subaru was founded in Japan. The name Subaru is the Japanese name for thePleiades star cluster, thus the logo. They do have manufacturing plants in many nations though.
  10. Well all my kids don't wear glasses. I have a slight astigmatism in my right eye but don't require glasses. My husband however has been pretty much blind as a bat since he was 12. Our daughter has needed vision therapy due to eye teaming issues but she also seems to have other learning issues going on and still doesn't need glasses.
  11. I think the TWSS is excellent if you want to pick your own topics that tie into your other studies or if you want to do a theme pack. The TWSS will teach you the methodology of IEW. I'm guessing your 5th grader did something that would be comparable to an SWI. I would probably pick the TWSS for you and then choose a theme pack that you think they'd enjoy, or if you're confident in picking topics you can tie into your history or science curriculum, you can just get the TWSS and teach it all on your own.
  12. I don't know her IRL, but do know her via FB. She's doing good and plans to post an update soon.
  13. My mom has an 2003 Outback (I think it's an 03) and she loves it. It has well of 100,000 miles on it and the only things she's had to have done is new tires (quite often because she uses it to deliver newspapers in it daily) and a hose for the radiator because it had a leak. I had an 05 Forrester and if we all fit in it I'd still have that vehicle. I loved my Subaru, but we just couldn't fit 3 kids in carseats in the back seat. I wish they made something along the lines of my Expedition. If they did I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I can say that once my kids are grown I'll definitely be buying a subaru again.
  14. If I'm not mistaken she's in the Hampton Roads area now right? I would have her check out the Tidewater Sew and Vac shops. They have shops all throughout the HR area and the staff is very helpful in all the ones I've been in. I'm jealous of the ladies that got their Babylock imagines for $1K. Mine wasn't quite that much of a deal.
  15. Do you have a really small dog? I can't imagine not picking up after mine, every few days or we'd not be able to walk around easily in our yard. It takes a good bit of time for the packages from a 70lb dog to be dealt with by nature.
  16. I'm glad I could help, if you have any questions post away and I'll do my best to answer them.
  17. Yes from what you describe SWI-A would be great for him . My dd is 11 and reads about the same level and she's found SWI-A to be fun. You don't want to bump the level up and frustrate them. This shouldn't be about challenging the reading, it's about the writing. If you don't want to do an SWI then the TWSS with ancients theme pack should be good.
  18. This is just plain bizarre. Those FAQs were ridiculous.
  19. I posted on another thread about this. In my not so humble opinion, if you want to do a theme pack first instead of an SWI, then you need the TWSS. The TWSS will teach you the method and the theme pack will then give you the laid out topics. You can use and SWI without the TWSS as long as you at least watch the video at some point so you know how to help if needed.
  20. If she is at least an average reader for her grade level then yes I would go with B. The only real difference between the two is the reading level of the source texts used and the pace of B moves a little quicker, but you can always slow it down if needed by doing more supplemental assignments using paragraphs you find on your own. I'd call them and switch it. They are excellent to deal with.
  21. No it's not needed or necessary. I have kids in many different levels of AAS and although I have the homophone book I've never actually used it. There is no mention of it in the lessons that I remember.
  22. I was able to finally get through to the school this morning. The Asst. Principal (who is different from the one we worked with a few years ago) was very nice and said she'd make sure they got us on the testing list, but that it may be a while as they have 65 days by law. She also said that although they may be able to do all the testing, they are only required to provide speech therapy and nothing else so if anything else shows up on the testing we would then have to find treatment elsewhere.
  23. OE, I wasn't thinking they were taking me for a ride, but there is simply no way we can afford a program where the least expensive option is $1000 a month for 6 months (that's 3hours a week at in office and 3hours a week of homework) She has gone through VT already. From all that we see and what others have observed there are no sensory issues, so she's never had OT. I'll check out C8kids.
  24. IEW= Institute for Excellence in Writing (www.iew.com) TWSS= Teaching Writing: Structure and Style SWI= Student Writing Intensive (there are 3 levels which correspond to the students reading ability when they do the program more than anything else) SICC= Student writing Intensive Continuation Course (this is where you go after your first SWI if you used one (you start with the SICC of the same letter level) and the progress through the remaining SICC levels) If there are any others you'd like to know just drop me a line.
