  1. The main point for me in all of this is that I'm sick of people telling me that if I prefer to drink soda or buy processed foods or whatnot that the government needs to step in and "Save" me from myself. I'm not stupid, I don't need you police my choices. Like another poster said by being an American Citizen I'm guaranteed the pursuit of happiness. My pursuit happens to include having whatever darn size soda I feel like. I may not be your perfect image of health, but you know what, TOO BAD. If you think soda or cigarettes, or alcohol, or (insert other item of choice here) is the devil then don't partake in them and leave me alone.
  2. But they don't have a law about how many packs of cigarettes one can buy do they? Where's Bloomburg's crusade against that?
  3. I'm having a brain fart day and was reading it as "Look identical" I know the two that are joined at the head and the one rides around on a stool with wheels certainly don't look identical, like another person mentioned the one actually looks more like a boy.
  4. We have a very small amount in some ROTH IRAs for retirement, but it's not that much. We have maybe $1000 total in some educational IRAs for our two oldest (that's total not each) but we are still working on getting some debts paid off and we never intended to pay for our kids to go to college. It just wasn't something we were ever going to be able to do so we weren't planning on killing ourselves to do that. The only reason we have anything is because of gifts for the kids we were requested to put in those accounts. ETA: also contrary to what the person in OPs post said, PS isn't FREE.
  5. I have painted in a rental, but never an apartment rental. You should first check your rental agreement or lease, some of them will have stipulations about whether or not you can paint and if you do if you need to paint it back to neutral before you move out. If it doesn't say I'd check with the landlord before you went ahead and did anything.
  6. I'm not sure why you're upset. Two day shipping is just that. It is guaranteed to arrive two days after it ships. Amazon has never claimed that those two days include the time it may take to get the order in and boxed up ready for shipping. I'm not sure what time you ordered on Tuesday either, if it was late, then very possibly your order didn't enter the system until some time on Wednesday. I know if I order after say 5pm, I don't even expect my order to go through until the next day and figure it can take up to a day to get to it in the line of orders to pack and send out for shipping. The two days don't start until it's sent off to the shipping company.
  7. I realized this is rare, but wanted them to be aware of it. My ortho kept telling my parents to "just give it time" so I thought they should be aware that this can happen so if they notice this, make it known or voice your concerns. I was the same age as the OPs daughter when this happened to me, and I had no other issues like the one you mentioned.
  8. Just make sure they really know they'll be able to come down. They did this with me when I was a teen and the tooth they thought they could pull down wasn't actually fully formed and instead of moving down, pulled all my other teeth up. I then had to go back and have that stuff undone which meant another 6 months in braces than if they had just left it all alone and put a bridge in after my ortho treatments were done.
  9. It's not really a fear of mine, but your story reminded me of a bad pattern I have when mowing the lawn. It seems the last few years we've had an abundance of praying mantises here in hampton roads, or at least in my area of it. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go out to mow the lawn from about July-Oct, I'm jumped by at least 1 if not 2-3 of them. They seem to jump out of the trees as well as the lawn and land right on my head or shoulder. I used to freak out but after the 4th time in a row that happened I just brush them off to a safe place or let my kids grab them and relocate them for me. Sometimes I don't even notice and my kids will flag me down to let me know I have a Mantis on my head, so they can pick it off.
  10. I had an LG Tromm washer from 2005-2010 and hated it. More repair calls were made on it than anything we've ever owned. CS was horrible. I love my Fisher Paykel washer/dryer and my Bosch dishwasher. We got our Bosch at Sears. My brother has our Samsung fridge it's 6 years old and never had any problems with it at all, he's still using my 15 year old Whirlpool washer, he had to replace the agitator fins because they actually just got worn down after so many years. I have an LG fridge in my rental now and I hate it, part of that is because it is a side by side which I hate, but the other is the shoot that directs the ice in the door broke and they don't make a replacement so I had to epoxy the thing back together. The ice maker never shuts off because that bar that's supposed to shut it off doesn't actually do that, so I actually have to manually flip the switch to make sure it doesn't overflow all over in my freezer. If you put anything anywhere near the back of any shelf on the fridge side it gets frozen. It also has a digital panel on the front to set temps etc, that will randomly just fritz out, with no rhyme or reason. I shouldn't have to "Reboot" my fridge.
  11. I would have done the same thing. My dh is in the Navy as many know and I was a nervous reck when he took us on the air craft carrier for a tour. He was letting the kids then 6.5, 4, run all over the flight deck and just stood their holding the 6 month old about 3ft from the edge. I was FREAKING OUT!
  12. I have a fear of falling from heights. I'm totally ok with being up in the air, as long as I'm not near an open balcony, floor to ceiling windows etc. I hate going to the mall with my kids because they like to stand right by that damn upper level railing and it freaks me out to no end. I truly know they are safe and won't fall through or anything, but I get all sweaty, my heart races, etc. until they step a good 2ft away from it.
  13. My costco, has a person at the end to help the cashier, but they aren't a bagger, they are just there to put your stuff back in the cart, which speeds things up. I've never shopped at a warehouse store that had actual baggers, they are just there to keep things moving since some people are truly remarkably slow at removing their items from the belt.
  14. Those are the same ones I have and linked to above. They are THE BEST!
  15. No thanks I'll stick with my current reusable bags. I hate the cheap ones they sell at the stores and prefer my heavy canvas ones from reusit.com. I've had 8 of them for 10 years and about 12 of them for 2 years and you can't tell the difference between the old and the new. If they get dirty or something spills I just toss them in the washer. I also have 4 insulated style ones for when I go the commissary and get frozen/cold things as the drive is a bit longer than from my usual store. I have a set of produce bags too, because I hate those plastic ones they give you at the store. They are pricey, but like I mentioned the last a LONG time. I'm always getting compliments from the baggers at the commissary, they love my bags. They can pack them really full and not worry about the handles breaking or the bags ripping.
  16. My kids all had/have them. My oldest had a crib comforter that was his blanket. About 3 years ago it was getting really threadbare so he asked me to do something my mom did for me. I placed it inside of a new blanket I made him using it like quilt batting. He still has and uses his new blanket with "Blankie" inside, but it never leaves his room. That was a choice he made on his own. My dd always had a fondness for a teal blue thermal receiving blanket that she wadded up under her head at night. It came everywhere, when she was about 8 it was starting to get holes so she placed it on a shelf in her closet and that was the end of it. All she asks is that it stays on the shelf until she's ready to part with it. My youngest has a blanket and a pig beanie baby that goes everywhere he does. He's 7.5 now and he's very responsible for them. If they go out with us he'll leave them in the car when we go into a restaurant or mall etc. He has asked me to do something with his blanket like I did his brothers, but it's one of those thermal receiving blankets like his sister had so it's not really a good substitute for quilt batting. I have offered to make him a small envelope style pillow case that he can fold it up and plut it inside of and he likes that idea. The pig I'm not sure. He has an identical one, but it's not the same as the ratty old one. We've never restricted where they can take them, but make sure they know if it gets lost there isn't a way to replace it.
  17. sending positive thoughts and vibes your way. :grouphug: If you need a friendly listening ear just message me.
  18. Thank you, I guess I could ask my mom what came of things when he was going through cancer treatment before he passed away, but this may be an explanation.
  19. I have dark blonde hair and brown eyes. My parents both had dark brown hair and mom had brown eyes dad had hazel. My brother had the blonde hair that got dark and hazel eyes. My husband was a blonde that turned dark with bluish gray eyes. All of our kid were born with blue eyes, older two have turned hazel, youngest still has blue. Oldest two were blonde at birth and are now dark blonde, Youngest was born with red hair (like an orangutan) and is now blonde. Now tell me how this is possible. My Dad's dog tags said he was O+, my mom and brother are B+ I'm AB+ I've had many people tell me that it's not possible for my dad to actually be my father, but I look just like a perfect combo of he and my mother.
  20. I completely see where you're coming from. I on the other hand am so used to giving out mine or dh's it doesn't phase me at all to be asked for it. When it comes to the military very little is done without me having to give out his SS#
  21. I'm one of those large SUV driving women, but I never do the around the vehicle gas pumping thing. It's stupid and really hard to get the darn pump in the truck that way anyhow. I also want to add that in my area there are plenty of people that drive tiny compact cars and still can't seem to park in the lines or not on some crazy angle that makes it hard to park next to them and/or get in or out of my vehicle. Let's face it some people are just obnoxious no matter what type of vehicle they drive.
  22. I voted monkeys are cool. We have a small amount in savings, but not anywhere near a months worth of income. We do have a card that is only for our Ford Dealership just in case my truck needs repairs. We also have a care credit card for any vet emergencies. Right now we're working on building up to a $1000 emergency fund (have about half) and working toward paying off our debts and getting to the live on last months income step of the you need a budget program. I don't really feel uncomfortable, but mostly that's because I consider dh's job very secure and don't see anything in our near future that would cause us to lose that income.
  23. As far as I know once an advert is closed it can't be searched for.
  24. I don't have a Senior but I agree that I'd just use her SAT or ACT score as her testing requirement for this year.
