  1. sunny side up. the only time a hard cooked yolk is acceptable is if it's hard boiled or used in deviled eggs. Deviled eggs should not have mustard (GAG) or any sort of pickle product in them. I also like egg salad, which is kind of like deviled eggs chopped up on bread. I will eat scrambled if they are not overcooked and dry, thus I will not under any circumstances eat an omelette.
  2. I've read 13, 2 of them were Tess and Jude both by Hardy. I was the unfortunate soul that was assigned Hardy for her AP English Lit research paper her senior year. I know someone said there were 2 Hardy on the list, but there were actually 3. I didn't realize he was that popular, I know I couldn't wait to be done and never did finish Tess, it was too similar a story line to Jude which I didn't care for either. I've also never read Austen, and noticed she was on the list quite a few times. I'm ok with not having read some of them.
  3. They are not punishing you for returning the "Wrong one" they are honoring the sale of BUY ONE at full price, Get ONE at full Price FREE. If you had only purchased one item you wouldn't have paid full price, not half.
  4. The short answer... because they just work. The long answer... because they work the way you expect them too. They are intuitive to use. If I think that's what I should have to do in order to use something on my mac that's the way it works. My kids and I switched over in 2011 and will never look back. It took them about 2 days to make the switch over to knowing how to work everything. I've never had an issue with my macbook pro or their imac until recently, when their CDrom drive broke. Before I had this macbook I had a Dell laptop, it was less than a year old and had needed repairs a half dozen times. Enough that the the tech guys they sent out knew me by name and would chat about this kids with me. My husband has the same model which is now 3 years old and has had 3 times as many repairs and updates, including one time when they had to replace the motherboard on it.
  5. My oldest just turned 15 yesterday and sleeps with his blankie every night. It was the crib blanket from when he was an infant and it started falling apart so I let him pick out some fabric and quilted blankie inside as the batting. He brings it out of his room during the winter and wears it draped on his shoulders. My 12.5 year old daughter doesn't sleep with her turquoise thermal receiving blanket anymore but it stays safely on the shelf in her closet. My 9 year old has a blue thermal blanket that is falling apart but he won't part with he also have a beanie baby pig that came with a charlottes web movie named Clean Piggy that goes almost everywhere in the house with him. My son loves pigs the way DMMetler's daughter loves Draggie. We also tried the buy another pig, since Clean Piggy isn't all that clean and has had "surgery" more times that I can remember. The replacement didn't work, that's now Super Clean Piggy. I am fine with it all. I once had a wise wife of one of my husbands commanding officers say, "They'll know when it's time, they won't walk down the aisle at their wedding sucking a pacifier or carrying a blankie"
  6. Junior AG is really only covering the first season of AG. My oldest son actually did JAG twice and is now on AG season 1 as an 8th grader. I have not used the JAG mechanics, but plan to with the younger kids.
  7. I am in VA and have been here for 6 years, homeschooling for all of them. When we did the Iowa we did all sections to make sure it said composite on that results paper, it's a pain but that's the way it works. I've had a friend get the results rejected because it said Core, not composite for those math/LA sections. If you're only testing to satisfy that hurdle I would go with the CAT survey from Seton. It has 20 questions for each of 3 LA sections and 20 questions for each of 2 math sections and you're done. I've never had them reject my CAT scores. Edited to add, I'm in Chesapeake and the lady that runs our homeschool office here is a bit of a pain about these things too, so you might have someone that's not on the same powertrip as mine and it will be fine to turn in a Core Score.
  8. There just aren't words to express how sad this is to hear. I know we are thousands of miles apart but if you need a friendly ear know that I am here to listen. If you or Zia need anything that I can send please don't hesitate to ask.
  9. One 9 year old Pug named Festis who we call Fest, or Fest a$$ if he's really stinky One 4 year old Shar Pei named Kiya who we usually just call Ki (long i) or Ki Ki Puppy (long i sounds in the Ki Ki) One 10 year old Cat named Sammy (he came with that name. We adopted him when he was 6) we call him Sammy Sammy the kitty cat man One not quite year old Bearded Dragon named Spock, I call her Spocker, Pretty Girl, or Spocky McSpockerson We used to have a Shar pei mix named Rumples but we called her Rink or Rinky most of the time.
  10. I use Yukon Gold or plain ol' Russets. Peel cut into chucks and boil, then I do a quick mash with a hand masher, toss them in the mixer, add cream cheese, butter and start mixing. I slowly add cream until they look right, then I ask my eldest to taste test them, and add more cream cheese if he feels they need it. That's it. I agree that the cream cheese makes for a good reheatable potato, they don't seem to dry out when reheated if you use that. Sometimes I'll add some chopped fresh parsley to mine, but nobody else here likes that.
  11. By Zombie post I mean a really old post that's been resurrected. I'm guessing they come from someone doing a search and then not noticing when the original post was from
  12. You can't use USPS click n ship for anything other than Priority or Express, I use Paypal's multi-order shipping to ship things not paid for with paypal all the time. CDs most certainly are media mail as they are sound recordings. I'm thinking some of these postal workers are getting CDs confused with video games which now also come on CDs. They may also be confusing Media Mail with Library mail, the latter used to be called "Book Rate" and was only for books.
  13. I take Singulair daily for my asthma and it helps a little with allergies. During high pollen times (like now) I also take zyrtec. Claritan does nothing for me and Allegra gives me really bad headaches.
  14. Glad I could help. I actually was tipped off by another member here. I had never thought to look on amazon for things like microscopes before.
  15. You can get a microscope that is just as good for less money on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/AmScope-M500B-MS-Biological-Microscope-Mechanical/dp/B004UOIIQK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397335185&sr=8-3&keywords=amscope+40x-2000x This is the one I bought after returning the other one to HomeScience Tools. The HST one was good, but why pay that much if you don't have to. And this one comes with the mechanical stage already, no need to pay extra for it.
  16. My daughter swims for our YMCA swim team, and it is not USA swim affiliated, but other Y's in our area are so they are more strict about number of practices. I have no idea what a water fun day is, with our Y it's practice as usual after a meet. I don't sit in the Y pool area for practice, I sit in the lobby with the other swim parents. My daughter loves her team, but she does this for the fun of it. She has no aspirations of olympics, junior or otherwise. We ended up with our Y instead of one of the USA swim ones because the USA swim ones simply wouldn't return an email or phone call. Our coaches are nice, push the kids to better their times without barking at them. The coach for the USA swim Y is a yeller. I'm glad we ended up where we did. We are Y members so the price was $50 a month and we can stop at any time or put our swim team membership on hold if she wants a break.
  17. Our windows stuff didn't work well on our windows network. When we were an all windows family I had to constantly putz with the network to get it working or keep it working. I've never had any issues with iTunes either which seems to be a common complaint with many people. I had a non apple MP3 player and it was the biggest headache I've ever had. I know the price point for macs is high, but the macbook pro I'm typing on cost the same thing as the customized Dell my husband got me in 2011 and that customized Dell turned out to be the worst thing ever. He got one for himself too and it had to be replaced within 2 weeks. In the year I had mine they had techs come out to replace parts, fix things more than 6 times and even their techs had trouble getting things to work. This macbook has given me zero problems in the 2 years I've had it. My husband's god-daughter is using her dad's 10 year old macbook now at the Naval Academy for her classes and has had zero issues with that. We've never had a PC be able to still work after 4 years without major overhauls. I guess it all comes down to do you want to have to be messing with stuff or not. I like my Mac stuff because it just works the way I think it should.
  18. We have 2 Mac computers and a windows computer on our network which consists of an Apple Time Capsule connected to the motorola router for the cable internet, an Apple airport extreme to boost the range/signal upstairs, 4 iphones, 4 ipads, 3 apple tvs, and numerous ipods. We have absolutely no network issues at all. My husband is running not running windows 8 just yet, we had it on one of the old laptops and he hated it, but he is the loan Mac hold out and doesn't have any issues using all the mac stuff or with the network working between the mac and his Dell laptop.
  19. That is exactly why I will never go back to Windows. I have enough stuff that's a PITA in my life, I don't need to fight with my operating system too. LOL
  20. My husband has a 2005 Civic Hybrid and LOVES his car. It has about 93,000 miles on it, but would have more if he didn't deploy as much as he had since getting it. Never had any trouble with the hybrid battery. Still has the original brakes and is going strong. I don't mind driving it, but it's not my thing. I drive a gas sucking hog known as an '07 Expedition.
  21. When my daughter finished vision therapy but was still struggling with ready (her testing all came back with no dyslexia or any LDs) Barton was a god send, but after doing levels 2 and 3, 4 started to feel like a slog. Today i gave her the AAR 3 placement test and was amazed at how well she was reading. She's started reading books like The Warriors: Into the Night all on her own. Barton was right for her at that stage, but at this point it's more of a hinderance to her, so we'll move on. The best curriculum is the one that works at that point in time.
  22. Prisma color are ok, but we're fortunate to have a Jerry's Artarama close by, so i took my kids there and let them pick which ones they wanted and liked. They all chose These http://www.amazon.com/Koh-I-Noor-Progresso-Woodless-Colored-Pencils/dp/B004O7895I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392649656&sr=8-1&keywords=koh+i+noor+colored+pencils
  23. Congrats Imp. I can say I knew you when, and I even know your real name :tongue_smilie:
