  1. I downloaded the files to my computer, imported to iTunes, and then synced my iPad. I'm not sure there's another way currently.
  2. We still have two more weeks till it starts. I'm. It looking forward to getting dd up and going. I've been bugging her to try to get up with an alarm the past few weeks, but it's not working well. We're going to work out some sort of carpool with another family which is great because I thought I would end up driving the entire family most days. I'm still wondering if driving in pjs is a no-no though.
  3. I think you're mixing up level 3 and the 3rd edition. 3rd edition is no longer in print. It is interchangeable with the US edition though. Right now, for new books, your choices are Standard or US editions. http://www.singaporemath.com/FAQ_Primary_Math_s/15.htm
  4. Nope. I think it has the potential to be amazing. But I agree with everyone that this is not beta software. It's nowhere near that. The just put in lesson planning abilities, but we've always been able to do menus. :001_rolleyes: They just aren't anywhere near being usable. Wait until those of us who bought early finally get to really try it and report back. Then decide if you want it.
  5. My dad died last week and I'm watching my mom try to figure out how she's going to live on next to no money. My dad didn't "believe" in life insurance even though he had debt. :glare: I have a small plan through dh's work, but we need more for me to support the kids if I die. So what companies do you recommend?
  6. I wish I could go, but I have a newborn baby. I loved listening to Swb the first time I heard her.
  7. Explain handball to me It looks like a soccer/basketball hybrid. But it's in the Olympics. I'm glad the announcers know what they're talking about because I have no clue what's going on.
  8. We have sand, but they delivered the wrong kind. You need play sand, not regular sand. The play sand doesn't compact so much. But both DSs love the sand and play with it a lot. More so than the actual swing set.
  9. I've sewed quite a bit of my DSs' stash. I really like the LaDiDa and Trimsies patterns, but I think the Darling Diaper pattern is worth it's weight in gold. It has pages of instructions about everything you could hope to know. I prefer to buy my supplies over the internet because I think I get better materials that way. I can't use microfiber as a soaker because of the water here. Flannel has to have tons of layers in order to work well. I couldn't even close the one flannel diaper I made it was so bulky. I use bamboo fleece (different than the fleece sold at JoAnns) for a soaker mainly. I also order my elastic on the internet. And aplix when I use it. I think most everything can be bought locally though. It's not easy and quick though. There were quite a few sewing sessions that involved tears and screaming. Sewing diapers has improved my sewing skills a lot. Make sure you get a pattern that has good steps to walk you through. And visit MakeLaughLove because the ladies there are a great help. There are lots of blog posts and youtube videos out there as well.
  10. DH & I have been on Royal Caribbean and Carnival. We much preferred Royal Caribbean, although Carnival wasn't bad. We sailed out of Galveston both times. DH & I just like to chill so we had a good time with both lines. Cruising out of NY, you'll loose time getting to the Caribbean. Last time I looked, cruising out of Florida was cheapest, but you had to get there. So it was a wash for us. You don't need passports, but I'd get them. If something happened to you (medical emergency, miss the boat, etc) you can't get back in the country without them. Cruises are all inclusive. Most of them have some restaurants you have to pay extra, but you'll always find food available for free 24-7. If you're talking alcohol, only the most $$$$ cruise lines offer this as an option. I believe most of them will sell a package of wine though. I'd get travel insurance. It's only $100 or so, but gives you your $ back if something goes wrong. When you're already spending $1000+, it's not much. And cruisecritic.com is a great resource. The forums are a great place to learn from.
  11. There's a post missing. It was spam and has since been deleted. Look at Jay3fer's post for a reply from Ztwist.
  12. I'd never do wood in the kitchen. It's asking for problems. We did tile downstairs, engineered wood (not laminate) in the bedrooms, and carpet in the upstairs bonus room. We should have done wood upstairs. I hate cleaning carpet.
  13. Both times my water broke, i was in bed. With dd I had the "movie" water breaking with a huge gush that just kept coming. With my last DS, I felt like I had peed even though nothing had happened, like laughing or sneezing. I got up, went to the bathroom, and nothing. Laid back down, had to go to the bathroom, and leaked before I got there. This kept happening. Any time I stood up I leaked. I finally googled it to see if my water had broke because it was so different than dd. After about an hour of this I decided to call the dr and go in. By the time I got to the hospital 45 min away I was having contractions so it was obvious I was in labor. Ended up with a csection at 2 am. It's an easy test to see if your water broke. Better safe than an infection.
  14. My almost 5 yo still naps for an hour or two most days. I don't expect the 2 yo to nap as long as him, but quiet time is a must in our house.
  15. My dd is on her way back right now. The stake president said no pregnant women at camp or I would've gone. Maybe. The stake director is in our ward and a good friend so a bunch of us ladies help out. Last year I helped with cooking. This year I cut out 150 cupcake crown wrappers with my cricut. they had a new venue this year so I can't wait to hear how it went. I know it's a big stressor getting everything ready. But now you have 12 more months until the next one. :D
  16. Well, why bother repenting now, if you can later? Because it makes life easier if we don't have sin hanging around. Same with being sealed. There are blessings that come from it that we can all use now, not just later. And my kids are begging for lunch, so I'll let someone else answer better now. ;)
  17. Once again, the reason I don't post much to these discussions is because someone else explained it better than I. As MamaSheep said, we don't know exactly what that quote means. It's there. We believe it, but what does it mean exactly? We don't know. So people speculate. Some with answers that might be close and some with wild ideas.
  18. The problem with going to a non official lds website (even asking us :001_smile: ) is exactly what you just posted. Someone can say, "well, I think/heard/was taught..." and it's not official, just one of those Mormon urban legends. As far as the whole being black, mark of Cain thing, it's never been official teaching as far as I remember. It goes back to the church only using official teachings now, so those urban legends don't get taught. We know very little about the pre existence or the after life. Most of it is someone saying, I think xxxx. And like was mentioned by pp, just because someone, even an apostle or a prophet, said xxxx, doesn't make it official doctrine. About 15 years ago President Hinkley said he didn't think women should have theirs ears pierced more than once and men at all. Just because he (the prophet) said not to do it, doesn't mean if you have multiple piercings you won't go to heaven, be able to go to the temple, etc. It's still just his opinion. Eta: this is why President Hinkley said he doesn't know that we teach it. We don't teach it. It's one of those things that get speculated on, but not taught.
  19. Yup. First time for me hsing two kids. DD will be in 9th and DS will be in K. Along with a 2 yo & a newborn. We'll see how the year goes. :001_smile:
  20. I think about 1/2 the people on this thread are talking about whole life and 1/2 are talking about term. Whole life is generally considered a rip off. It's a poor investment. We have about $10,000 for each of the kids through DH's work. It's very little $ each year. We've used it once. DS1's funeral was about $2000 because the funeral home didn't charge us for their service, otherwise it would've been more. We also had hospital expenses that we were then able to pay off. That's all you really need for a child.
  21. This is what I have and it works great. There's a thorough review on amazon that convinced me.
  22. That's when we went to WDW. We were lucky :tongue_smilie: in that there was a hurricane hitting back home so it kept it nice and overcast in Florida. But it was hot and miserable and we're used to that type of weather. Only way to do it: Get up early and hit rope drop. Leave around 1-2 and come back around 6. Bring ponchos. (We were walking into MK in the rain in our ponchos while everyone else was running out. It was great for lines.) Hit the shows. Use fastpasses and have at least a generalized touring plan. And be prepared to change things up because the heat is getting to someone. There was one time we got something to eat in Epcot, not because we were really hungry, but because we wanted to get out of the heat.
  23. We started with BCBS and then tried out a couple of different ones. We had GEHA at one point, but it was a disaster. They just wanted to argue about covering everything. At the time DS was still alive so we used it a lot with his medical issues. We ended up switching (back) to BCBS and have had them ever since. We used to have the High Option, but now it's just standard.:tongue_smilie: We're keeping it until we're done having babies, which is this one, and then we'll look in October to see if we want to switch. They do cover maternity 100% so that's nice. ETA: okay, so not in DC area so I don't know how the docs accept insurance up there.
