  1. I'm sorry your family is going through this. :(
  2. I'm so sorry. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  3. Mine put ours back in last year. It's two super small aisles in the itty bitty craft section. But at least now there's some place local for when I need a random yard or two. I still go to JoAnnes and Hancocks for better fabric though.
  4. This pretty much what we were required to provide. It also only took a month despite what they told us.
  5. Oh, poor girl. :( I wanted to cry. And then I laughed. You could literally see her thinking.
  6. Amazon, but I buy the official toner. I bought the off brand and had problems getting the printer to recognize it. It was a huge headache.
  7. No, it'll go on until they actually get a budget in place. We haven't had on in 4 years. And now it's biting our rear, instead onfDC's. There was talk a few years ago about furloughs, but they put in a temporary budget until a real one could be voted on. But they've yet to do it. And because it's the govt they do what they want. DH has mandatory overtime, yet he doesn't get paid time and a half. They throw in some acronyms, spin some numbers to say it's like time and a half, but the employees don't get paid that amount. It's the govt. As far as legalized slavery, it's one of those things you know about when you go in. DH's job carries numerous risks. Having to stay in an emergency is just one of them.
  8. Well, DH just got told by the union to look forward to a 40% pay cut with a most likely, 33% permanent pay cut. They think they'll have to get rid of overtime. No one is sure how that's going to work because there has to be some overlap between shifts. We're not excited by that amount of cut. I would really like to send my bills to DC. They all need booted.
  9. Yup. It stinks and because DH is considered an emergency personnel he has to work and not get paid for it. But congress still gets paid. And I won't say more because there's nothing nice to say.
  10. Dd was 8. They start early before the bones fuse together permanently.
  11. DS got $2 last night for his first one. I figure he'll probably get $1 from the tooth fairy from here on out.
  12. So,the plan is to do: History of the Medieval World Spanish (through Homeschool Spanish Academy--she's totally resistant to me teaching her language so I just threw in the hat) Medieval Lit (I'm still trying to figure out what) Window to the World (and possibly WWS II) Chemistry (I've just about decided on Zumdahl's text & the Illustrated guide) A Rulebook for Arguments (never got to it this year) Geometry (I'd like for it to be Jacob's 2nd ed, but may have to look for something else if I can't find a teacher's book) Computer Tech (Word, Excel, etc-another class that never happened this year) And something else. DD needs to pick some kind of elective, but she's waffling so far.
  13. Yes, but it didn't get shipped until Wednesday night. 24hours after I ordered it. So it didn't make it to the ups hub until today. I figured it would've gone out with Wednesday orders, but it didn't. And it's amazon most of the time, rarely UPS. Unless they use FedEx and then it's always late.
  14. Yup, just had this happen to me. I ordered something Tuesday night and it didn't get shipped until Wednesday night so I'm not getting it until Friday. That's three days and typical of what's been happening lately with Prime. I used to get stuff so quickly and it's not been happening lately.
  15. I'll just say, despite being an excellent reader (and thus speller, I think) I wish I had had phonics. Phonics helps teach the reasons behind why words are spelled the way they are. I don't know any of the rules and I wish I did. Advanced phonics leads into spelling rules. There are programs made for older kids. I think it would be worthwhile to go over it, even if its quickly.
  16. I don't have my book with me,but I'm pretty sure G.U.M. Was the recommended grammar program in the first edition of TWTM. No other recommendations, except R&S got the job done here. Have you looked at LOE? It seems to get good recommendations here lately.
  17. Wow. I think I love you. Like Parrothead, you've given me a lot to think on. I think dd can handle an honors course, but I'm not sure she could do the Alg 2 involved with Chang.
  18. Oh you're killing me. I'd *just* decided the use Jacobs' 2nd edition for geometry next year. And now you're telling me I'm not going to be able to find the TM? Which I have to have. Ugh. I still have some time, but now I need to find a back up.
  19. I own physical first and third editions of TWTM and the ebook of the 2nd edition and TWEM.
  20. Then make sure he understands that it's the meds or the hospital. Maybe the scare of future medical stuff will force him to take it. As a kid my mom would put crushed pills in jelly. I hope you can figure something out.
  21. Just a FYI for everyone, they now have the lab manual answers and workbook answers in the teachers resources. So nice to finally have that now.
  22. I told dd she needs to train towards and run a 5k this year for PE. Mainly because I want her to be healthy. She also did lifepacs health unit.
  23. One thing I remember SWB saying about the original edition was that the publisher wanted all the schedules in because they were afraid it wouldn't be taken seriously. But that SWB actually didn't do the schedules that were in there because they were too much. So yes, use what you wish from it, but don't rule out something because it seems to hard or too boring. I skipped copy work and dictation with dd because of it and now I wish I hadn't. They are useful precursor skills. My DSs will be doing them until they come out their ears.
  24. My understanding, from a while ago, was the wasn't possible on an ithingy. Apple won't let apps control other apps. With android it's possible, but not apple. However, I looked into it a couple of years ago when I first got my iPad so things may have changed since then.
