  3. Not only do they go on to top law schools but they excel in performance as well-from law review to National Law school moot court tournaments- and then on to judicial clerkships. Their Moot Court team has won 6 out of 8 national championships including the past 4 years consecutively. This past year they won all the Moot Court Regional tournaments. They always qualify the maximum number of teams a school can take to Nationals.
  4. Their students go on to the top law schools or graduate programs. Harvard, UVA, Columbia, Georgetown, Pepperdine, ....and more.
  5. Do you mean you would use Step Up to Writing instead of IEW? If so, can you share why? If in addition to or after, could you explain why? In other words, please share about Step Up to Writing. Thanks.
  6. Their accreditation was recently renewed for 10 years. http://www.phc.edu/20120403_tracs.php
  7. It is no more than 1 hour away from DC. We have personally done the drive.
  8. The book does tell you about the different types of CAPD. Not all audiologists do so. Some treat it as general CAPD. Different symtoms or effects for different types. Different treatments/therapies/accomodations. It may even just be the need for the habit of attention since she is such a young child. Some types of capd testing can actually show if there is unorganized information at the brain stem level. If so, therapy needs to start from the bottom up. Not just, auditory training. Just trying to help.
  9. I strongly recommend you read "When The Brain Can't Hear" by Terry Bellis. http://www.amazon.com/When-Brain-Cant-Hear-Unraveling/dp/0743428641/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339079253&sr=8-1 You can find at the library as well. All audiologists are not the same. Even those that claim they test for capd. You need to make sure you are using someone that knows what they are doing and doing all the specific tests. Yes, you need someone very specialized if the child is that young. You really need to educate yourself before you go to anyone.
  10. It depends on the state and on the school. In Florida, if you enroll with a 600 school you are considered a private school student and would not have access to the programs of public school students. Therefore, normally, you wouldn't have access to dual enrollment through the county school system. If you are just homeschooling under our homeschooling state laws, then you can dual-enroll through the county. You just need to get confirmation from the office where we submit our orginal letter of intent to homeschool and our yearly letter that the student has made progress. AS the previous poster from Florida stated, the umbrella school they are registered with has agreements with the colleges. Said umbrella school is operating just like private schools that negotiate agreements for their students to dual enroll. If the umbrella school you enroll with has done the same, then you can do dual enrollment that way. HTH
  11. Congratulations!:hurray: I have been so impressed by your maturity, determination, and perseverance. May God bless you and make His face shine upon you!:grouphug:
  12. How long does the battery last? This was purchased January 2011. If the low battery message has not appeared, can we assume it is still good for tomorrow's SAT?
  13. In the Biology of Behavior, Diane Craft, lists a complete set of supplements and the amounts to be given. There is a specific formula that I believe is no longer available. I had done the research and the FDA was trying to keep this European doctor from selling it. This was a long time ago. I can't remember but I found it interesting that they would try to ban something natural that was working. However, Dianne gives the individual components of that formula. I will have to listen to it and post it for you later. Omegas are essential. Boys need it more than girls. Many years ago I read "The Omega Connection" --I think--I have forgotten--so many books read. Anyway, this one is written by Dr. Shaw, head of pharmacology research at Havard. Dianne also bases a lot on "Superimmunity for Kids" by Dr. Leo Galland, who was head of medical research at Gessell Yale Institute of Immunology (this is a great book for any parent).
  14. There is a group buy for it at homeschoolbuyerscoop. If you have used it, for what grade levels and how do you like it? Do you use it as a supplement? If so, as a supplement to which math program?
  15. What about Latin Alive with DVDs--it says it is the High School Wheelocks. This is for doing at home. I can't give a review because I didn't use the program.
  16. You can either buy it new and resell it or look for it used. I bought all my TT used ( by one person) and they have been great. Check this board or vegsource. I know the new program has computer grading but I used the old programs and they were fine.
  17. My ds took APUS History with Susan Richman and it was certainly worth the money. He did get a 5 on the test.
  18. take a look at this website http://www.annashousellc.com/annasbkgrnd.html and I would strongly recommend reading the book Miracle Children.
  19. :grouphug:I really hate to get involved in threads like this but what is the purpose of these boards if we can't express ourselves without fear of being attacked. I rarely post anymore because of what I see happen at times. I've been on these boards since 2001. We are all different and yet have so much to learn from each other. These boards were meant for us to be able to share our opinions without fear of persecution. I had posted briefly earlier about Hillsdale not being a fit for everyone. Many years ago, this was a consideration for our son who is graduating. I was even going to send him on the high school trip. I have friends whose high schoolers have gone on those trips. I have friends whose students attended Hillsdale and had to come back or transfer, etc. Again, this is not against Hillsdale. It was not for them. I know those whose children have done very well. The reasons we decided not to pursue Hillsdale are personal to us and I will certainly not post them after what has happened here. This is no disrespect for those whose students have excelled at Hillsdale and certainly not a judgment of you either. This particular son does not have food sensitivities. However, I have another son and that may certainly be a consideration in the future when we consider colleges. I also understand that no college is perfect. Regardless of what is posted on these boards, one has to do one's own research and above all visit the college. If I were Lyn, I certainly wouldn't be posting our school choice. We all make different choices and no one should be criticized for the choice they make. A post about a school is not a post against any family who has chosen said school.:grouphug:
  20. I never like to post on threads like these. However, just because Hillsdale has had a good reputation with this board it doesn't meant it is for everyone. AS Gwen in VA (I think it was her) said, college experiences are different for everyone. I respect those of you who have had or are having good experiences with it and/or whose children will be attending. I personally have friends that had to bring their student home after first year. I know of other families with similar stories. I will not go into detail. It was not about the college food. This is not to bash Hillsdale. Simply a statement that we need to consider all opinions. That is why college visits are necessary.
