  1. 😂😂😂 The busiest years we get about 10 visitors. This year it is close to freezing all of a sudden and there are scattered snow showers so the burden may fall on me to take care of these bags of Twix and Almond Joy. Thanks for the upthread suggestion about using the freezer. DD just reminded me that we have a lot of freebie toothbrushes. That could be a back up if I accidentally eat all the candy and then someone shows up after all.
  2. I still haven't moved out of that phase and I've been flying on my own for 30 years 😄
  3. I love patterns with so many options like that! It makes it easy to feel like I'm getting my $'s worth. I see it includes a square neckline which I've been noticing a lot lately.
  4. Another pattern for woven v-neck that you might check out is the Verdun t-shirt. They have periodic sales. I've made 3 or 4 out of quilting cotton. I add an inch or so all around and the slightly high-low hem does nice, disguising things for my rear. One of mine uses this scientist pattern cotton which I think might appeal to you.
  5. Lovely! Do you make or refit any of your clothes? They suit you so well.
  6. Ah, I see! I think you used the correct terminology and I've just historically been more of a "seat of my pants" sewist 😁
  7. Do you mean getting the measurements for her body, plus some wiggle room? That is what I'm hoping. The fiddly part I would like to avoid is making changes where the collar attaches to the shirt. Here's a picture of the dragon print:
  8. Then get some food. You want to be on your top game when you mention the delay and ask if that is something you should plan on for future visits - as nicely as possible. Plus, you know how as soon as you step away they will finally call him back, right?
  9. Yes, math and physics can often be transferred. My local CC has a list of what classes will transfer to the local uni. ABET review doesn't include in depth review of classes taught in outside departments like math.
  10. If you sign up for their newsletter, they often offer a pattern for $5 on Fridays. That is an inexpensive way to try them out.
  11. That looks like new! Have you ever refashioned a woven shirt? My dd bought a vintage men's shirt in a great dragon print, and we are pondering trying to size it for her. I'm thinking if I unpick the shirt sleeves and side seams I might be able to get something reasonable. Not going for "fitted," just "less boxy". I'm hoping to get a good look at it this weekend. There is probably a YouTube video out there that will show me exactly what to do, but I don't have the patience to search for it.
  12. Maybe you read his article, Don't Fall Into the Calculus Trap.
  13. That looks great! Nice job getting the top of the color blocks on the body and sleeve to line up. I've found I can get away with straight stitch for a majority of the seams on my knit shirts. I don't really have room for a serger so I keep trying different work-arounds.
  14. My mom said that for me, too. And my girls wore the costume when it fit them. You got this! If needed, you could skip the overdress and pin on a plain dish towel as an apron.
  15. Dirty dishes should never be left in the sink, that is gross. They should be left on the counter next to the sink. Additionally I don't care about kilts, I always return my carts to the corral because it is rude not to, and the Oxford Comma is not optional.
  16. Is there a dragon egg in the included accessories? That would be a clincher.
  17. Hey, hey, hey, I *hear* you and all the parts of your post. I'm the dishwasher here, but I, generally, do not put them away. The dirty dishes stack on the counter for a couple days. I can't stand having icky dishes in the sink, so everything in the counter. When I feel crowded by seeing the dishes pile up I do them. If there is a back up of clean dishes , that delays my washing. I slack on this duty sometimes, but I'm also the weeknight chef, so I pay the penalty of having to work around my own mess. Argh! I timed myself and found that it takes me only 10 minutes to do a counter full of dishes. That has gone a long way to helping me buckle down and just do the needful. I wonder if you could switch things up occasionally. Like if the counter is full, you wash dishes and order delivery? I would clarify that plan up front, but it might be a way to put a price on your time and the value of everyday chores?
  18. None of the five of us have had it to our knowledge. Feel like I'm jinxing is here...
  19. I woke up at 3, so I tried the sleep meditation option of my yoga app. It must have worked....
  20. Goodness. I remember in graduate school one time dh missed a weekly call with his parents who knew he was moving that weekend and starting a new position at his company. It took more than a month before his mom would speak to him on the phone call again. He still makes those weekly calls decades later. I still think the situation is odd, so very odd. I don't have the personality to be that coordinated with my dc, even if I didn't have that crazy experience influencing me.
  21. Especially because we all know apps are less regulated than web sites and collect more personal data, so this is clearly a data grab.
  22. We're traveling and I didn't really register that it would be 85ish% here (0 at home). Luckily the Airbnb has a nice colander we've been using.
