  1. I have a 17 yr old has been doing her own laundry since she was 10 for this exact reason. Yes 10. She FREAKED out b/c something she wanted to wear wasn't clean. Gee, weeelll it WASN'T in her basket but apparently my mad mom skillz should have read her mind & picked it up from under the BED! Instead, my mad mom skillz taught her how to use spot remover!!! Even now at 17,shes one of her few friends that knows how to do laundry, spot clean, sew a button & press her clothing.
  2. wow..I may be the only person that thinks differently here but here goes... I think the family members of the older people just don't want to pay for it and are avoiding her. Maybe they don't have the money or maybe they just don't want to pay. I don't think just because it was left out that it is the 3 yr olds or the parents fault. They RAN OVER IT. Thank GOD there wasn't a 3 yr old ON that trike. I know I wouldn't go ask the elderly neighbors to pay for it but I may very well ask how their sick family member is the next time I see them. I also would have no problem calling again to let her know she could replace it with the $30 trike from Target. After that, I'd be mad but blow it off & get my kid a new bike. Bummer situation really but ignoring you isn't the way they should deal with this situation and it isn't worth it at all to force them legally on a $50 bike.
  3. aahh!! Love the pic of mom & babe! Congrats!!
  4. I understand the emotional tie to things. When my mom passed I didn't want to get rid of an unly old housedress she wore all the time. We too had alot of wine classes given to us (we don't drink wine) that went unused. We also have a crazy set of handpainted country plates. I decided to let the kids use the wine glasses for juice, if they break- I can't care. If I knew someone would love them, I'd have no problem giving them away. As for the dishes, we decided to use THAT COUNTRY SET for BBQ nights only. The kids now love the bbq plate tradition. When I set the table or get the plates out; they know we're having BBQ that night~! I agree with what the others have said, once you get the ball rolling, you'll find yourself getting rid of everything!!
  5. And do you think legalization of such bull would help the economy?
  6. Last week my college freshman bought two books at the local community college USED for $143.50. Today I found them online USED at Barnes & Nobles with shipping totaling $102. Yes the college will take them back with a full refund as classes haven't started. Just a yeehaw! and a reminder to check out B&N! :D
  7. :iagree::iagree: AND to top it off, they have 2-3yr old books, through 7-8 yr old books. I'm not sure about science, but they have math & writing/reading stuff. I get mine at Target or Barnes & Nob. but I think RR has them also.
  8. Haha Thats cute! I bet they use that door to enter school for the next 2 months!
  9. I wanted to vote for 2 but it wouldn't let me. I voted Hot Tub hook up b/c the two of you will use it TOGETHER AND.. its something on his mind that you will remove. I also wanted to vote for the GPS if you can afford both. I got one for dh for xmas last year and he uses it daily for work. After having it for a year, I can't imagine NOT having it!

  15. Laws around here state I can't use my BB gun. There are no such laws against air soft and I'm a good aim. 1-2-3 Aim FIRE.. !!!! To the op, why didn't you go outside when you heard them? Or grab a camera and start shooting pix?
  16. I can only tell you what has worked for one of my kids. Two of my 4 were natural spellers and two had a hard time. We used spelling power. You start at the childs level regardless of age. I used it for a 9th grader. I can say it took at good 4-5 months of steady use to see GRET improvements. Now as a newly graduated high school student, she is a better speller then I am. I am planning on using it with my 4th grader this year b/c I see he is weak in spelling.
  17. I know questions about FLL & WWE have been brought up ALOT but I'm asking ones I hope haven't been answered! FLL4 isn't on Peach Hill Presses website but IS in their catalog for FALL release. Is there any more info on this? And regarding WWE: is the text written out explaining HOW TO TEACH or actual lessons? Did I catch it right that the L4 workbook will NOT be out for a while but it isn't needed to teach from the WWE text book? I'm placing orders and finishing up my year at a glace but all my curriculum hasnt been delivered so I don't know how many lessons are in each! Thanks!!
