  1. This Op-Ed. Where the only thing she said that could be referring to JD is that when you accuse a prominent Hollywood man of abuse his supporters rally to mock and harass you. Hard to see how that’s not an obviously true statement at this point.
  2. He’s suing her. Based on an op-Ed she wrote for the Washington Post where she didn’t even mention his name or make any accusations.
  3. My second Moderna booster was similar to my first. Both were much easier than the initial two shots, mostly just a sore arm and some lymph node pain. DH was tired after his, but again much less so than with the initial series.
  4. I am quite sure this is true. (Or not posting about their relationships, anyway.) And if they are they don’t get much engagement. It’s the train wrecks that get attention.
  5. Just to complicate things, if you go to a restaurant that has a lot of choices for specialty hamburgers you might see a “BBQ burger.” This is a grilled hamburger patty with topping that include at least BBQ sauce, but often pulled pork, smoked cheese, etc.
  6. Eggplant parm is the vegetarian equivalent of chicken parm. So the eggplant is the “meat,” not a noodle. Good luck with your menu!
  7. The Great Escape has the flavor of a heist movie, although it’s not exactly. And Chicken Run, which is the Great Escape but with (animated) chickens.
  8. What you’re describing sounds like lasagna, but nothing like eggplant Parmesan. Eggplant parm has eggplant slices, usually breaded but not if you’re going low-carb, sauce, and Parmesan cheese. No meat, spinach, ricotta, etc.
  9. Reported ironic spam post. Attn bot programmers: you should make “bot” a keyword to avoid.
  10. Echoing everyone else, do both parks. If they’re only interested in Harry Potter and not the rest of Universal, one day will be fine. For the “real” experience go to Diagon Alley first and then ride the train to Hogsmead.
  11. I’m United Methodist. Pastors are appointed to churches and everyone who’s moving/retiring/starting ministry moves on July 1, unless there’s an unplanned reason that someone has to leave mid-year. When that happens a retired pastor often fills in for the rest of the appointment year. (Actually moving everyone takes about two weeks, but everyone’s official start date is July 1).
  12. This! @saraha you need to start practicing the phrase “it doesn’t matter.” Why did she say/do that? It doesn’t matter. What will she think/say if I do X? It doesn’t matter. Anytime your brain gets stuck on something she said or did or might say or do . . . It doesn’t matter.
  13. Exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee.
  14. Why would you do that? It’s not like it’s the graduate’s favorite childhood recipe that she really wants to have. It’s a new recipe that no one knows about and no one will miss if you make something else. If your goal is for your annoying SIL and her family to never eat with you again, this might be a good strategy. But do you really want to risk your niece’s life for that result?
  15. "Some churches" do thing X so every church has to be consistent with that? No thank you.
  16. If the choice is between accepting a loan (forgivable or not) designed to keep people employed during the pandemic or lay off the church secretary and janitor I don’t see a moral problem with it. Assuming the money was in fact used to continue paying salaries.
  17. José Pablo Iriarte Is a Cuban-American author with lots of short stories. “Proof by Induction” is a 2021 Nebula finalist and free to read online.
  18. I think there is a problem defining “political.” When a person is acting out of their own religious beliefs they generally don’t consider their actions to be political, but when they see people acting out of religious beliefs they don’t share those people’s actions appear political. Hence members of both the Church of Christ and the United Church of Christ (whose religious beliefs will tend to align with opposite sides of the current US political divide) can see their own church as not being political while the other is.
  19. Not really. Without comment on this particular case, abusers are rarely abusive to everyone. They are often seen as wonderful, kind, gentle, and loving by people who aren’t their targets.
  20. I still don’t understand “made a promposal.” What, exactly, did you make? (Promposals are something I have no experience with, I thought the word meant elaborately asking someone to be your date for prom, so you talking about it as a physical item makes me think I’m missing context.)
  21. Long and slow. Roast at 250 F until internal temp is 145. For a big roast that could be a couple hours. If you want a pretty look you can then brown the top under the broiler or by turning the oven up to 500 for 10 minutes. But I usually serve it sliced with a sauce, so I don't bother browning the edges. Edit: for a pretty plate slice it and arrange three slices on each plate in a fan-shape. Top with sauce, not enough to cover the meat entirely. A mushroom sour cream sauce is good, or a spicy fruit sauce. Or even just applesauce with a little thyme added.
  22. It depends on the recipe, but probably not. They aren’t the same cut. A center loin roast is much thicker and takes longer to cook, has more fat, and isn’t as tender. It makes a good roast, though.
  23. Quill, would it help to separate “my son is/is not a good match for their daughter” from “my son is/is not a good person”? They’ve decided and acted on the first one, but you seem to be taking it as if they think the second one, and wanting to correct them. I have friends from a wide variety of religious traditions. Some of them adore my children and yet would never support a romantic relationship between their children and mine. It’s not an insult. Edit: And yes, the way they went about it was not ideal. But there really is no good way to break up with someone.
  24. Perhaps you made butter mints. They are similar, but no cream cheese.
