  1. I want one so bad, I think I could start nursing again! I can imagine schlepping one on my back... and would in a heart beat.... If... it were possible... and if we had money... Urgh.... Money.... it gets in the way!! (and of course, hopefully family will be found for some of them!) :tongue_smilie:
  2. That's a great idea:-) Right now, she's throwing up.... and so.... I'm not sure what else to tell her.... Keep the suggestions coming:-)
  3. Hi There, Dehydrated Mom.. low milk supply What advise would you give. I have little since I never had supply problems. What would you say?? What should she eat? Drink? and how is supplementing going to harm the nursing problem? And... if she's going to supplement, should she have the baby suck for a few minutes on her first? Ten minutes? how long? I know we have some knowledgeable moms on here.... and some Lactation consultants:-) Are you on?? Thanks!! :-)
  4. Wow, I could feel guilty reading everyone's list. We'll have finished some of Singapore, in different levels. Some of 1 and some of 2; he's more level 2, but trying to make sure we don't miss any mental math opportunities. All of CC's memory work, he's almost word perfect. Trying for the Geography, it's a particularly challenging year. He's learning "Cursive First" and his handwriting will be decent by the end of the year. He will be reading well, I think. He's reading pretty well now. His dad reads each night to him, and that's when he gets his Fables, Myths and other old stories. :-)
  5. I'd finish my teaching degree, and get my Masters in something that would make it so I'd be great in a Classical School ... (Latin?? hmmm) :-)
  6. My daughter did LCI in 3rd... LCII in 4th... Henle Units 1-almost Unit 4 in 5th and now she's kinda starting back at Unit 3 with an online Tutor. With my son, I'm going to have him start the memory work of LFC and then go from there... so by 2nd... we'll "hopefully" really be starting. :-)
  7. I forgot that there are these little birdhouses that you can buy that are for "no barking". They are about $25. Oops... $50?? The person who had told me about them said $25... hmmm maybe you can find them on sale?? http://www.itchmo.com/dog-product-review-pet-safes-ultrasonic-bark-busting-bird-house-3449 http://www.discount-pet-superstore.com/bark_control_collars/outdoor_bark_control.htm :-)
  8. These threads make me wanna "babysit" :-) BTW.... I wanna make the $15... and I'm sure they don't claim it on taxes:-) :-)
  9. I came home late at night, and let my dog out... got distracted... and my dog was of course barking outside.... The neighbor came and banged on our door so hard... that I really thought it would break as I went to answer it. Oops... It's not always on purpose. I can't even let my dog out to play with my son without him barking at whatever is in the yard. And... his favorite things to bark at.... are the guys who drink and smoke pot... next door. He absolutely either hates them.... (freaks out!) or just loves to bark at them... and boy is he ferocious when barking at them. Sometimes just talking to neighbors nicely, works. :-)
  10. Thanks Angela, You're the bestest! I wish your husband wanted to hunt in the NW, then you could move :-) (Then hint hint.... Angela, you could start a small Classical School, and my daughter could attend... she's 11:-) Thanks Vanna, too! I'll see if I have any specific questions:-)
  11. Hi There, I will be having my son take some writing courses using IEW, but want to also use some other type of writing course. I have looked at CW writing (I actually have Aesop A) I'm also looking at Imitation in Writing. I've done an advanced search on here, before I posted... but I can't see comparisons. Can anyone do one? Or point me to a thread? Thanks!!
  12. Cuz they live in the Here and Now. What is past... is past... and what tomorrow holds... is the key for if life is fair... and fun. (And by fair, it's by their test of fair) :-)
  13. Ok... call me cheap, but try the Good will or Salvation Army... and then pay another $6 to get them altered. Should end up under $20 :-) Just a thought:-) I'm 38 and I was just buying this one Old Navy jean that I liked.... but they were $30 or so... and then I went to the Good will. Our jeans are about $7.00 and the Salvation Army... I can buy for under $5. and here's the thing... there are a tons of brands:-) Just a thought.... Who would have thought I'd turn into my mom:-) :-)
  14. Listening to the cds is a nice way to drill the info in.... :-)
  15. I'd like this recipe:-) Are the tortillas whole wheat?? I have to say that I love fresh whole wheat flour (doesn't taste "stale") for everything but pie crusts :-)
  16. So, I don't know you ... and I want to make sure I don't sound judgemental. Your curricula that you list, sounds extremely impressive. Do you divide everything up into the time you have to work on it... and get through during a "year's time"? I have a 6th grade, and I can't imagine that she'll get to be finished by even 2 next year.... but.... hmmm... Do you anticipate being able to continue this through high school? I'm wondering if you do school at other times without realizing it. Like... my daughter doesn't read good books for pleasure... so that "counts as school time". But, my friend's daughter steals off with her books that she's bought for .... next year. (so that's just "free time reading") :-)
  17. :grouphug: I'm so sorry for your family during this time of being scared and worried and sad... and all the other emotions that come with tragedy and the hope that is at the end of the tunnel.... if ya can just get there. For our family, God would come into the conversations, I'm not sure about yours. It's just an "unfair" feeling thought.... I think that talking about it with hope is what we'd try. Let us know how it goes.... the talk... the surgery.... I'm so sorry... :grouphug:
  18. I'd do some deeper math.... like the abacus:-) ( I got mine from nurtureminds.com ) and find things to go deeper instead of faster:-) Just a thought:-) :-)
  19. I have to say, that with such a classic "prayer" I'd keep with the KJV or at least the NKJV.... :-)
