  1. $1200? is that the same as $1200 American Dollars? That's awesome. I would have loved to lived well enough when were younger, so that we could spend $1000 on food :-) Makes me want to remind my kids about some things being easier when you plan well. :-)
  2. My son doesn't ask to listen to it.... I do have the Diana Waring cds which have a young activity book to go with it... Jim Weiss, the reader of SOTWcds... has some incredible cds which might be more to your children's liking right now... :-)
  3. I think this looks right. For us, it would be enough to do what you've put out here. The book basket... and such is great. I like the SOTW cds and asking questions from my daughter... and she's older than yours. Or, the Diana Waring and her activity book... something in line with the history you're trying for... I think this would work great. I hope the book list for the next cycle is like Cycle 1's. It's great!! Carrie:-)
  4. Think about it... even if you have to have 24 more days of school... due to one extra day of field trips a week during the CC year... you can get that done with.... April -June.... of extra school.... Put that into next year.... ect, And of course, you won't get all 24 days behind. I have friends who take a year and a half per core... Are you doing the LA for Sonlight instead of using Essentials?? :-)
  5. Hey Dawn, I was just a little kidding:-) Start a thread.... We who love cloth diapers.... really love them!! We'll tell you all you wanna hear... and then some more!! I'll start by telling you... and you can transfer this over to your new thread..... I like Diaper service quality flat folds plus Bummis Super Whisper Wrap (velco, more adjustable) pinned once the baby starts moving around a lot... http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/ http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/covers.htm#Bummisw Mommys Touch One-Size Covers, these look good... although I didn't use them. I know the lady at this store is good with helping. I've got to say that I wouldn't buy many diapers called "all in ones" because I occasionally have to bleach mine... and rinse well. I haven't found any of the suggestions that are offered... to work well. A bit of bleach made it so my children wouldn't start a rash due to the build-up on the diapers.. And, I really like a few wool ones, for night...(helps keep a wet little one...warm and asleep) and they are really a good option for you if you don't want the other ones.... Wool is great... you can by them... make them.... use soft wool... Disana Organic Merino Wool Pull-On (and these look yummy, too!) Anyway, enjoy and I love the cloth so much that I would welcome a pm if you think I can help... Carrie:-)
  6. Kelly, I invited you.... BTW, anyone coming to the Sizzling Science day at the Gilbert House, in Salem?? If so... I'd love to meet you! Carrie:-)
  7. Ok, so I'm so curious... "why do you want to know?" :-) Course, I can tell you about cloth:-)
  8. The banana always helped to get everything in him... out. Remember that if something does come out... but not all the way... to NOT help "pull" it out... which is your first thought. You can/have to scissor it off.... and then let it continue by itself, the next time....
  9. There are all kinds of "ok" litters, which we strive for... The wheatish ones.... are the ones we use. Wheat makes him sick... but the other ones are worse... I'd give him a banana if it were me. That usually helps my pup if he's into something. It's gross... but for a while it seemed like paper towels were his best friend. I finally just gave him bananas after I found out... He'd go around the yard and kinda... try to go... but couldn't. Luckily... after doing the vet thing a few times.. I found that banana trick. Not to say that I wouldn't go in for a vet visit... just for future reference. Carrie
  10. And... can I say I emailed her today... and she already emailed me back??!! That's success:-)
  11. Realize that my son still sleeps with us at 6, but I have trained children to sleep by themselves. You first decide what it's worth... is it worth it? If it is... you resolve! He's old enough to hear... "Mama is putting you to bed now, and you are to stay in bed until you wake in the morning." He won't necessarily understand...(maybe he will) but he will understand your resolve. I would read to him.... give him kisses and hugs... put him in with his blankie and a book... and say "night night" and walk out... Then you just ...walk out. You may have to go in... say night again... and again... and again.... That's why you have to really decide... if you need to have them sleep by themselves... Then realize that 3 hrs for a couple of nights.... brings many nights of rest. For us, with our son, we decided that he needs to touch and feel at night... and so he sleeps with us. BUT, if I needed the rest... I would make him.... (My husband says at 7... he'll be in his own room...) :-)
  12. Hmmm. so I know I could get 10% off the regular price... if I order the set. I was thinking $60. but perhaps that's not being fair. :-)
  13. http://www.squidoo.com/Dave-Roever This man I met, when my dad and he were speaking together?? It was when i was quite young. :-) I remember him saying that he just didn't want them to push his dog tags into his mouth because he was alive... but they couldn't tell. (The push them in the gums?? so that the soldier is identified more easily??) Carrie:-)
  14. Just ordered and it went through... (tried earlier 4 times!!)
  15. Hey you NY people. At least you can have yummy bagels and pick up Chicken Dinners on Fridays... Potato Knishes and all that... I LOVE food in NY... I haven't had it in almost... gulp.... 2 decades!! :-)
  16. I have to say that I love CC although if I put it together, I'd choose a four year cycle. :-) Carrie
  17. Oregonlam.com Order up:-) You can order 100 packs of pouches for $10.00 each and almost everyone can find someone with a laminator.($5.95 flat shipping rate... and they have a few different kinds of supplies) The beauty of this is that there is no cutting. I recommend pushing the card to the top of the pouches seal, and then 2 hole punching on the bottom. Also, flyboys.com has great rings. The are about 85 cents each. Call and they are willing to adjust shipping charges. The nice thing about the rings is that they don't bite your punched holdes... :-)
  18. Hi There, I'm wondering how you decide what you'll pay for used books. I have a set that I'd like from someone... of a few different books. The total new, without discount would be $91.46. So, how do you decide what it's worth to purchase used?? :-) Carrie
  19. As someone who sold cookware at a Retail store... but about 15 years ago... I love stainless, but there are some things that I want all of my cookware to have. Riveted Handles.... and.. non-stick is questionable as far as value and perhaps health. I know that I won't buy non-stick again, because my family doesn't care for it correctly. I purchased http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006910G/ref=asc_df_B00006910G1031259?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=googlecom09c9-20&linkCode=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B00006910G I purchased it through my local store that is like a Macy's. With a coupon and sales, you can sometimes come close or better than the local Walmart. You just need to go in and talk to someone who is friendly... and then see if they can help you with "when" to purchase it... for the best price. Just a thought:-) :-)
  20. It's nice to hear a positive story!! I'm sure it'll be a good reunion. I hope she's happy right away! :-)
  21. So.... to finger spell the word... I can't remember... is each phonogram a different finger... and if it's a two letter one.... it's still one finger?? Thanks
  22. So, I have my children starting with the words for us to "decode" out loud and then write. You figure out the syllables? Then how do you "teach" the rest of the word?? Believe it or not... I went to a mini private session and ... forgot... :-)
