  1. I wish we lived close to where this is so we could bring it to our mechanic but the vehicle is about 4 hrs away, so won’t be doing that! It is such a great deal (well, at least I think it is? 18900 for 2014 xle with 38,000 miles) but I just don’t know if we should go for it or not! Sigh....
  2. Title is pretty self explanatory. Would you (or have you) buy a salvaged title vehicle for a family van. Specifically we are looking at 2014 or newer Toyota Siennas. The dealership has outstanding reviews and have informed us there was no frame damage, only cosmetic doors, bumper, etc. Extra points if you can answer this having actually done so! But please answer even if you haven’t done so.
  3. I’m also planning on using Teachiing the Classics with my fifth grader next year, and using that knowledge to guide third grader as he reads as well. I hope it works as well as I am hoping it will!
  4. I am loving my Simple Plan by Mardel and my frixion pens. Mine totally erase, not sure why yours aren’t?
  5. Does anyone else have any thoughts on first vs second editions? Is there anything in the second edition manual that isn’t in the first?
  6. I’m new here too but have heard (and only briefly looked at) the following. Progeny Press Memoria Press Veritas Press I have decided to use Center for Lit and their approach to discussing literature. Maybe someone else here will have more ideas!
  7. I also have started three with 1 in K and it has been good.
  8. I also took 10 years of lessons with the summers off. If it did “hurt†me I wasn’t old enough to realize it and my teacher never commented. We were asked to come back to the first lesson in the fall with three “fun†pieces I’d chosen. I think taking the summer off would be fine.
  9. Of course I do! “Don’t you fret, Messieur Marius, I don’t feel any pain.....â€. Outside of Les Mis, still yes. And grew up in Midwest.
  10. The one at Costco is the classic c1 turbo team vac. It appears to fit what the needs would be in my house (though I would replace the filter it comes with to a HEPA one). Anyone currently using this? How heavy is the canister?
  11. Oh my, I have my oldest turning ten next week. Still a bit away but feel like I need to print this out now!!
  12. Oh, the trifold idea from above is great, I might need to implement that..... we are using RSO chemistry for my fourth and second graders and while I wouldn’t say I love it (because I just don’t love science,) I love that it is getting done and hopefully they are getting a decent exposure to the concepts (which was my main goal as this is the first year science is actually getting done!)
  13. All very good to know. I might reconsider my ideas based on the above. Hmm.....
  14. FWIW I think I will be switching DD to VCR from WW this coming year, mainly because I think it will dovetail nicely with whatever we continue on in for Latin. At least I think we’ll switch.......
  15. Not sure if this will be better here or in the logic stage forum, let me know if I should move it. We will be doing SOTW 4 with my fifth and third graders. I plan on reading the week’s chapter together and then requiring more of my fifth grader ala WTM. I was thinking of using Human Odyssey 2 and 3 as her “spine.†(I also have her using Kingfisher History Encyclopedia this year she reads out of each week but could pass this down to DS next year.) Does this sound like a sound plan? Basically, she would just be listening to SOTW read then using HO for her main work while DS in third will be doing his based solely off of SOTW. I have seen enough examples of SOTW being matched up to HO that it appears this is a possible combo. Also, more importantly, does anyone have a link that shows how to combine these two books? I have seen documents combing the ancients level or the medieval level, but nothing for Modern History. Help! ETA: title edited and body edited to clarify
  16. Also subbing, more ideas hopefully will come along. I’m looking at cycle 4 for next year and will still be reading SOTW 4 to younger siblings. Trying to imagine what else to do with her. I need to reread TWTM.
  17. Oh, I needed (or maybe not..... the list continues to grow!) this right now as I’m thinking to next year. Thanks!
  18. I have done FLL 1-4 (finishing four this year with my fourth grader). I decided to go with IEW fixit for this coming year to give her a break and then start up with GFTWTM in sixth. Sounds like I made the right choice! An eaisier year on grammar will be nice.
  19. Following as I’d love to hear other ideas on this.
  20. So was just checking out CLE math for next year on their website and I see a textbook that apparently came out in 2017. Is this necessary? Just wondering how this year is different from years two and four I’ve been doing this year. Thanks!
  21. Thanks for the above. The sample for the Reading Roadmaps is only one page on their website. I can’t tell if this is what it’s all like or if the rest of the book is more helpful at giving questions, etc. can anyone let me know?
